OpenSUSE :: Firefox Icon Not Matching Theme Icons?

Oct 3, 2010

how to change this icon to match the theme. Seems to be to only application so far that has not picked up the correct icon. The quick launch icon is correct, but not the task manager icon. It seems to be picking it up from some other location before using the one in the theme file.

Under root/usr/lib/firefox there are some default icons. Also under root/usr/share/pixmaps there are a couple icons for firefox. All these match the one pictured. The icon under root/usr/share/apps is the correct one for the theme. These are the only locations that I am aware of with exception of the theme file.

Would renaming the icons under lib/firefox and share/pixmaps force it to use the themed icon?

It seems that this firefox icon is a problem with any icon theme that I use.

Ubuntu :: Change Icon Theme But Keep Icons In The Taskbar?

I really like the new, MacOS-like icons in the taskbar. The problem is that if I change the icon theme (to something else than the themes present in ubuntu by default;e the Shiki-Wise theme) the nice icons in the taskbar are gone too. Is there a way of keeping those?

OpenSUSE :: Changing GTK And Icon Theme In Gnome3?

Apr 8, 2011

I'm slowly getting used to Gnome 3 and trying to give it a chance. After a few oddities (like it swallowing my Gnome Shell and Tilda invocations because I use Super in them) then I think I'm slowly getting used to it. There are still some things I miss from Compiz, but it has potential and I like some bits (the notifications and dialogs).I don't know what got upgraded, but my themes seemed to be working before yet today I've got the default Sonar rather than my darker Sonar theme with a fixed Chromium style. I've managed to change the titlebar theme, but I can't change the GTK theme or the icon theme.

Running "gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme" reports "Tango-green", but I still have the default icon theme and using Appearances only partially works.Running "gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme" reports "SonarLighter" (the menu bar is lighter to match the Uniq theme) but I'm definitely seeing Sonar.I've tried gnome-tweak-tool from someone's OBS, but various dependencies seem to be missing (first it bails with the wrong GI version, then I updated some other bits and tried again, but even after switching a dozen or more packages then it never started).

Ubuntu :: Inconsistency Of Icon Emblems When Using Custom Icon Theme?

Feb 16, 2011

I have recently installed Faenza icon theme and just began to notice the inconsistency of icon emblems being displayed by compiz.Attached image shows the emblems of Chromium, Nautilus and Comix are that of the default icons, while Empathy andCompizConfigSettingsManager displayed the custom icon correctly. The dock displays all apps' icons correctly though. The issue does not occur exclusively to Application Switcher (Alt+Tab), it also occurs with Scale (Super+W), Shift Switcher (Super+Tab).

Ubuntu :: Unity Launcher Icons - Changes Icon To Springboard Default Icon That New Launchers Use

May 1, 2011

I've installed Office 2007 under wine, and would like to add launchers for Word, Excel, etc to the Unity launcher bar.

So, I've created a launcher on the Desktop that will run Word with wine. I've changed the icon to the Word Icon and everything works great from the desktop. If I drag that launcher to the Unity bar, it adds it, but changes the icon to the springboard default icon that new launchers use. Please see attached picture.

As a side note, I am really starting to like Unity (puts on flamesuit), but it seems very easy to break the install of 11.04. I've had to reinstall 4 times now.

Ubuntu :: Change An Icon In Icon Theme?

Jul 24, 2010

I d/l an empty and full trash icon. I looked in the /home/username/.icons/themename folder and found the two trash icons that came with the theme (they were in ~/.icons/themename/scalable/places). Changed the names of the ones I d/l and replaced those current ones with them.how to do this? I would also like to change the Menu Bar icon back to the gnome foot.

Slackware :: Some Icons Not Obeying Its Theme / Fix Them?

Dec 8, 2010

I thought I'd try a dark gtk theme (slackware 13.1, xfce). But I find that some of my Faenza icons have updated to their dark counterpart as expected (ie light colored text in the panel clock, menus etc, but some haven't (icons within google chrome, clipman tray icon..).

Some I can replace directly, like changing wicd tray icons with ones from gnome-look or somewhere, but some I don't know how to fiddle with, like the chrome and clipman ones.

The same thing happens whichever dark gtk theme I use.

Why isn't the icon theme being universally followed? Any ideas?

Fedora :: Icons Missing In Fedora Icons Theme?

Nov 24, 2009

yesterday I upgraded my Fedora installation via preupgrade from 11 to 12.Now there are some icons missing! If I go to the 'System' menu in the panel, there are no icons at all.If then I select the 'Settings' submenu, all of its icons are visible.I figured out that the package redhat-menus and fedora-icon-theme make up the representation of this icons and reinstalled them. Then I additionally executed 'gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders-64 > /etc/gtk-2.0/x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf.loaders' (I read this somewhere in the forum).
But nothing happend so far?!

I made further efforts trying to find out the icon of the System Configuration Menu (Syst -> Administration). The file '/usr/share/desktop-directories/SystemConfig.directory' contains the icon that should be displayed for the System->Administration menu. This file contains the line: Icon=preferences-system Good so far.I thought that selecting the gnome icon theme would fix this problem, but this also didn't help! Now I'm at the end of my knowledge (or I don't want to rename single icons to match the names required)...

Ubuntu :: Theme Icons Change When Locale Is Changed?

May 3, 2010

I installed Ubuntu for the ability to easily change the system wide locale and language settings. However I've noticed a strange thing when logging in to my account with Japanese set as the language. Although I'm using the default "Ambiance" theme, the folder icons in Nautilus and some other styling seem to change to a different (much uglier) theme. For example on the top panel the network connection icon also reverts to an blue computer screen icon from the other theme, although other icons on the panel and the rest of the styling remains as the correct theme!

I'm now back in English locale, and my theme is normal again. In fact I don't even see the ugly other theme in the theme selector window. I haven't noticed this problem using other languages such as French and Russian. It's only a stylistic theme, but it's really ugly and really bugging me. what might be going wrong?EDIT***********************Ok I just logged back in again using the Japanese locale in order to post a screencap, and of course the problem has vanished now! I already logged in and out a number of times earlier to see if it would solve the problem and it didn't

OpenSUSE :: Pathetic Application - Choqok - Click Authenticate With Twitter Button - Firefox Icon Pops Up And Bounces Around

Jun 21, 2011

I got sick to DEATH of Adobe AIR and TweetDeck screwing up constantly, and then Adobe announces there will be no more Adobe AIR for Linux. Fine, screw 'em, I'll switch to something else. So I hunt around for the options, most of which suck. Then I discover Choqok is already installed on my machine (11.4). Except the POS doesn't work.

To use it, I have to authenticate with my Twitter account. So I click Add, select Twitter, it pops up the dialog. I leave the alias as Twitter, click the authenticate with Twitter button. The Firefox icon pops up and bounces around - but Firefox is already running. So nothing happens! No Twitter access, no page loaded, nothing. I shut down Firefox, try it again. Same deal. As usual, no one bothered to test this POS software before releasing it. how to get this **** to authenticate to Twitter in the absence of ANY useful documentation for this junk?

Debian :: Blueman-applet Not Using Current Icon Theme

Jul 16, 2015

I have the Faenza Icon Theme installed, but it seems blueman-applet could care less. The applet's icon does change to use the Bluetooth application icon, but when it is active or disabled, it uses the icons in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/24/status/.

Part of the problem may be that Faenza has the status icon named bluetooth-active/bluetooth-disabled instead of blueman-active/blueman disabled. However, even if I rename these in /usr/share/icons/Faenza/24/status/, nothing changes. If I copy the icons into the first location mentioned and rename them, it does work. I don't have a problem doing this, but if I ever change themes, I'll have to do it again. Anyway I can make it use the icon theme?

Fedora :: Update To F14 Breaks Gnome Icon Theme / Why Is So?

Nov 3, 2010

After I had upgraded the system to Fedora 14, the icons for pretty much everything except for programs and plain text files in gnome theme (and every other theme that shares them) became inaccessible - they are replaced by a standard icon that appears when no other is found. Other themes, that share no icon with gnome (tango, gnome-colors, etc.), work correctly. I'm using Xfce desktop.

I've deleted icon-theme.cache, but it did nothing.

Any suggestions, what may be causing this?
