I have a command that outputs n lines of text, and I want to place each line into an array element, but I can't seem to get the syntax correct
So my command is this:
cat $configfile | sed -n '/cluster:'$clustername'/,/cluster/ p' | awk /host/
Which produces many lines depending on the value of $clustername. I'd like to get each line as elements of an array.
I am trying a scenario for calling a shell script when ever a trigger is called. Can some one guide me how to achieve this scenario. Also it should passes the value from the table to the shell script. Can some one explain me along with the example.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using MYTHTV with AT&T's U-Verse system. AT&T apparently turns off the set-top box if the box doesn't receive any commands after some number of hours. When this happens the box takes so long to turn on that it doesn't process the lirc IR channel change command. I've rewritten my channel changer to add a lockfile, and added a cron entry to kick off an entry to just "ping" the set-top box once an hour. But, OK, I'd like to play the bandwidth saving game and not do this if there isn't anything in the "record" table.
So, how would I write a script that will check the number of rows in the "record" table in the "mythconverg" database and exit if there are zero rows? I'm afraid I don't know how to even start this. Here is my "keepalive.sh" script that does the pinging:

To me the syntax is correct. It complains with error 1327 'Undeclared variable: temp_sales'. What I don't understand is why I would need to declare a temporary table's name as a variable. Am I missing something here?

I want to create a shell script that I can run as a cron job to do automated backups. how to proceed. I have the source code and have pulled out the backup source files. I would like to a build a CD image (of CentOS 5, x86_64 that loads into memory and boots to the OS without installing anything to hard drives. Then I would like the system to execute a shell script automatically. The shell script will have commands that will control execution.
The goal of this exercise is basically to pre-configure a system (RAID config, BIOS update, etc) automatically using the shell script before installing the OS. I would like the ability to change the shell script as needed and probably repackage the ISO image. I would prefer not to deal with building a source tree to accomplish this. this is something one could do using mkisofs.
I have a box that's used as an SFTP server. All users have restricted shell so they can only use SFTP to send and receive files. But it makes it hard to have them change their passwords. I thought that if we had a web page set up where the user could enter their username, old password, new password and confirmed new password, that this would be the easiest solution.

I just downloaded MySQL-Workbench and I see it in the folder: Code: /usr/bin how do I access it from my desktop without having to tie up my bash shell because the only way I can get to it right now is
