Apr 14, 2010ssh-Ebymts4547 it is also listening to a port on my machine and it is owned by my regular, non-root, user account. Is it malware of some sort?

Ubuntu :: Hidden Directory 'RECYCLER' Creates .exe File In Directory Called 0x2D9FA278
May 30, 2011I've done a low level format on them so they're completely empty. When I use them with my windows machines, they're absolutely fine. When I plug them into my Ubuntu machine, there is a hidden directory created called 'RECYCLER' which I'm assuming is for deleted files?However, it also creates a .exe file in this directory called 0x2D9FA278 which has an Icon with an H in it and a comment of 'Facebook Photo' This has the effect of making all the directories on the stick into shortcuts! I googled the file name and it seems to be some sort of Trojan, but I don't understand how it's go into my Ubuntu machine, I've scanned with ClamAV and it finds nothing.

Everything was fine for years but a week ago my server got hacked.I don't know how the hacker got my username/password - it was not something like admin, password.9 months ago my PC was infected with some virus which connected to the FTP server by using password which was saved in CuteFTP and infected all index files with some javascript. Then I changed the user/FTP password and didn't save it anymore in Cute FTP. Of course, I checked all the folders and re-uploaded all infected files. Is it possible that this virus uploaded some hidden file which was able to get the new password for this account?
The server was hacked from so called Tor IP address. I am tiref of worrying about server security and now have an idea to get a static IP address from my ISP and to allow logins only from this IP address. What do you think about it? This idea looks good for me but are there any risks to lose access to the server. Can ISP provider change the static IP address for some reason?

May 15, 2010jump into a Linux class in college with only 3 weeks left in the course. I thought I would be able to catch on, and go figure, it didn't exactly happen that way. I was given an assignment to do, and I am so far lost it isn't even funny. I need to create a directory structure, set up file security, create a step by step instruction manual on how to copy/delete said files, and create a guide to common Linux commands. How would I create these files in root and share them with the other users? and where can I find a list of common commands and their functions?

Jul 13, 2011I feel there's a bit of a misunderstanding going on between C++ and me...My problem is that I have a deque of pointers to a class, and create objects then add them to the deque in a for loop. However, the destructor is called on the object as soon as the loop quits.

Now, if I change the deque from deque<Test*> to deque<Test> then it works fine - I get:

However, I can't do this with my actual code, because I am creating a deque of pointers to an abstract class, so it won't let me instantiate the class. (This is all so that I can take advantage of polymorphism, and call functions on a set of similar objects without worrying what type of object I'm dealing with).
So, I suppose my question is: what is the correct way to create that deque of pointers to the abstract class? I don't seem to be barking up the right tree currently.

The binaries code has to know how to find it and so on. I imagine that the applications binary uses a system call and that another application takes over.

Feb 7, 2011I'm getting openbox up and running on squeeze. I performed a netinstall and did a simple apt-get openboxI need to modify a file called ~/.xinitrc, but it does not exist. I read that I can copy one over from /var/x11r6/lib/xinitrc, but the /x11r6/ directory doesn't exist either. I've installed xorg, but the directory still eludes me. A package search yields nothing useful. I am using the SLiM display/login manager, which I believe calls startx, which should theoretically generate the ~/.xinitrc file.

I need to enable telnet service on it, then found xinetd and telnet-server not installed,
Then I had installed below
First I had installed Xinetd: xinetd-2.3.14-21.fc10.i386.rpm
then I had installed telnet-server: xinetd-2.3.14-21.fc10.i386.rpm
After installation I executed below commands
Service xinetd start
Chkconfig xinetd on
Chkconfig telnet on
Service iptables stop
Chkconfig iptables off
Iptables �F
After I had tried telnet localhost ----IT FAILED
when I run telnet server manually by issuing the below command
/usr/sbin/in.telnetd, I get below error

Mar 30, 2009im getting that error in my code for some reason. I compiled my code, and when i try to run this server it throws me an error on my call to setsocketopt(). The only way it can reach that part of my loop is if it succeeds when it calls sock() so I dont understand why the error says its an operation on a non-socket. Im just trying to set up a server to pass messages from a client to it a viceversa. Here is the code:

SUSE :: Flashing BIOS On Toshiba Satellite A105 S 4547 Laptop SUSe 11.2
Jan 14, 2010I bought this laptop several years ago. It had Vista. Just long enough for me to download SUSe, nuke and pave the HD and install Linux. Recently I upgraded from 1 GB to 4 GB of RAM, the maximum that is allowed given the motherboard (based on from what I am able to learn the Intel 945 chipset).
After upgrading to 4 GB, the machine (according to "My Computer") only sees 2.9 GB. I understand that under an earlier version of the BIOS that the machine would not recognize the RAM correctly. Additionally the "My Computer" page lists the display as "Intel 945GM". My problem is that I can find no Linux utility to flash the BIOS on this machine-- Toshiba only provides the BIOS included in an .exe file for either XP or Vista. I am hesitant to use the BIOS for the Intel 945 series motherboards from their site.

I am able to remotely upload 25,000 small files of ~ 1K in size, but when I go to upload hundreds of 2-4 Mb files, I get a socket write error.
