Server :: CentOS Cluster Setup For Web Hosts / Data And Mail

Mar 17, 2011

I am researching the CentOS Cluster Setup. Does anyone know of a guide on this or have a thread linked that I can look at? I want to build a small cluster and then be able to add to it as it grows. Mainly I want to have web hosts, data, and mail behind it. The DNS will probably be on there own.

CentOS 5 Server :: Postfix And Hosts File - The Mail Server Could Not Deliver Mail

Mar 20, 2011

I've setup my server by following a ton of goods, and it seems to work ok, but I need to start using my server for email in order to receive orders placed via my website. I've followed this guide - [URL] I followed the steps above, and tested the mail server via telnet, and all seemed to be ok. I tried sending an email via Squirrelmail, from cs@thinclientwarehouse.co.uk TO my working email simon@c1systems.co.uk, but the server returned with the following message:

<simon@c1systems.co.uk>: host mail.c1systems.co.uk[95.128.128.129] said: 550-Verification failed for <cs@localhost.thinclientwarehouse.co.uk> 550-The mail server could not deliver mail to cs@localhost.thinclientwarehouse.co.uk. Networking :: CentOS Mail Setup - Sendmail Via External SMTP Server

Jul 30, 2011

I am setting up a CentOS box as a NAT firewall that needs to also send mail. It needs to send this mail using an outside provider's SMTP. The provider requires SMTP over SSL. None of the machines inside the NAT will ever send mail except via the provider's SMTP nor will they ever receive mail except to local clients via the provider's IMAP servers.

So for the example the machine is TESTMACHINE. There is one internet facing ethernet port connected to a DSL modem via pppoe.

The SMTP it needs to send mail via is mail.host.net which requires SMTP over SSL (port 465) and username/password authentication.

The sendmail documentation is quite confusing on how to get this simple setup operating, so an example showing the appropriate changes to sendmail.mc and other require config files.

CentOS 5 :: Cluster Setup - Used NFS - RSH - File Sharing - Communication

Dec 18, 2009

I put together a 3 PC cluster approx. 6 years ago with Redhat, at that time I was in Grad. School. Now I am in a small company and we are planning to go for a cluster setup. I have chosen to go with Centos5.

The last time around I used NFS, RSH etc. for file sharing, communication etc. Would it be OK for me to go with the same stuff or some new software/technology has come in.

The Centos cluster setup is for high-performance computing.

Fedora Servers :: How To Setup GFS2 Without Cluster Suite / How To Configure Cluster.conf

Nov 6, 2010

I am trying to build GFS2 cluster with 2 or 3 Fedora 14 nodes, but I've encountered some problems from the start. First luci does not work at all in Fedora 14. There is no luci_admin and even if I manage to start luci service, I get a blank white screen when I try to open it from the browser. I've googled a bit and found that I'd might be able to setup GFS if I manage to build cluster.conf manually and start the cluster suite, but I cannot find documentation on how to create cluster.conf anywhere. If anyone knows how to setup GFS2 without a cluster suite or how to configure cluster.conf.

Server :: Send Mail From Different Virtual Hosts On One Ip?

Jan 15, 2010

Ok I have 5 virtual hosts on one IP but only 1 domain (forwardconference.org) will be sending emails out to people....confirmations and such. The other sites may send out some emails...like back to my personal email address not hosted on this server. That works. But to people on like aol or yahoo or hotmail....it doesnt

Problem is, most people are not getting the emails. Mailq reports them being deffered for some reason. I'm having our ISP setup a PTR to forwardconference.org....does this mean all my emails from either of the sites....even if I put a different FROM: address in the php mail script...will come from [URL]? Or should I just setup my server as its own SMTP server?

Server :: Setting Up Postfix As Outgoign Mail Relay For Several Domains / Hosts

Oct 6, 2009

I would like to setup postfix to act as a relay for the outgoing mails of a couple of servers each serving it's own domain. The mails we are talking about are standard administrative emails like user registration, password reset request. The volume of those mails will naturally grow as the site grows. Which for me poses the problem that depending on the growth of the site you will sooner or later hit the quotas imposed by (my otherwise preferred) providers like GMail or smtp.com.

So what I need is a mail relay that will only accept mails from authenticated clients from hosts in its access list and relay their mail without restrictions. Is that possible with postfix? What has to be changed in the config and what are the pitfalls?

Server :: Setup An MTA To Pass Mail Onto An External ISP/mail Provider?

Jul 1, 2009

I have a Fedora 10 machine that I want to setup to send email. However I don't want it to be a full blown SMTP setup. What I am looking to achieve is when something sends email from the local machine (e.g. from cron) to an address I want it to use an MTA on the local machine which will then connect to, and authenticate with, my e-mail providers SMTP server this will then take care of actually sending the e-mail.I don't want, or need, to setup a full blown SMTP service (i.e. only the local machine should be able to use it) so sendmail seems a bit over the top for my needs. Nor do I want to mess about with MX records (am I right in thinking this will mean I have to manage all mail for my domain?).

CentOS 5 Server :: Hosts File And Resolv.conf Conflict CentOS 5.5?

Apr 11, 2011

I am running an application that requires use of my /etc/hosts file. In it, I have my machine name and its LAN ip address. The program creates a service on a specific port, then attempts to connect to it based on the host name. So my hosts file has to be correct.I added the nameservers to resolv.conf and now my application will not run. My guess is that the computer is checking the name servers first, timing out then checking the hosts file.Is there a way I can tell the system to check the hosts file first, then DNS. I thought it should behave that way by default, but it does not appear to.

CentOS 5 Networking :: Setup The Cluster To Automatically Failover The Service To Another Node Case One Node Fails?

Mar 1, 2011

I am familiar with windows 2008 cluster servers, and I just started testing with centos cluster. I am creating a simple 2-node cluster, for a simple ping test.

Node 1: 10.0.0.1
Node 2: 10.0.0.1
Virtual ip: 10.0.0.10

So far, I can ping a virtual ip, and manually relocate it between the nodes, but I didn't figure out, how to do this automatically. So this is my question: How can I setup the cluster, to it automatically failover the a service to another node case one node fails?

CentOS 5 Server :: GFS With Little 'Cluster' As Possible / No CLVM

Mar 15, 2010

What I did not realize was, that DLM uses the external Ethernet Interface even when talking to the local machine/node. So iptables was blocking my DLM daemon. With iptables down or the TCP port for DLM opened, cman starts, mount works. What I have here is a fibrechannel SAN which will be directly attached to several servers in the near future. Thise servers should be enabled access to a single filesystem on the SAN (shared).I heard that the right filesystem choice for this kind of setup would be GFS, because it has a Distributed Lock Manager and one FS journal for each node.

But I am having trouble setting up GFS. I have managed to create a GFS on a small testvolume (local HDD so far), but am unable to mount it. It seems that GFS/DLM needs a lot of cluster services to run, which I do not all understand / know how to correctly setup. Also: Will the lock_dlm stuff need Ethernet communications to handle file locks? And if so, will it fetch the node list from /etc/cluster/cluster.conf to determine who to talk to?

CentOS 5 Server :: 2-node Non-shared-FS Cluster On 5.2/3?

Apr 15, 2009

I'm having some trouble configuring clustering in a 2-node cluster, with no shared FS. Application is video streaming, so outbound traffic only...The cluster is generally ok - if I kill -9 one of the resource-applications, the failover works as expected. But it does not failover when I disconnect the power from the service owning node (simulating a hardware failure). clustat on the remaining node shows that the powered-down node has status "Offline", so it knows the node is not responding, but the remaining node does not become the owner, nor start up the cluster services/resource-applications. eth0 on each node is connected via a crossover cable for heartbeat, etc. Each eth1 connects to a switch.

CentOS 5 Server :: Cluster Suite CLVMD ?

Jul 17, 2011

I have just installed a two server cluster with ricci luci and conga on centos 5.6 32bit , both servers are vmware guests and have a shared storage disk connected to them both

with a GFS2 file system on them + fencing agents configured to work with VMware Vcenter.

(this is supported by vmware and works great on 4 other centos clusters i have been runing for 4 monthes with no CLVMD).

In this setup i used for the first time CLVMD as recommnded by RedHat so i could have the flexablitly of LVM under the GFS2 file system but , i have been getting some Strange problem with it , some times after a developer has done some IO heavy task like unziping a file or a simple TAR the load goes to 10 - 15 and no task can be killed , trying to reboot the server hangs.

After hard shutting the server every thing works ok until the next time some one does the same IO work as before.
