View 9 RepliesI'm having problems connecting to the mysql database on my system. I first noticed this when I was trying to set up the program anymeal. I subsequently tried using MySQL Administrator (mysql-admin), but had no luck. It gives my the following feedback:
Code:
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)
Click the 'Ping' button to see if there is a networking problem. I press the ping button, and it seems to connect.

I have installed mysql in my local machine having centos. i also installed nagios in the same machine nagios is running fine by monitoring the local host. Now i need to monitor the local MySQL database and so i installed check_mysql_health plugin and followed the steps as given in the file.
when i try to give the command
./check_mysql_health -H mysqlhost --user nagios --password wipro --mode threads-connected
i got the error like

i have two machines at home running ubuntu linux and windows connected by lan. on ubuntu machine i have mysql installed, how do i go about accessing ubuntu mysql database on my windows machine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:

I'm try to setup a database server using mysql, the server starts fine, and I can access it using the built in mysql client via console (adding databases and tables works fine), but the problem is... I always get a connection refused error whenever I access the database outside the built in mysql client (example, if I write a code that connects to mysql). So, I tried execute an nmap command and the only ports open are these ports:
[Code]....
there's no 3306 for mysql... I'm thinking that the firewall is just blocking the port that mysql is using, but my question is, how could the built in client connect to the server if there's no open port for mysql server? Don't clients usually access a servers through ports?
What commands can be used to install software such as "phpMyAdmin" to Fedora? As I am setting up Apache in Fedora. How to install "phpMyAdmin" and setup phpMyAdmin, so that I can use internet explorer to manage the phpMyAdmin to configure the MySQL database remotely.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded and installed MySQL-client-5.1.53-1.glibc23.x86_64.rpm. I'm rather new to linux so it might be I haven't started the server. Unfortunately I have no idea which file is responsible for that. It is also possible that my head isn't functioning correctly ( if at all ).
Error I receive is:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
I've setup a CentOS apache web server, and loaded a site onto it. The site previously was functioning under windows xp (before I "stepped in") and wamp. What I did was copy the site in /var/www, reconfigure the httpd.conf (DocumentRoot /var/www/site, etc). Although when I try to open the webpage I get this error: Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:The MySQL adapter "mysql" is not available.

My existing MySQL database is running on 11.1. I plan to do a fresh install of 11.3 in order to utilize the trimming feature for SSD drives. How should I install my MySQL database to the new version? Do I perform a backup then restore to the new install? Or can I just save the mysql db files to a cd and somehow attach it to the new install?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to create a database with the mysql that came with the suse installation, my problem is that i can't get mysqladmin to work it spits out this: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)' Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/run/mysql/mysql.sock' exists! So I'm stuck at square one php info() seems ok with the installation and the installed client connects to my remote DB ok. I checked the server with ps -ef | grep mysqld and I get the following:
2438 2436 0 15:47 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/mysqld --defaults-file=/home/ben/.local/share/akonadi//mysql.conf --datadir=/home/ben/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/ --socket=/home/ben/.local/share/akonadi/socket-linux-ygk7.site/mysql.socket root 6248 6151 0 16:01 pts/0 00:00:00 grep mysqld
Which doesn't really mean a lot to me but looks ok, anyway my question boils down to does anyone have any obvious ideas of what I'm doing wrong or is, as others have hinted, suse's mysql installation is broken?
i am using liferay5.2(mysql included in the download pack) on fedora. while liferay is working fine but i cannot connect to mysql.i am getting the error

Enable remote access to MySQL database server I used the link above to enable remote access to mysql for a specific user. But when I try to telnet 3306 or user mysqladmin to connect, both just hang there. Using mysql 5.0 on opensuse 11.1

* Stopping MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
* Starting MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
* Checking for corrupt, not cleanly closed and upgrade needing tables.
So because of this in the roundcube configuration its giving the error message that MYSQL is not installed. So Kindly give me a idea how to solve this.

I've been attempting to set up a LAMP for local web development, which meant installing mysql-server. But now have a problem when trying to run mysql, I get:-
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
When trying to downgrade mysql-server I saw that there are dependency problems between the various modules (but can't recall which). But whichever route I truied the results are always the same.
Thought about trying XAMPP but I note that even has it's problems, is there any way I can get a lamp set up on FC14, or must I give it up as a bad job.
Howver, just been trying to again to fix the problems with downgrading mysql and get:-

Requires: mysql(x86-32) = 5.1.55-1.fc14
Removing: mysql-5.1.55-1.fc14.i686 (@updates)
mysql(x86-32) = 5.1.55-1.fc14
i want to setup a mysql server, however,,there are no mysql packages version 5.1.53 in the opensuse 11.3 repo's even not phpmyadmin where can i find mysql, mysql-client, mysql-community-server for version 5.1.53?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI upgraded a system from 10.3 to 11.4 and I get the following error when trying to run mysql:
Will update MySQL now, if you encounter any problems, please read following file:
/usr/share/doc/packages/mysql-community-server/README.SuSE
Log files inconsistency, please merge following files manually:
/var/lib/mysql/mysqld.log
/var/log/mysqld.log
How can I correct this? Mysql will not start so I can not run any of the utilities.
On Windows and Mac it's as simple as downloading some WAMP and XAMP stack and clicking "install".
On OpenSUSE I'm trying to do it myself. I went into YaST and installed the "Web and LAMP Server" pattern.
Then I edited the default-server.conf file to point towards my website by changing the DocumentRoot and <Directory "blah blah"> lines.
Then I tried to start apache, but got the following error:
Code:
# apache2ctl restart
httpd2: Syntax error on line 188 of /etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Could not open configuration file /etc/apache2/sysconfig.d/include.conf: No such file or directory
So I just went into httpd.conf and commented out that line.

I am looking for a way to set a default for new users for the akonadi mysql.conf file that is created for each user for the akonadi database. Usually this file contains a inno_db_log_file_size of 64MB. Because of this the database eats up 64MB storage even if its still empty. I would like to decrease this size globally for each "new" user since we have very tight storage restrictions on our NFS home directories now. And 64MB make up already have the quota each user has. So this is to much. where is this default mysql.conf file taken from?
I found hints that there used to be a /usr/share/config/akonadi/mysql-global.conf file that was simply copied but I cannot find such a file on my 11.4 system. It seems things have changed. how akonadis user specific mysql.conf file in ~/.local/share/akonadi/ is generated for a new user? How can I use my own template file here?
i am trying to set up LAMP on an old pc i have installed linux, apache, mySQL and PHP following this guide Installing Apache2 With PHP5 And MySQL Support On OpenSUSE 11.3 (LAMP) | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials. i have installed phpMyAdmin but when i try and acess it i get this error

phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.

I want to setup a FAI server for which I was looking for the best method of mirroring the Debian Lenny. I want to setup a local mirror with the best method available for mirroring. If it is ftpsync, please provide me some best ways of doing it. I tried ftpsync mirroring but that was not getting properly working due to insufficient I want this mirror to be accessible in my FAI setup so that I can start the installation on multiple machines and start the updates and package installation to be done from the same local mirror.
