I successfully access the web server to its localhost using its IP address (Sample: http://192.168.1.100/index.php), but when I try to access it on other terminal which are also connected to the same network, I cant view it. But it seems that they can both communicate to each other when I ping it respectively both sides.

I have a crippled file system after a disk failure and attempt at repairing. Currently the Web Server is running, however I cannot open the filesystem to explore files and view. I am going to do a fresh install this weekend and upgrade system. I have two questions I hope this forum will help with. (Installing new disk and entire server)

Can someone tell me how I could copy the http.config file so that I can view my settings from terminal (This took me forever to get right for my environment to get shtml and cgi files to run correctly and I don't wish to lose). I am running Fedora 8, I'm also not sure of the location. (I'm fairly new to linux and not great with the terminal, however that is the only access working.) It would be great if someone added the terminal commands. If I can copy them I could email to my email address.
2). In the past when I have copied web files (web sites) over to the www directory the permission would be incorrect. Is it possible to write some of the web sites to CD (Disk burner is working) and then copy to the new system with permissions correct? Would you give a little how to all web sites are in the www directy. I think that is etc/www/"webdomain name" One thing I might add is all drives will fail it is just when...

I just switch to fedora from windows recently. And I love the terminal of fedora alot. The problem is when I run some command on the terminal, I need to wait for that command to finish before executing another command. This is very inconvinient, say If I open eclipse using the terminal, this eclipse program will hog to the terminal until I closed it. So if I want to use terminal again I have to open another one.Hence the question is: Is there any way open multi processes(command) using only one terminal?

I run a fully encrypted system that requires password entry after the grub boot option selection. I can blindly type in my password and the system boots fine into the KDE logon screen. However, I can't see any terminal output when I use ALT-F1 to go to the non-graphical shell. It is there though, because I can blindly type in my login info and run commands from this "hidden" shell.

When I boot the old kernel, everything works as expected. No strange black screen but the usual text console.
in windows you do i think ipconfig and it shows all computers on the network and their ip's including yours , how to do that in ubuntu ? well i just want to see other computers and their ip's including their names ( in windows for names you use net view)

I'd like nautilus-open-terminal to launch Terminator rather than gnome-terminal.
A quick search of my system and the web didn't reveal anything. i didn't find a gconf setting to control this. A quick look at the source code didn't help much either.
Usually when i did, for example:

i would get list of files in 'documents' dir on my konsole.

Bu now in 11.4 when i do that i get whole path, like this for example:

Is there a software I can use to display on a terminal that would display traffic or log information to a display terminal. I have CentOS on all my boxes. I would like to have a terminal up and have it show things like requests to the DNS servers, apache or maybe anything else. Especially errors. I know if I had something just displaying live from the web server it would go by so fast you couldn't see it so I would have to slow it down or something.

I can easily create a .sh file that will execute a command in Terminal, but as soon as it executes the terminal disappears. How do I get it to stay? My idea is to have the keyboard shortcut "ctrl+alt+del" open a .sh file with the contents "ps ax". Then it would be just like having a task manager; the terminal would open with "ps ax" already executed, and all I would have to do is kill the process number.

I have a minecraft server running on ubuntu server edition 10.04 on a headless server. I also have a monitor, but it's a big bulky CRT and my girlfriend doesn't like having a huge amount of stuff tucked behind our chair where the router is (wifi wasn't working right, nor is it stable).
Essentially, when I ssh into the box, it creates a new terminal for me to input things on. That's nice when I need to edit stuff in the background, but when I want to input commands on the server directly, there's no real way to do that without blindly typing on my keyboard on the box itself. Not to mention, I can't see anything if something goes wrong. A friend of mine mentioned the 'screen' command, and that sort of works I guess, but it still doesn't show the minecraft server output, nor let me input.

Since loading Lucid I keep getting pestered with a request to provide a password as the screen is blank.When installing Lucid and applying the Ubuntu-Restricted-Extras the screen went blank during the process and again there was the need to provide a password.Is there some way that I can avoid this continuous need to keep providing this information? It tends to be a pain in the backside.
