Server :: Creating Qmail Auto Responder For One Account?
Dec 29, 2010
I have a qmail server running, I want to create an autoreponder for one of my accounts using the autorepond for qmail, and I did that the problem is that I receive a very strange response
-It writes the subject inside the message.
-It writes the From inside the message.
-It does not show HTML when it append the original message.
So I want to have my subject written in the mail subject instead of RE:. Also I want to be able to show HTML inside the auto replay mail.
This is my .qmail file:
Code:
/home/vpopmail/domains/XXXXXXXX.com/freestuff/Maildir/
| /usr/bin/autorespond 86400 3 /home/vpopmail/domains/XXXXXXXX.com/freestuff/vacation/message /home/vpopmail/domains/XXXXXXX.com/freestuff/vacation
This is the replay I receive after I have removed the From and Subject from the message as you can see in the message file.
Code:

Original Message
With the Subject : RE: test
Also the HTML in the original message does not appear
I have read that you should write the header in the message file but also does not work, it send them with the auto replay.
How to configure auto responder / out of office reply in sendmail / squirrelmail. I tried to get plugin local_autoresponder_forward from squirrelmail.org , but it is given in the readme file that it only works when sendmail having enabled this feature. I am using virtualmin for sendmail and I have this feature enable by default in virtualmin and usermin but my users use squirrelmail for mail access?

I am aware that there is a qmail-ldap package to have ldap back end for qmail. But I need only user authentication for qmail through ldap (not the backend; i.e still keeping Mysql as the database). I am pretty new to mail server configuration. I have just configured a (q)mail server (which is currently my sand box) and am able send and receive emails. I am planning to add ldap authentication (just that) to it. Can anyone point me to the right direction?
I recently created a new user account in ubuntu linux, and created a file called xsession so that I can boot directly into xmbc when I log into that account. Is there anyway to delete the home folder for that account. I can view the file but when I try to delete it is says I do not have apporite permisions to delete the file.
I removed the account and deleted the group but it still shows up when I type in the address /home/xmbc
Is there anyway I can delete this file. It also will not let me create any new user accounts is there any way I can fix these prolbems without totaly reinstalling the system.
I'm trying to setup backuppc to access using apache. I followed this guide: [URL]. Apache2 is correctly running on my pc. I used this command: htpasswd /etc/backuppc/htpasswd user and, as the guide says, I tried to access http://localhost/backuppc but I get nothing there. Is anything else I should do to access backuppc?
I encountered a question in the Redhat Skills Assessment regarding useradd: Which of the following cannot be defined when you create a user account with useradd? a* A password expiration date. b* The user's primary group. c* The user's default shell. d* The user's NIS or LDAP group. e* The user's home directory. Which is the correct answer? I have my own thinking which will be explained later.
I am an experienced Linux user, but have never used Salix before. I have a root account set up on my other Linux distros, but can not figure it out using Salix. The reason I want a root account in Salix because I believe in freedom of choice, and my choice always was and always will be to have a root account set up so I can login as root. I am aware of the risk involed in creating a root account.
One of our client having issue with the qmail. The issue is if any one send email to abc@ourdomain.com (abc@ourdomain.com the email address which is not exist) it should send failure notification i.e."email does not exist" to the sender. The qmail server is not notifying that email address does not exist.
I would like to connect to a separate mysql server, yet I can't find any documentation on how to do this. How would one achieve this? I am running qmail on centos4.
I setup a qmail on a Debian 5 Lenny server with courier-imap server. I can send mails but cannot receive mails. I altered /etc/init.d/qmail as follows.
I am at my own desktop and I have root access on my own desktop.
I also have root access on a Desktop Ubuntu system (192.168.5.10) on the LAN. I need to create another desktop user account on that 192.168.5.10 system.
So I logged into that system with: ssh -Y myself@192.168.5.10 Then I did: sudo users-admin
This brings up the Users Settings but the Add User and Unlock buttons are disabled. How do I enable these buttons?

we have qmail server installed on rhl 9. it was working perfectly fine for last 1 year. suddenly it stopped accepting emails from internet. when i telnet on port 25 it takes about 90 secs to show the SMTP ready state.I have tried many things
1. stopped Reverse DNS Lookup by adding -H to qmail-smtpd/run file 2. stopped spamassing and AV 3. reverified DNS server settings in resolv.conf 4. dig is resolving dns query properly.
i also observed that when i do telnet to telnet localhost 25 response is very quick
but when i do telnet local_server_IP_address 25 it takes aprx 90 secs to show me SMTP ready messege.
can someone shed some light on this as what should i do next to rectify this problem..

1. I am currently using a basic fedora 14. I had a fedora 8 DVD that contained many packages including its installation (I mean it was bootable and had its iso image. Now my question is that is there any way by which I can install the packages(like OpenOffice.org) from that DVD to fedora 14? I have a slow internet connection and its not possible for me to download large files.
2. I installed some packages via yum. My friend also has fedora 14 but unfortunately he doesnt have a internet connection to download the files via yum and install them. Are the .rpm files downloaded via yum stored in some specific folder, so that I can transfer those files via a flash drive to his computer and install them directly there?
3. Is there a way to autologin my account so that I dont have to type my password everytime I switch on my PC?
4. Everytime and every session I try to access a ntfs partition, it asks for my root password. Any tricks to bypass this?
Is it possible to have multiple servers in /var/qmail/control/smtproutes? I need to prevent if the server unavailable then it would connect to another ones.
After successfully installment of qmail instead of installing Squirrel mail I decide to installing round-cube mail or Horde. But both are not getting success.
I am installing qmail on centos 5.4. I run "rpmbuild -bb --with cnt5064 qmail-toaster.spec" then todo edit in file chkuser_settings.h in vi /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/qmail-1.03/chkuser_settings.h but I am not getting complete folder qmail-1.03 why is it so...
we are using qmail as our MTA. Now the users are using outlook and web client. There is one important thing that i like to share with people here and request from the experts to suggest some solution. when using outlook you can just give someone's else name who has got an account in the same domain having same qmail server running and you will be receiving and sending on the behalf of that person rather you will be using his/her account.
possible to run Qmail and Sendmail on one server, both on another port? I need qmail for Plesk and sendmail for OpenEMM Now qmail is working for plesk, but if I install qmail ( I tried install it also from source) and try to run sendmail, I still get this error: Starting sendmails: listener sendmail: illegal option -- q chich probably means, that there isnt full sendmail version.
We have Exchange as our Mailbox server > Qmail as our SMTP server > and we use postini for filtering. We recently got word from a customer that he received a "451 error - can't connect to server" message from Postini - stating that the server is unreachable. This does not happen often so obviously Postini can connect to the qmail server. Are there logs that I can look at to find out why and when these would occur?
