Programming :: How To Transfer Search Output Between Two Server
May 25, 2011
I want to search for 1 file (say test.txt) on first server and all the output of this search to be greped as per my requirement and then transfered on the second server at the same location where they were on first server.
E.g.
output of search of file (test.txt) >> output.txt
/tmp/test.txt
/home/cpan/test.txt
/opt/cpanel/test.txt
Now I want to grep this output to only related to cpanel,
for f in 'cat output.txt'
echo $f | grep "cpanel"
if [ $? -eq 0 ]
then do scp.
But I am bit confused here, as in how to use scp command here.
scp $f root@second_server:/$f ?

I would like to search for a term within a batch of text files and copy the files containing that term to a folder.
I've read the man pages for Grep, Ack-grep and looked through nautilus, dolphin, midnight commander as well as tried beagle, tracker and google desktop (and looked throught these forums).
I can do this function easily with xp's wagging dog in the Windows search, but would like to find a way in Linux.

when the user clicks a button (assume war application) and the action'system.out.println' a message, how can I *remotly* read this message (read the message from a different computer instead of the server)?when I use the eclipse, I can read it from the console but if I'm in adifferent location, how can I see this message remotely?I'm thinking about remote debugging (JPDA), however, it's very difficult to configure in order to make JPDA run. I tried based on tutorial of google search, bug failed.I wonder if remote debugging can actually solve my problem. If not, is there any other to solve

Using a default terminal and bash, there is no functionality to search the standard output of commands.
One can gain such functionality using other tools, like emacs shell or screen, but I am wondering why such a useful feature is missing, I do remember a simple C-F used to work in terminals.
Is there a way to make the Gnome terminal app support output search? or is there a better terminal app that support searching output natively?

I want to pipe the output of a command into grep as the search TERM, rather than the text to be searched, like this for example
Code:
cat /var/log/auth.log | grep date "&b &d"
so that I only see the lines in auth.log for the current day...but obviously that line doesn't work.... is there a way to do this with grep, or even another command?

hey guys, im doing a simple search program and i came up with a problem. What i am trying to achieve is, if the search is false(means the book does exist) , the program will then ask the user to input the information again(title and author) and do a search again until there is no such book and then display a message saying he can input a new book in.i tried using a until loop, but it does not seem to work. some guidance on how the statement should be and where should it be placed?

I need to create a program that has both a server and a client and can transmit PDF and text files between the two using UDP as the underlying carrier while behaving as if it is TCP. We have successfully created a UDP program that can simply transmit strings, but we are not really sure on how to transform this code to do files. We know that we need to use a buffer of some sort to transmit the file in pieces.
Code:
//dg_cli.c
#include "unp.h"
#include "sys/socket.h"
#include "string.h"
#include "stdio.h"
#include "stdlib.h"
#include "arpa/inet.h"
#include "netdb.h"
#include "sys/file.h"
#include "sys/types.h"
void dg_cli(FILE *fp, int sockfd, const SA *pservaddr, so
{ int n;
char sendline[MAXLINE], recvline[MAXLINE + 1];
while (fgets(sendline, MAXLINE, fp) != NULL) {
sendto(sockfd, sendline, strlen(sendline), 0, pse
n = recvfrom(sockfd, recvline, MAXLINE, 0, NULL,
recvline[n] = 0; /* null terminate */
fputs(recvline, stdout); } }
Code:
//dg_echo.c
#include "unp.h"
#include "sys/socket.h"
#include "string.h"
#include "stdio.h"
#include "stdlib.h"
#include "arpa/inet.h"
#include "netdb.h"
#include "sys/file.h"
void dg_echo(int sockfd, SA *pcliaddr, socklen_t clilen)
{ int n;
socklen_t len;
char mesg[MAXLINE];
for ( ; ; ) {
len = clilen;
n = recvfrom(sockfd, mesg, MAXLINE, 0, pcliaddr, &len);
sendto(sockfd, mesg, n, 0, pcliaddr, len); } }
Code:
//udpcli01.c
#include "unp.h"
#include "sys/socket.h"
#include "string.h"
#include "stdio.h"
#include "stdlib.h"
#include "arpa/inet.h"
#include "netdb.h"
int
main(int argc, char **argv)
{ int sockfd;
struct sockaddr_in servaddr;
if (argc != 2) {
fputs("usage: udpcli <IPaddress>", stderr);
exit(0);
} bzero(&servaddr, sizeof(servaddr));
servaddr.sin_family = AF_INET;
servaddr.sin_port = htons(SERV_PORT);
inet_pton(AF_INET, argv[1], &servaddr.sin_addr);
sockfd = socket(AF_INET, SOCK_DGRAM, 0);
dg_cli(stdin, sockfd, (SA *) &servaddr, sizeof(servaddr));
exit(0);
}
Code:
//udpserv01.c
#include "unp.h"

#include "string.h"
#include "stdio.h"
#include "stdlib.h"
#include "arpa/inet.h"

{ int sockfd;
struct sockaddr_in servaddr, cliaddr;
sockfd = socket(AF_INET, SOCK_DGRAM, 0);
bzero(&servaddr, sizeof(servaddr));
servaddr.sin_family = AF_INET;
servaddr.sin_addr.s_addr = htonl(INADDR_ANY);
servaddr.sin_port = htons(SERV_PORT);
bind(sockfd, (SA *) &servaddr, sizeof(servaddr));
dg_echo(sockfd, (SA *) &cliaddr, sizeof(cliaddr));
}
Code:

So last line would look something like this:Mike Had A 100.0 Pound Shark.So there are multplie category of "fish"(Shark, Dolphin, etc.) and each of them have allowed weight (ie. minimum 70.0 Pound Shark, 50.0 Pound Dolphin). If in the found sentence Shark or Dolphin doesn't meet requierments than program named False.exe should be started. I dont know how to make it my self so any help is much appreciated. I'm trying to use sed to search and replace backwards. The problem is that I have a shell script that is required to put commas into big numbers. For example
9999999 as 9,999,999
I've tried a few things, but none seem to work:
Code:
$ echo 9999999 | sed -e 's/([0-9]{3})/,1/g'
,999,9999
$ echo 9999999 | sed -e 's/([0-9]{3})$/1,/g' -e 's/([0-9]{3})/1,/g'
999,999,9,
$ echo 9999999 | sed -e 's/([0-9]{3})$/1,/g' -e 's/([0-9]{3})/,1/g'
[ode]....
It would be much easier if I could search backwards! For example Bash parameter substitution style:
Code:
$ echo 9999999 | sed -e 's%([0-9]{3})%,1%g'

I have an assigment to create UDP file transfer with checksum,but currently i have a problem in transferring the data. The problem is:A.I sent a text file that have approximately 200kb but in the client receive only 100kb... is it fair?B.For text file,I track the result and i found that its okay for the text file. Write counter show 1024 byte every packet i sent. But when i sent mp3 file or pdf file it doenst show like this. For mp3 the data sent every packet i sent is gradually decreased from 1024 byte 1020byte contiounusly.... For pdf data its seems random.

I have configured openssh 5.8p2 with centos 5.6. My sftp is working fine with chroot environment but i am having problem with SCP. I am dealing with muliti Redhat servers. When i try to transfer data from other linux server through scp it gives connection refused. For e.g ssh 5.8 is configured on new server and i want to transfer files from old server which is using openssh 4.3 version.i created same username and password on new server as on old server.My sftp users on new server has no shell access but only sftp access. When i try to scp from old server to new server it gives error connection refused. Is the below configuration only for sftp and can't scp? According to google the configurations i found are for scp and sftp. Do i need to generate ssh keys by giving users on new server shell access, once created then stop shell access again, as i dont want to give shell access permanent for security reasons? but i want to use ssh keys for more security as well.

i need to change a binary file, let's say to find and replace username:
find string: "/home/name/bla-bla-bla/ "
new string: "/home/anewname/bla-bla-bla/ "
i can do it, for example, in emacs (hexl-mode), but interesting in writing a script instead. it will be much more better for me if i could do it automatically. is there an analog of: sed 's/string1/string2/g' ? P.S. the best way is to recompile the binary files i have, but there are no sources available.

I've got a bit of an obscure question for you to test your brains a wee bit. I'm trying to implement a search program to find areas of high density in a binary string.
E.g.
Code:
[0001001010
0001110001
0000001000
1001000010
0101100100]
Where density is the number of 1's / number of digits with a maximum number of digits being the current number in a buffer (in this example 50). So for the example the density for the whole buffer is 15/50. But the density of Buffer[14..20]=[1110001]=4/7. So if looking for areas of density = 1/3 it would find the longest sequences of density over 1/3.So in the example. Buffer[4..9]=[100101]=3/6=1/2 which is above 1/3 but it is within the Buffer[4..48]=[100101000011100010000001000100100001001011001]=15/45=1/3

Any solution using awk/sed/regexp or other standard linux utility (this is for a mix of RH versions)? I am dealing with some very large application log files. I want to see everything that has been written to the log since the last application restart.
For an example take a log file like this:
Code:
# cat test.log
1 msg
2 msg
3 restart 1
4 msg
5 restart 2
6 msg
The following command is close to what I want:
Code:
# awk '/restart/,G' test.log
3 restart 1
4 msg
5 restart 2
6 msg
But the awk command grabs the first restart not the last. If it was working the way I wanted I would see something like this:
Code:
# awk '/restart/,G' test.log
5 restart 2
6 msg
So, I need something in that search pattern that says look for the last occurrence. I know how to do this with a pipe line - I could reverse the file and then do a similar awk and reverse back, or I could find the number associated with the last restart and then use that in the awk search. But these just take too long because the file is too big.

Im trying to read a file in c++ and search for particular character for example if this is a list that I have:
Alice
Bob
David
[code]....
if the input is D, it should give David, if its B, gives bob. so in this case, meaning it reads the first character of every line. but if possible I want to make this dynamic so the user can specify which character position he is looking for, so in case he is looking for R as character index 3 in all lines, it should give Charlie. but the problem is, it does now recognize , besides, I do not know how to specify the character position in each line.
here is my code
Code:
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <cstring>

I have an application with a complex binary build procedure which links against 30+ application library archives and an array of system library archives. The problem I'm having is the link ordering. Is there a way to tell the g++ linker to keep searching the libraries for unresolved references, regardless of order, instead of rearranging the order the archives are listed on the command line for a one-time-pass? I'm using g++ 3.2.3 on a Linux AS v3update6 machine.
