Feb 3, 2010I have some compressed (tar.gz) files that i need to get users to install on their servers but it becomes a pain some times to explain the command and where to uncompress it to.Is there a way to create an rpm of the files inside the tar.gz so that by just running rpm -ivh "file.rpm" it extracts them to the correct target destination.For example: rpm -ivh "www.rpm" will exact files inside rpm into /var/www

May 5, 2011I observed a problem with the Yahoo Mail Attachments.If I want to attach a file from a drive that's mounted (one of my windows partitions), the file who I attach to mail seems attached but after I send the mail the recipients do not receive my file. First I thought it was a mistake, but then it happened several times. Does anyone know any workarounds except copying the files who you want to send to an Linux drive and then sending it from that location?

Sep 22, 2015I'm working in a school and we have a Apple server, we have many problem with it. So, I would install a linux server instead.
Anyway, there is just one big problem (or I miss a simple tip to do it )
We have 1300 students. If I must create them one by one, that will take a lot of time. Actually with the apple server, we can go on a web interface & import an excel list with theses columns :
"Name", "Login", "Password", "Class", "Group", "HDD Space", "Print quota", "Internet access or not", etc ...
Due to this tool, I can upload an excel files with my 1300 students & a couple hours after, they have an account with a personal space & a shared space with their class.
My question is : This tool exist on Debian/Linux world ?

logining in via kdm works for user. have tried placing an xorg.conf into /etc/X11 with what used to be ok for user to have dri.am using an radeon hd 2400 pcie graphic card. Also placed a file into /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/100-dri.conf again with what used to work to get dri working. Is it me or is slackware graphics gone down hill since 13.0?

Jul 3, 2011Virtual Box doesn't work under ordinary user, though this user is in vboxusers group. Under SU it work normally. This happied after upgrage to 4.0.10-8.1 version from obs://build.opensuse.org/Virtualization community repository. In Oss repository there is 4.0.4 version.
Here the massage, that appears after start of Virtual Box under ordinary user: "Failed to create the VirtualBox COM object.
The application will now terminate.
