General :: NetBeans ( Php - Remote Project ) Change Permission Of Files To 0600 / Why Is So?

Jun 28, 2010

I'm using NetBeans for editing some php files ( in a php project ) at remote server.

all go normal, but when saving the edited file using NetBeans, the file's permissions are set to 0600 by default, making me not able to browse to the file at the remote server till chmod it to 0777 or else.

the main project folder have permissions 0777 and owned to me.
Also the all sub-folders and files under the project's folder have the same permission 0777.

What is the problem ? And how to get over it ?

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04, NetBeans 6.9 ( Final Edition ).
The Connection to the remote server is via FTP in Passive Mode.

SUSE :: Mounting Remote Directory On Startup On Suse

Oct 7, 2010

So ive got a Suse server up and running. It is connecting to a clearcase server, so i want to mount the remote filesystem as part of startup, as this is generally rebooted when im not around.I would normally add something to /etc/init.d and put the shortcut to it in the appropriate runlevel (in this case 3). Tried that. Didnt work.

Realised the init script needed to have the LBS stuff at the start, so put that in, and used insserv to add the script. I used required-start set to $ALl.This successfully created the init script with S20, and i eneabled it with chkconfig.

Server :: Ubuntu 9.10 - How To Create Accounts For Remote Login

But I already have ubuntu desktop edition so I was wondering if I really have to install a server edition for my limited functionality. If it is not required to install a full blown server and I can do with the one I have, how do I go about creating accounts for remote login?

OpenSUSE :: SuSE To SuSE Remote Desktop?

Mar 5, 2010

What would be the preferred method to establish a remote desktop session from one 11.2 machine to another 11.2 machine in the same location? No firewalls, local connection only. I've looked at VNC, RDP with xrdp, have not been able to establish a session to desktop. I would rather not use desktop sharing if possible, don't want invitations involved. Want something similar to hitting from Windows with VNC3and taking over the established desktop session. This is in my house, no security risks involved

CentOS 5 Server :: Vsftpd - Takes Long Time To Login From Remote Host

Aug 19, 2009

I've setup vsftpd correctly and it's running fine with local users (in the same LAN). However, when remote users wanna login to the server, it takes more than 1 minute to get in. Users do can login from remote. It just took too long. (It prompted for the username and password very fast.) Since the server is behind a router, I did configure the port forwarding for TCP 20-21. The centos version is 5.3. The vsftpd is v2.0.5.

Ubuntu :: Remote Desktop Login To Gdm After Remote Restart

Feb 6, 2011

I maintain plain vanilla Ubuntu 10.04 systems for several friends. Each machine has only one user, the owner. I use Remote Desktop to instruct and to perform maintenance. Here's my problem:After updating the system, if the kernel has changed, a restart is needed. If I do a restart, I then have to phone the owner to insert his login credentials in the gdm login screen, before I can do anything else via Remote Desktop on that machine. There ought to be a simple way I can avoid the phone call and login myself.

I'd strongly prefer not to use any software that is not included in a plain vanilla Ubuntu 10.04 installation. And I don't want to weaken system security beyond what it is now.Is there a solution? Or, what is the simplest solution?

Ubuntu Security :: Remote Sudo In Natty

May 30, 2011

When I access a remote Natty client using VNC I cannot use the sudo command in a terminal. In fact, the terminal closes itself as soon as I type the sequence sud. Even su d. Or su d.

Sua, su a, su c, su e do not cause the terminal to close itself.

This appears to be some sort of new security "feature".

How do I "work around" it?

[edit]
I'd better elaborate.

I have a remote Natty running 11.04 64-bit desktop version. I have installed tightvncserver on it. I log in on 5901 from a Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit desktop using vinagre. The desktop works fine except when I open a terminal in it and type sud. As soon as I type the d the terminal vanishes. This appears to be a deliberate feature. I also log in to other clients that run 10.04 and this does not happen. I have run Mint 11 in VirtualBox on my local machine and created the same remote desktop and viewed it from mint 11 itself. Same thing happens.

It seems to me that 11.04 has been modified to kill a terminal that is part of a VNC display when sud are typed.

how to remotely administer a 11.04 desktop?

I've downloaded a program called Aptana to my Ubuntu system it is available as a plugin for eclipse, but Eclipse would not install it this way so I got the stand-alone version. I unzipped it to a folder in my home folder called Aptana and I set up a launcher to launch it from the menu. This works just fine, but it might be helpful if instead of the launcher icon I could use the icon that came with the program. It is stored in the Aptana folder.

Ubuntu Servers :: Saving To /var/www Directories From Aptana

Mar 30, 2010

Designing a website locally on Ubuntu for the first time, Apache 2, PHP, MySQL, and PHP My Admin are all up and running fine.

I have been using Gedit to modify pages by opening them after navigating to the /var/www folder using gksudo naultilus. This works fine but I decided this morning that I wanted to use Aptana instead..

Aptana runs fine but when I try to save to anything under /var/www I get a permissions error. I tried giving myself read/write permissions both via terminal (chown) and in gksudo nautlius.. no change.

How can I write to these folders from Aptana? Also, is there any way to link to /var/www from my home folder so that I don't have to keep going there "the long way?"

OpenSUSE Network :: Remote Desktop To SUSE From Windows

Feb 26, 2010

I have been reading up around the internet that although it is possible to use MSTSC.exe under Windows XP to connect back to a Suse machine running XRDP (I believe).I had been working fine with Suse 11.0 until today. I had not made any changes to my local network but now whenever I try to connect in, I am told that I can not start the session as the sesman logon fails!

I tail'ed /var/log/messages but there is nothing written to that log when I try (interestingly enough, I do get the logon prompt that requests username, password and session type - I usually select KDE3 but have tried all options - and get the error after clicking OK).

My questions:-
1. Is XRDP under 11.1 any better (more stable as when it worked, I use to get kicked out a lot under 11.0)
2. What log file should I be trying to tail so I can see what is happening?

I must use Linux as the back end, I don't want to use a hacked copy of XP anymore and don't want to pay for a real version when Linux is free and should by now be able to grant me access to my network from a remote location!VNC is not an option as I will be wanting to log on more than one user at the same time.

Ubuntu :: Use Sudo Without A Password For Non Interactive Login Using Plink ?

Jun 2, 2010

Before you say you shouldn't do that bla bla bla. I know why i shouldn't.

However i have a problem with running sudo commands from a non interactive command line script run using plink.

The automated script needs to use chown and give the current user ownership of some files and folders created by another user.

I can't use things like sudo -s etc as it requires that i enter a password.

I have setup public key authorization in order to login. Do i have to give the root user a password and log in as that. I would prefer not doing this but if that is the only solution i guess i'll have too.
