Programming :: Getting Permissions Denied Error In Every IDE
Jun 8, 2010
I have three partitions. One for each: Windows, Debian and my files. I wanted a partition available in all systems, so I created FAT32 and mounted it as /data and drive D. In linux I created symlinks in my /home folder to /data/documents/xxx/xxx. I wanted to save my projects on that partition, but in every IDE I tried I get the permission denied error.
Screenshot
What should I do to make /data writable for IDEs? As normal user I have full access to it.
My /usr/lib/cgi-bin/script.cgi must create a directory in my /home/myname directory, but in firefox appears:Quote:Software error:Cannot mkdir: Permission denied at /usr/lib/cgi-bin/script.cgi line 17.For help, please send mail to the webmaster (webmaster@localhost), giving this error message and the time and date of the error
My Torrents will not start due to a "Permissions denied" error. The folders with the files being download have it set 777, so I'm thinking it's something else. When I look at the auth log, It does appear that it is that folder causing the issue.I can keep guessing the cause of permissions, but I do not know how to trace the problem.
I mount a partition to a directory and ls -liah tells me that everyone has read/write/execute permissions on the whole thing, but I try to save a file into the partition and I get an access denied error. First of all this doesn't make sense because ls is telling me I do have access.
Then it gets weirder. I run sudo chown -R me:me directory. The command exits without error, but then when I go and look at the directory again with ls, it still shows up as owned by root and I still have the same problem. This is particularly strange because I am still able to change permissions normally in the operating system filesystem. It just won't work on the mounted partition.
I have a written a java code to ftp a file from the windows box to unix box. It keeps giving me the following error : "java.io.FileNotFoundException: PORT 204,63,56,5,16,78: 550 Permission denied." I am able to ftp manually from windows to unix.
I have installed it++ on suse11.2 I have downloaded an example project and everytime i try to "make"..error "/bin/sh: line 1: .dependencies: Permission denied" comes up.I have tried to run as root but this hangs on "checking dependencies" and gives no action.
Just started using Fedora 10 and having a problem with evolution address book.I have checked the permissions on 'system' but they seem ok - owner was set to rwx, I changed the other permissions just to check but still get the error. Not sure what to check now as it claims its a permission error but the permissions seem ok.
I just converted to Fedora from Ubuntu and I have some questions: 1. How can I install nvidia driver? There is no 'jockey-gtk' in my fedora :3 (video card is nvidia 7200GS) 2. whats the equivalent for 'ubuntu-restricted-extras' in fedora? (ubuntu-restricted-extras is a package for A/V codecs, Java, microsoft fonts and Flash plugin) 3. I just move data from other hard disk to the fedora ones and now all the folders are locked (lock icon).
I try with: su chown -R fedora:fedora /home/fedora but the permissions are denied for gvfs.
I'm trying to create a folder using the archive manager to install Resin (web server) in the usr/local folder but I get the error message 'error creating directory: Permission denied.'
Is this the easiest way to install an app--by using the Archive Manager--and if so how do I establish the correct permissions.
I have a problem with sshfs. I want to share a binary with some others computers, but i only want them to be able to execute (no read/write ). So, on my main server, I chown root:root bin & chmod 701 bin. That work nicely on main server, local users can execute bin w/o read/write ... But when I mount directory using sshfs, users cant exec/read/write ...
SSHFS version 2.2 FUSE library version: 2.8.4 fusermount version: 2.8.4 using FUSE kernel interface version 7.12
I am developing a java application that deals with the parallel port I used the parport library, I have the following problem: I am using netbeans 6.9 and linux redhat, when I run the code (java code that controls parallel port) from netbeans I get: "ioperm error: Operation not permitted" I used the "clean and build" function in Netbeans to create the jar file (test.jar) then I changed the permission of the test.jar to root using this command "chmod 4777 test.jar" and the test.jar file worked just fine as a stand alone file, but I still get the same error message when I try to run the program from Netbeans
Gives error message permission denied. I've seen this in your forums but I still haven't found the fix. I've tried the latest release Wubi downloader too. This one is ran from a CD. Version 10.04
So I wanted to replace my password prompt with this:it says to write it over the system files in ubuntu, under usr/share/gnome-screensaverbut i cant do that, as it says permissions are denied...

wrote a simple script that will Parse Secure log find the failed login attempts, and strip out the IP Address. Then take those address and create a file listing them. Thx to colucix for the awk understanding which is then fed into Nmap grabbing OS and Ports that are open on that remote machine -> output is shoved threw Sed only grabbing the Characteristics I felt were need. The output from that is piped into another Directory called Nmap/ and files are created with the output and ipaddress for the file name;
Then that same list that was fed into Nmap is fed into Whois and output is shoved into SED striping out the non-sense getting only valuable info. Those are then put into the Whois/ with the file names being the IP Address and whois info dumped into them. There are lots of paths I can go to continue the chain with all this info... But for now it just merges the Whois Info and Nmap Info into a Master File which is then fed to ssmtp to send an email with the Info to whatever address you like.Put it in a cron job, and it executes every night at 11pm with the secure log being rotated out at 1105pm. Cycle is then repeated. Like I said this is really my first Bash Script.
I have done Batch script with, remote printer mappings, and default printer setups. But thats here nor thereWhat I am really looking for since this script is functional, is your criticism and your technique on another way of accomplishing the objective your critiquing. Just trying to build my skills and look at this process from another perspective.
Code: echo 'Grabbing the IPs' # Grabbing IP's from secure log, putting them in the ip array, and then spiting out the
i'm trying to run some code i had written a couple of weeks ago in windows :$, the program has to create and copy some files and when i try to run this code in monodevelop this error:Unhandled Exception: System.UnauthorizedAccessException:Access to the path '/tmp' is denied.i've tried to change the path where i know i have read/write permissions but it doesn't seem to work, the code was originally written to create a file in the Temp folder in windows.
I have a shared directory on another machine but I can't get it to mount. The permission denied doesn't say where/which permission is denied. Is it on the remote on on the local machine? The remote has sharing enabled for the shareddocs directory and after I have mkdir'ed the local mount point I open it's permissions too.
The verbose response from mount.cfis looks like this:
mount.cifs kernel mount options: unc=//192.168.1.102shareddocs,domain=WORKGROUP,ver=1,rw ,username=clive,,,,,,,,,,,ip=192.168.1.102,pass=** ****** mount error(13): Permission denied Refer to the mount.cifs( manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) The man page does not have a list of error codes.
I've just recently started learning shell scripting and I've been working on a basic csh script, but I've been having a few problems. Here's the script
Code: #!/bin/csh echo Enter a file name $< = FILE ##Name of file echo enter a size (in kilobytes) to monitor SIZETOMON = $< ##Size value that's input by user du -k $FILE = $SIZE ##Size of the file that the user wishes to monitor while (1) if $SIZE > $SIZETOMON then echo ALERT: File size is greater than $SIZETOMON end
And here's the output Code: /home/lucer/foo.txt: Permission denied. Badly placed ()'s.
I'm not really sure what the issue is with the "badly placed ()'s" or why it won't let me access files that I can access with the same shell when it's not in a script.
I want to install Ubuntu 4.10. But I get error permission denied face. I do not have CD-ROM. How can I do this?Is it possible to install via USB? [URL]
When trying to mount samba share off of domain member server sysimage in Windows receive error "There are currently no logon servers available to service this logon request". When trying to mount.cifs from PDC to samba share on sysimage receive error "mount error(13): Permission denied".
PDC is ClearOS 5.2 named "dc0" Samba file server is CentOS 5.5 x86_64 named "sysimage" dc0 Samba version is samba - 3.5.5-1.1.v5.i386 sysimage Samba version is samba-3.0.33-3.29.el5_5.1.x86_64
dc0 is configured correctly to my knowledge, windows machines can join domain, domain users can log into windows machines, user directories are mapped properly, logon scripts run properly. sysimage ldap authentication is set up as shown in "Procedure 7.1.
I have not done the SMTP debug yet but just from basic troubleshooting, I think I know what the problem is. My mail server is rejecting my web server from sending mail due to 'relay access denied':
Code: root@www:# telnet mail.domain.tld 25 Trying 211.113.101.135... Connected to mail.domain.tld. Escape character is '^]'.
I cannot install files from source (tar.bz, tar.bz2, tar.gz, etc) my latest attempt began at tuxfiles. following the 'tutorial', if you will, I managed to unpack the files; but when it came to the ./configure step, I got the following error: zsh: no such file or directory: ./configure
Here I figured different distros, slight variances, so instead I tried putting a space in the command (./ configure), and got this error. zsh: permission denied: ./
So finally I tried both ./configure and ./ configure as su and I still got the same errors... this is the same problem that I've always had when installing from source. I am using Fedora 12.
I am writing a bash script to run everyday and output results to a file. When the same results are produced i want to overwrite the line from the previous day. (Or remove and add). So if the script finds a variable in a line. i want it to output the results to that line . sed -i did not work for me; sed: couldn't open temporary file ./sedTvOCEg: Permission denied
In user mode [non-root] linux machine, tried to bind a socket by using a"ioctl(iInterfaceSocket, SIOCSIFADDR, &stCommand)". I am getting error 13 -> Permission denied because of user mode. If change from usermode to kernel mode everything works fine.I need to bind the socket in user mode only, please suggest solution for the abovewhile explaining the above,
I had Fedora 8 installed in few clients and a server (same server for NFS and NIS), and NIS and NFS configured, and was working fine. Yesterday, I upgraded few client computers to Fedora 15 (server is still same), and configured NFS and NIS client. NFS is working fine, I can see home directories.
For NIS: ypwhich, ypcat passwd gives me correct uutput, ypbind is running. The problem is, I can't login to NIS client. The error is: Permission denied, please try again. My nssswitch.conf is
