I have observed in a process's log file that it is receiving a number of connections from other processes running on the same box.
For example, I see lines of the following:
While I can use "netstat -tlp | egrep '5870|5871'" to see the PID of the listening process. How is it can I find out what PIDs are sending from 23870 and 23548?
I'm testing my mail server, and sending email works fine. However, when I tried to send emails to my server from gmail, I get this log:

And this is strange. 174.132.240.146 seems to be the web address 'net.net'. I am sure this has to be some setting in postfix, cuz its trying to deliver the email to 'fidelix@net', and that cant be right.

When I run apps like mplayer to use my web cam it uses /dev/video#. For reason unknown to me this number changes and is usually either 1 or 0. I have looked on the Internet after struggling to find how to know which /dev/video device is used. So far I can only presume I have used the wrong terms to find how to determine which device the web cam is using.

getcpu() and sched_getcpu() are two that I found, but when I include the appropriate header files (linux/getcpu.h, and sys/sched.h respectively), gcc says getcpu.h doesn't exist and the linker complains it cannot find the implementation in sched.h.
I'm sure I'm doing something really stupid or overthinking...
What I am doing is running an OpenMP application and specifying a list of cpu cores to run on with GOMP_CPU_AFFINITY. I want to make sure that each core is getting the same number of threads.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been requested to modify a perl backup script we use which mounts a networked NAS machine. The actual mount command is called inside a system() command. In testing, I can do a test of the return value, so I'm able to tell whether or not I've mounted properly, but I can't make heads or tails out of the return on deliberate errors. (Such as mounting a non-existent box.) I'm displaying the returned value, which is 256 in my tests. The man page for mount listed error messages with values from 1 to 64, but no higher. Am I drawing this error value from the system command somehow? And what would be the best way to determine what this error means?

I have created my custom certificate using SSL. I've created the Postfix's main.cf file following a tutorial on the net. Currently mails are going fine, but with our local email_ids. I want Postfix to rewrite our local email_ids with the equivalent email_id on the net.
After configuring sendmail in Linux I am able to send a mail once only. After that whenever I try to send a mail like this:

EHLO localhost.url
MAIL To: susan@url
RCPT To: harry@localhost.url

after that whenever I press enter it gives me an error :
Sender Already Specified 503.5.2
Can anyone tell me why it gives this error and how can I remove this error by doing changes in which file and how?
I have a mail script that has been running on my website for several years. One problem I had with the script was when a bad address was put in, the mail was rejected to the server rather than to the sender. I have now recently added a fifth parameter to the mail script using the -f sendmail option to set the return path.

I can not find a way of removing original email addresses from a email I wish to forward so I can maintain the privacy of the original sender.

How can I change this? I found the sendmail.cf, which I believe previous people have been editing directly, which from what I read isn't the best way to configure sendmail.

I need to have a postfix server to rewrite the sender's address. For example, if the sender is: [URL], then the recipient would receive all emails from [URL] as [URL]. I tried using the generic file and created a table out of it, but this did not work:

I am running two boxes with postfix 2.3.3. and 2.1.1 respectively. Both need this configuration. I also added this line:
smtp_generic_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/generic
on the main.cf file. However, this did not work. The one running postfix 2.3.3 is on Centos 5.5, the other one is on SuSe Enterprise 9.
Ubuntu 9.04 - recently, I have been getting a newsletter from a certain sender. If I select the mail even to delete it ( not opening it ) Evolution promptly shuts down.
So long as I don't even put the mouse cursor on the offending mails, there is no problem. Now, I am building up a nice collection of unread mails which I cannot delete.
I would like to modify my init.gz and add udp-sender to this image. After copying the program compiled on my system to init image I have error when I try run udp-sender: udp-sender not found When I checked ldd I saw that the some libraries are missing. I copied them from my system but still got the same error. how can I compile program for my init.gz?

The message is 'Sender address rejected: Domain not found' in the postfix mail logs. Fair enough, there may be an A record or MX record problem there, but there is nothing I can do about this with the Sender at present. Mail *will* come through from the invalid domain if I delete

I have added the Domain in question as an 'OK', both by name and by IP address, to: /etc/postfix/recipient_access, then used postmap to successfully create the database which appears as: recipient_access.db
ie recipient_access (not recipient_access.db) has contents: invalid-domain-name.com OK ; the space betw is a tab space 123.456.789.012OK ; the space betw is a tab space I suspect the failure is something to do with postmap and the recipient_access.db database file created by postmap, but just cannot work this out. Running: postconf -d indicates that the hash format is the default database format

I need to override envelope sender address from UserID@Servername.Domain to UserID@domain when sending mails from my Linux server.
1. currently if send a mail, it arrives as myuserid@linuxserver.domain.com instead of myuserid@domain.com.
2. Also, the mail is not being sent to other domains outside our comp network.
i have installed redhat 5.3 and install sendmail on it.it is working perfectly fine.my question is|:
(1) can i restrict the sender and receivers email in sendmail?eg. i want to do that i want to allow only particular email addresses to send and receive and all other will be discarded
(2) i made aliases for all user but it only receives received mail copy i want both sent and receive mail copy in aliases.
block incoming email within either postfix or spamassassin when the sender equals the recipient. The manner in which our mail infrastructure is set up would preclude this from happening. Granted, we do have outside vendors that spoof our domain so we have to allow emails in with our domain as the sender/from. The vendors do not, however, utilize the same sender/recipient when sending emails.

In fact I'd even say it works too well: in squirrelmail, I can configure any sender address and my server will accept it. Message will be sent, wether the sender's address is [URL] or [URL]. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have setup up an Opensuse as a simple we/application server.It handles requests for various things and will need to send out email on occasion for things like password reset requests, information / warnings etc. etc.This is a standard OPenSuse 11.x install with defaults so it comes with Postfix as the mta.I do not want a mail server I just want to send out via my clients mail server which is hosted exchange rackspace, which simply requires SMTP auth to do so.What would be the proper way to do this so ALL e-mail send from this machine, regardless of account like WWWRun or when logged in and sending from the command line has the same sender all the time.
