I have installed opensuse 11.1 in my pc and I also install the xmgrace package. However, in the xmgrace some the Symbol list in the font tool menu some symbols does not work! for example the symbols: Eur,infinity, sum, partial derivative, not equal, plus or minus, etc...

The password mask (*******) symbol font size is smaller than any other password prompt (for instance gksudo). Is it only me ?
Should I report it as a bug ?
It's a minor problem but may be it's caused from something more serious as I have other problems.
Also this dialog window (of the keyring prompt) doesn't "woble". By that I mean that the effects that I've set are not applied to this window?

Having a problem with the menu font colour in GTK apps (firefox & thunderbird).
All menus in all other apps have the correct font colour (black) but as you can see in this screenshot the font colour is white for thunderbird.
The only way I can find to change the text to black is to change in Configure Desktop > Appearance > Colours The setting for "selected text" to black.
Now I could be wrong - but I am pretty sure this should not be the setting that effects the menu colour in GTK apps.

Using QTCurve window style Have also set GTK Style and Fonts to use QTcurve and KDE font settings.
I do remember QTCurve in Opensuse had a button to apply its settings to KDE3 & GTK apps but this is not present in the QTCurve version on 11.3
For PE executable, I can list the imported symbols using
dumpbin /imports FILE.EXE
or using the depends utility which is GUI application.
`nm ELF-binary' just returns "no symbols".

Since certainly half a year I have to add the vga=0x317 parametere at the end of the root parameter in the menu.lst file after each upgrade of the kernel and also recently after upgrading from 11.1 to 11.3. Without this, the splash screen is not shown on my HP Pavilion laptop.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHere's what i'm trying to do: i have a 300GB IDE hard drive that has a OpenSuse build. I am trying to replicate this HD so that i can have another box similar to the original one...my second drive is 500GB SATA.
So far, I just ran a 'dd' command to copy the 300GB to 500GB. Now, after having read on internet, i realized i need to change fstab & /boot/grub/menu.lst. specifically, we need to change for ex:/dev/disk/by-id/ata-Maxtor_7L300S0_L60LCJ0G-part1 to /dev/disk/by-id/sda1 i did use a Ubuntu LiveCD to access the fstab and changed the line as mentioned above. Now, how do i change the menu.lst?? right now, when i try booting up from this HD, i have issues. specifically, i get this error message: could not find /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
I've recently installed suse x64 kde in dual boot mode with windows. I have 2 primary partitions with ntfs with 1 for windows7 boot and other for data/storage. There is no boot provision for data partition. SUSE install is on extended partition. I am unable to run fdisk -l and boot info script for some reason, kde is freaking me out (used to use gnome for last 4 years). The GRUB shows data as a boot and it added an entry in its menu. I will like to remove that entry from menu list.

At the moment it shows Windows XP, Ubuntu, Ubuntu recovery mode & like 2 more.. which are also Ubuntu & recovery mode. I've never selected the other Ubuntu ones, only the first one. So, how can I remove the ones I don't want to show on the list.

ive made a slight mistake on my Ubuntu 9.10 64bit. I was trying to get Voodoo Motion Tracking software to work, and it was having trouble locating some Qt Libs, so I decided it was a good idea to move its included libs into /user/lib32 directory. Voodoo now works, but Skype instead comes up with:

The most recent update impacted my thunderbird-3.0. When launched I get these error messages

I want to try mixxx (found here) I installed the most recent package by using the ppa of the project (as described here) Install seems to be ok (no error messages)But when I try to run mixxx from the menu nothing happens. View 4 Replies View RelatedHow do I get debug symbols for glibc? I'm using oprofile when profiling applications. Unfortunately, the default glibc version that comes with SUSE 11.1 has the debug symbols stripped-out. That means that all libc functions get aggregated into one big blob under "glibc.so" and you can't tell whether you spend most of the time in memory allocation, syslog or lock related routines.
So, I've tried a myriad of different ways of getting the symbols. From trying to build glibc myself to hunting for dozens of different rpms on this site and on the Internet. So far - no positive results.
My sytem: OpenSUSE 11.1, x86-64.

to install debug symbols for okular which seems to crash quite often for me. However gdb and the kde crash application are unable to find them. The kde app says its not a good crash report and I should follow the guide.. which has already been done.

I'm having issues changing the canvas size. I'd like to overlay two graphs and hence I wish to extend the canvas and shift one graph up and the other down and perform an overlay. Everytime I attempt to change the canvas size I run into issues with the canvas not being able to extended to twice the height. I am changing the dpi values. Anyone know a smart way of doing this? I am changing through the print setup options.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was trying to switch the menu tool bar from the top to the bottom which I successfully done, however the tutorial that I followed first said to right click and delete the lower tool bar. I thought the tutorial would eventually give the instructions to recreate the open window/page tabs in the top of screen but it doesn't. Now each open page overlap each other so I have to collapse each page to see what id below each one.
Firefox is fine, its just when opening up multiple programmes on the desktop.
I'm fine with the 'Terminal' if there's some code to recover this area.
I've just noticed my Dolphin compress service menu doesn't compress anything except for '*.zip'. It used to compress '*.tar.gz' and '*tar.bz2' but now none of these work, and the bz2 option is gone altogether.Does anyone know what might have happened?I have openSUSE 11.3 & KDE 4.6, but this happened before I upgraded to KDE4.6 just a few days ago, so it's not KDE4.6 related, maybe 4.5? maybe Dolphin?I also tried to install the extract/compress plugin but it says "Could not find program 'compress_TARBZ2.sh'" which all are in my /bin folder.
