Firefox and flash have just been automatically updated to 3.6.17-0.2.1 & 10.3.181.14-0.2.1. Flash no longer seems to work very well and right clicking on flash will cause firefox to freeze. These problems do not happen with Opera.
View 2 RepliesSo, I've done a fresh install of F13 on my laptop and the very first thing I chose to add was Adobe Flash (installed with help of Autoten). Flash plugin in Firefox seems to be working alright, but make a right-click on any Flash content on a web page - and browser will freeze.
I'm even puzzled about what can be done to diagnose the problem. Running Firefox from a terminal emulator doesn't give any useful feedback on this situation.
some input on what can be done to clear things up.
P.S. I'm running a 32 bit version OS.
Firefox 4 freeze in openSUSE-11.4? Mine freezes randomly, it seems, on opening links in new tabs. I don't think it's Flash as it happens on any web site, even without flash (e.g. like this forum). I've updated to the latest version from the Mozilla repo but it still freezes. The only option is to kill it and restart it. So I use Chromium at the moment. But I prefer Firefox.
PS I don't have any Firefox 4 problems in WinXP at work. And I think I haven't yet had a freeze on my Intel laptop or Atom netbook (maybe I haven't used them long enough), looks like it may be something to do with 64-bits (AMD)? But I may be wrong.
Unfortunately, I've encountered a disaster the likes of which I've never seen before:Yesterday, in slackware 13.1, while using firefox, the window would no longer move or resize, and I could no longer click on things in that window.While this happens, the icons in xfce4 panel no longer acknowledge that the mouse is rolling over them, so I can't launch terminal from a panel, etc.; however I am still able to right click on desktop and open terminal and other apps that way.Since it was high time to upgrade to 13.37, and since I was experiencing weirdness, I decided to do a clean install: I actually repartitioned my drive, and reformatted the partitions (all xfs, and after backing up my data, of course)...
I don't know if that's significant, or not. there seems to be some lines in /var/log/Xorg.0.log about my logitech mouse.way too complicated to write by hand.I will log out and back on... sometimes that frees up other windows. Then I'll add the Xorg.0.log.
I've been having trouble lately with firefox freezing. For awhile I couldn't figure out what was causing it as it seemed random. But I think I narrowed down the problem to the mplayer plugin. Whenever I go to a site that has streaming video, the mplayer plugin would start reading the stream, but then display "stopped". Now sometimes when it does this firefox would freeze, but sometimes it wouldn't freeze till I start mousing over my bookmark tabs, then it would freeze my entire desktop. I can move my mouse but not much else. I can do a ctrl-alt-backspace to reload the xserver. Has anyone else noticed this? Also, can some help me troubleshoot this. I've removed and then re-installed firefox and the myplayer plugin; deleted my .mozilla directory; changed profiles. Is there anything else I can do?

I just installed firefox and flash-plugin.The version of firefox is 3.0.10, package is firefox-3.0.10-1.el5.centos.The version of flash-plugin is 10.0.22.87, package is flash-plugin-10.0.22.87-1.el5.rf.But firefox crashes when there is flash in web page, unless disable flash plugin in firefox.

I've had this issue with Flash for a while where I can't click on anything. After I upgraded a friend's linux box and installed Compiz she started having the same issue and suggested I disable desktop effects.
After I disabled desktop effects sure enough, flash started working again.
I'm not exactly sure what's causing the problem. I'll try disabling specific options when I get time later and post anything I find. In the meantime anyone else have this issue?

But I can't get it to go back to working by using the solution provided. I'm using Lucid Lynix by the way.
I am not really sure where i should put this, in apps or in multimedia so i just threw it in here. I am running openSUSE 11.2 i568 with Firefox 3.6.10 and I cant get sound to work with flash videos such as videos on ..... and songs like on myspace.

Whenever im logged into my Ubutu Desktop at home remotely from work i cannot seem to launch Firefox by clicking on any of the shortcuts.Seems the only thing that lets me lauch it is by opening a command windown and typing "sudo firefox".
View 8 Replies View RelatedClicking on a web link in an application used to open Firefox in the foreground, on top of the calling application in previous versions of Ubuntu (i.e. whatever versions of applications shipped by default).
In Ubuntu 10.04 if I click on a link in an email message then it opens the page within Firefox 3.6.3, but leaves Firefox behind the calling application. I would prefer to have Firefox take the focus and load the web page on top of my email. I have tried the usual fixes (setting browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground and disabling the Ubuntu extensions), but I can not make Firefox take the focus. Funnily enough, most of the threads I see refer to preventing Firefox from opening on top.
Firefox 3.6.8 is freezing whenever I click a menu item. It locks up for about 25 seconds before continuing. It does this even in safe mode, or if all the addons and extentions are disabled. I have even tried deleting and creating a new profile. Chrome works fine. Also, on another login account, firefox is working fine!

View 6 Replies View Relatedsome windows fail to react to my mouse clicks (left and right). This has been starting to happen more and more often. However, one window usually stays working normally, while all others fail. Usually, it's the gnome-panel, but one time, this happened to Firefox. During this, I discovered that clicking a window above firefox, would go through the window, and Firefox would recieve it instead, as if the window wasn't there. Even stranger, firefox was not the active window, and all keyboard and mouse commands were received perfectly, however, the window titlebar wouldn't darken as usual. I can still move the mouse around, but when I keep it still for a minute, I see "View your Appointments and Tasks", pop-up, but it sticks to the screen afterward. A reboot fixes this problem, but only for a while. his also occurs when booting from the live Ubuntu 10.10 i386 Desktop Edition CD. I'm using a Logitech Mouse, but I don't believe this has to do with hardware, since this doesn't happen on Windows.

Just got done installing openSUSE 11.3 with the fantastic support the forum brings, but now I notice there is no sound coming from Firefox (v3.6.8) with Flash v10.1. Nor do I receive the new message sound for the Facebook chat. I do have sound at start up (the start up chimes) and I do have working sound in Amarok (with glorious mp3 support, YaST2). Is there a plug in that is needed, or is there an incorrect setting?

I love Ubuntu, but it makes a loud sort of death rattle when it starts up, disturbing other people. Also when I exit Firefox, if there is more than one page tab, it makes a loud clicking noise. How can I stop these things?

View 3 Replies View Relatedever since i updated to firefox 3.6.3 on my opensuse 11.0, it has been crashing instantly on loading videos and gmail.
i have done all of the obvious things. run in safe mode, uninstalled and reinstalled including deleting the entire profile, reinstalling the flash player and adobe reader plugins, disabling all extensions (in fact, i have no extensions installed at all now) - nothing works!
i have put a request in to the mozilla forums, but nobody has an answer.
i am able to get firefox to load the videos page only when in safe mode and with the shockwave flash plugin disabled. it still crashes instantly on gmail.
when i go into the yast installer to look for older firefox versions that i might downgrade to, the versions list is in such tiny type that it is unreadable. every other font is fine except that one versions list! it's driving me mad that the one thing i need to see in order to get a working firefox is invisible to me due to some obscure bug.
Every time after I resume from suspend, firefox freezes up to 7sec at "flashed" sites.That is very annoying. If I disable the adobe flash plugin, it is smooth without flash. If I restart my laptop, everything goes flawlessly. It did not if I restart the X service.This also affects the chromium on both the smooth scroll and the freezing at flashed sites. View 1 Replies View Relatedflash version 10.0 r45 in firefox plays video, graphics, and sound just fine. however, while i'm playing a video on videos, or listening to pandora, the sound could unexpectedly crash. when this happens, sound doesn't just stop playing. it keeps playing but loops the sound every second or so - it's kind of strange to describe; the sentence, "hello, how are you?" could sound like "he-he-he-he ar-ar you-you-you". has anyone experienced this? i say it happens 'unexpectedly' because i can't replicate the crash on demand, but it happens in every firefox session. it seems that it does not matter what i'm doing - i've tried crashing it by making a flash video full screen and exiting continuously etc. because sometimes it happens when i'm going to full screen or changing tabs.
however, most of the time it happens when i'm not even touching the computer - i'm not sure if some background process can cause flash's buffer to overflow, or whatever. other times, it doesn't even need me to play anything for it to crash the sound in flash - it could loop sound from the first time i tried playing it in flash in that ff session. even when i exit firefox or pause the sound it takes a few second for the loops to stop. however, when i restart firefox the sound is fine until it crashes again and i have to restart, again! i tried removing libflashsupport as i read in other threads that it causes sound issues - no luck there. i uninstalled, installed and all that jazz. tried strace - doesn't report any flash errors for some reason, or as far as i can understand.
i also installed the flash debugger for use with the firebug extension, flashbug addon in firefox, but i'm not getting anything there either - i think it can't locate the flash debugger, although it lists the right version. i haven't had this problem with chromium yet, but i mostly use it when flash sound in firefox crashed and i don't want to reload ff; i think they use the same 'libflashplayer.so'? also, just to clarify, sound from the mplayer plugin works fine, and when the sound crashes in flash it does not cause ff to crash and quit. firefox continues to run normally but when i play sound in flash it starts looping. i've had sound problems in the past and i'm thinking there is something i messed up in the packages i have installed. i uninstalled pulseaudio because it was the only way i could find to get my skype working. how would i know if there are conflicting elements?

it seems to me like there should be a conflict between all those using the same sound control? however, why would it just happen unexpectedly? also, is there a way that i could dissociate sound from firefox without having to reload a whole session with many tabs?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my 11.4 firefox and flash to get rid of an apparent flash problem. Before the packman online upgrade, the event pulldown on yahoo finance didn't work. It behaves the same after the upgrade. I noticed on this site, I couldn't click the cursor into the simple search window. So from openSuse, firefox is third party, adobe is fourth party and yahoo is fifth party. Who owns this problem? The rest of my system is KDE 4.6.0 on HW 686 - 32 bit.
