Programming :: How To Force Scons To Use Cross Compiler

I have a large existing codebase that all compiles under Ubuntu 8.04 with g++ using Scons. I've been given the task of getting it to compile for Arm9 running uclinux. I have a arm-elf-g++ compiler that I need to use instead of the gcc version. I ended up borking my /usr/lib/scons/SCons/Tool/g++.py file to use arm-elf-g++ instead of g++, but I know that this is not correct, as I have to go edit that file every time I change compilers.
These are the 2 lines I switch out:

I simply can not find anywhere in the scons documentation that indicates how to tell it to use a different compiler. It seems that it would go under "Environment" but beyond that I'm lost. The CPPPATH variable seems like it only tells scons where to find #include files. I suppose I could rename arm-elf-g++ to g++ and just set my path to find that one first, but that seems like a bit of a hack as well. It would also break other things on my machine.
I am using a arm compiler to build my program but getting following compiler error at the end - init.c.text+0x2c): undefined reference to '__libc_csu_fini' init.c.text+0x34): undefined reference to '__libc_csu_init'
I am trying to build a cross GCC compiler for PPC476. I applied all the relevant patches. Cross compiler build was successful. When I try to compile the source code using the cross compiler I am getting the below error message. I think this is something related to linker.

I am trying to build a gcc 4.4.3 cross-compiler. I downloaded the gcc 4.4.3 release, uncompressed it, made a new directory called gccbuild and cd'd there. I have already installed gmp, mpfr, and mpc in /usr/local. These are the commands I used:

I am preparing build chain for cross compiling Power PC platform on Ububtu. I was successfully compiled glibc-2.11 and binutils-2.20. But while compiling gcc_4.5.1 I stopped at following compilation error:

I am just learning to write programs in C++, and i got an iPod Touch for christmas. I have jailbroken my iPod so i can run my own programs on it. If i ever get them compiled. After a few hours of searching i have been unable to come up with a working toolchain for ubuntu which compiles for ipod/iphone. Does anyone know where i can get one/find a howto which will help me to get a toolchain working?
first of all, i will be glad if i can get prebuild toolchain for target=arm1176jzf-s on host= sparc-sun-solaris2.10. ( i hav browsed but can't find prebuild one) so, i tried to establish by myself i hav established binutils first, but while trying to configure& build gcc(gcc4.4.0) , i was interrupted with following error.. error message: this error has come while building boot strap gcc for cross complier tools chain

I have downloaded the source for an embedded Linux system but no tool chain. I want/need a tool chain to rebuild the system image. Can anyone point me to a 'How to' for building the environment? It is an ARM9 system.
I need to generate 64-bit executable(utility) using PowerPC-linux cross compiler? i.e. Any options need to pass ppc-gcc other then "-m64". I have written a small test program on 64-bit server and generated 64-bit executable using gcc alone.

Actually I want to generate a executable(using PowerPC-linux cross compiler),which will run on 64-bit machines. In my Makefile I am trying to use CC = XXXXX/powerpc-linux/bin/powerpc-linux-gcc -m64 to ppc-linux-gcc,but giving error. error: -m64 not supported in this configuration If I remove -m64 its generating 32-bit executable.
I have searched google for a couple of days, and I keep hearing about an INode limit on filesystems, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Now whenever I try to download something, watch a ..... video, or listen to Pandora radio, it just stops playing after 2 seconds. Downloading says "No space left on device".I also get the error as root.I do have 5% and more free of HDD space. I am trying to install NachOS on fedora, i make a nachos directory and download the nachos source code and cross compiler, then i extract the zip files and patch the make files and everything is okay till now. but when it comes to compiling nachos, i followed these steps.

I want to run a program under ... something like strace, something like gdb. Let's call the something Fred. Every time I run a particular program under Fred, it detects when a system call is about to take place or a signal has occurred, and traps to Fred, which decides dynamically how to respond, whether the stimulus is a signal or an attempted open(), close(), read(), write(), socket(), connect(), listen(), select(), ioctl(), time(), or whatever. Although strace does this marvelously, what I'd like Fred to do is use code that I supply to doctor up what the subject program sees. In the case of write(), it should be able to modify what actually gets written. In other words, a hard shell environment around the program which completely mediates between the subject program and the outside world. I'll start with the source code for strace and gdb if I have to. But has this been done already?
I am trying to cross-compile my Qt application for armhf on Jessie, so what I did was install qt5-default:armhf, but when I tried running qmake I found out that it contains also an armhf version of qmake so I was not able to run it.Then I installed the amd64 version to have at least a runnable version of qmake, but it was only to find out that qmake contains only hardcoded paths, so I could not use it for the armhf libraries, well I could but I had to run qmake (amd64 version) and afterwards open the makefile and change all paths from amd64 to armhf.
But as this is not so convenient I was wondering if there is a normal way to do this, I know you can compile the source yourself but I had quite a lot of problems with dependencies there. Is it possible with the standard repository binaries or should I just go back to compiling the source myself? Maybe I can compile only the building tools without building all the libraries I already got from the repository.
What are the availability`s for cross platform sql , gui, application development using raw code in the Debian environment. I would rather work with raw code. I have written a program that I would like to cross compile for x86 and x86_64 architectures. I have tried google and the search function here to no success, most information I find is too specific (instructions for a specific program), or dealing with cross compiling for windows on linux.Does anyone know of a tutorial dealing with straight making a 32 bit binary on a 64 bit processor (both are intel)?

I'm looking for a way to create a cross-platform GUI application. The result must be able to run on linux, windows and OSX. And it must be a point-and-click GUI.For development I should be able to rely on Open-Source tools on linux only (that means no access to Windows or OSX)The target should be able to install the result relatively easily, that means any dependencies must be freely available, and the setup steps must be very minimal (probably means no installing development tools or running compilers)
My first thought was java, but the standard Swing GUI can look a bit ugly on some platforms. So I'm wondering if there's anything else. My next thought was C++/Qt, but I don't think I can cross-compile this from Debian for Windows or OSX, can I? Next I thought of python and PyQt, but it looks like PyQt isn't available for OSX. And finally I even thought of making some kind of web application running on a tiny web server of some kind, then accessing it with a native browser, but I'm pretty sure this doesn't meet the "easy to install" criteria. I'm finding this so tricky, do all the existing cross-platform applications use natively-compiled C++ for this? Or is there an obvious alternative that I'm overlooking?
I need to cross-compile some libs for using in a ARM11 board running Linux (at this time, 2.6.28, but I'll try update it... and for costs reason, maybe it turns on a ARM9 board). The libs are libfprint, libusb-1.0 (that is a requirement of libfprint), libSDL (and some of its extensions) and maybe libsqlite3. How I can make this, with the development files in the host machine (an Ubuntu 10.04 32bits machine) and the runtime files at the host ARM11 Board.
I recently faced a problem. At my college, I linked my laptop with my friend's laptop with an ad-hoc wifi network. I wanted to send him a file. I was running Ubuntu, and he was running XP. Unfortunately, I could not find an easy way to send him the file. Another problem I faced was when I wanted to transfer the contents of my hard disk to another computer. I had to install Filezilla server on the other computer, and upload the files from one computer to the other.
I feel that its a really cumbersome method of transferring files in the same network. Mobile phones have bluetooth, and a file can be sent to another mobile very easily without any fuss. Does anyone know whether any such program exists already? If not, I want to write such a program that will allow one user to add another user to a personal network, and send or recieve files and/or communicate in other ways. The only language I know is Python (self-taught). I was wondering what GUI framework to use. I've never written a GUI program before, and would like to hear your opinions. This will be a very basic program, and must be able to run on many platforms.
I wanted to compile a program for my openwrt router from source i already have but to add an option. I ran ./autogen.sh in the terminal but it returned aclocal not found.

I was finding a cross Platform library that allow you to run another program from your C++ application. I found POCO but it does not support functionality like WaitFOrMultipleObjects for both (linux and windows). I tried boost Process but its not official till now.
I'm trying to persuade my classmate migrating to linux but they always fall back to windows when homeworks require creating GUI (graphical user interface) applications. Not only because C# and Window forms/WPF is so sissily easy to use. But some teachers only test homework on Window machine. I have tried pyGTK and wxPython but they have some flaws. wxPython seem a little bit messy with so many look-alike class name and it's ID based event binding is somewhat awkward. pyGTK seems nice and neat but it doesn't have Mac port yet.
