After installing everything I neded to get on to the web with my server, I discovered that my www dir only has 20 gb.
How can I increase the the size of my directory?
I got back to my laptop after dinner and found a blank screen with one line of text saying something about running out of swap space - I tried all kinds of key combinations but nothing worked to bring the desktop back - eventually I pressed and held the power button to shut it down - I suppose this is Ubuntu's version of the "blue screen of death"?I went to System - Disk Utility to make a 2GB free space right after the swap space. Then I tried to make that 2GB free space a swap space partition but it came back with an error

myisamchk: Disk is full writing '/tmp/STGL3SGd' (Errcode: 28). Waiting for someone to free space... (Expect up to 60 secs delay for server to continue after freeing disk space)
Our /tmp partition is current set at 485M, but it is not large enough to handle the database fix...
Does anyone know of a work around - perhaps to assign different directory for the temp files?

I checked the partitons with df -h command...the output is :

Clearly /usr has loads of space here...and I dont know /home is mounted with which partiton...I read somewhere that tune2fs command could be useful here...I dont want to experiment and mess up here..

I partitioned a 250 GB portable hard drive into:
/dev/sdb1: 154.76 GiB (with 30 GiB allocated for Ubuntu)
/dev/sdb2 : 78.13 GiB
Ive been using blastclust to analyse some very large data sets, which keeps on crashing due to filesystem running out of disk space.
When I installed Bio-Linux 5.0 from the live cd, the maximum size I could allocate to the install was 30 GiB, and I havent been able to find a way to change this.
Ive tried using System->Administration->Partition Editor using the live cd, and can view / delete the partitions, but I cant find a way to specifically alter the disk space allocation for Ubuntu.
How do I increase the filesystem size to larger than the current 30 GiB?
I have set up squid server. My cache directory has been set up as per following statements.cache_dir ufs /Cache1/squid 10000 16 256cache_dir ufs /Cache2/squid 10000 16 256Now the problem is that size of /Cache1 and /Cache2 has reached to about 8GB and in near future it will reach the maximum limit of 10GB. View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst, I upgraded to F15. All went smooth. No problem. But if I pull up a terminal in KDE via menu->utilities->Terminal, I get a terminal that shows only 3 lines. If I try to increase the size by pulling the edge it locks up the computer. Functions otherwise. This is Gnome Terminal 3.0.1. X terminal works fine. So does Konsole. But not the above application from the menu.

Reading a little, I can try a grub vga setting, but I am not keen as my screen is 1200x800 and X cannot set it otherwise, so I doubt grub could. There's KMS for radeon cards, and the kernel can do what it likes. The biggest font supplied with fedora is sun12x22, which doesn't even have a euro sign. I gather I can go to a height of 32. Anyone know of larger consolefonts, or a wheeze to double the size of one of the others, e.g. lat9w-16? setfont-h32 increases height, but not zoom, so it's like a double spaced console.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed Fedora 15/Gnome 3 because I liked the Universal Access Settings widget for controlling the appearance of my living room computer attached to my TV. It should (when it becomes more stable) make it easy to zoom in on the screen when I'm on the couch. There is also a Large Text setting that allows me to toggle between normal text size and perhaps 125% text size.
I'd like to set that value to about 200%, but don't see how to do it. dconf-editor didn't seem to have a way. gnome-tweak-tool has a way to make all fonts bigger or smaller but I want to easily switch between normal text size when I'm sitting close and large text from the UAS. Screwing around with gnome-tweak-tool would require me to be up-close. It looks like UAS is controlled by /usr/share/gnome-control-center/ui/uap.ui, but it is a wickedly complex xml file & I don't know what to edit. Is there a per user way to change the behavior?

My laptop has 2Gb of ram, 4Gb of swap, 40Gb hdd and an intel pentium 1.40GHz cpu, even when compiling stuff or maxing out everything the 4Gb of swap is never touched, with such a small hdd I'd like to reduce the swap to about 2Gb (just in case) to free up some space, does anyone know what commands/tools are available to accomplish this?
