OpenSUSE :: Software Manager Stalls On Downloading Packman Repo?
Sep 25, 2010
I am having a problem downloading the packman.inode.at/suse11.3/repodata/repomd.xml. I get an error: failed to establish connection, connection timed out. I cannot get any updates at all.
well i did a fresh install of opensuse 11.2 64 bit i was trying to install the nvidia repo and packman repo.usually i get this by adding them form community repo's from repo management.but today i am unable to add them. i did not get those repos in the list there.whats might be the problem??
I've just done a clean install of OS 11.2 x86_64, KDE 4.3.1, and got the following message from RPM while installing multimedia support files from Packman using zypper on the command line:
Code: warning: /var/cache/zypp/packages/ftp.skynet.be-suse/noarch/rpmkey-packman-0.3.8-1.pm.1.1.noarch.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 9a795806 Similar messages were coming up while installing other packages through Yast, and I'm wondering what the issue is. All of the messages were about the "key ID" at the end of the example line. (Everything is working so I'm not sure if this is a problem or not.)
I'd like to make a local repo of Packman openSUSE 11.2 x86_64 repo. Should I download all of the following folders? And what will be an approximate size of this download?
Tried about every repo, listed on Additional package repositories - openSUSE but all give the same permission denied problem on some repom.xml and fail to add the repo.I want to install lame, on suse 11.0.
Okay I finally decided to install openSUSE and I have a few questions. First and biggest, how do I add the packman repository as one repo? and will doing so add tumbleweed?
I'm new to opensuse, just installed 11.2 and added the packman repository to the software repositories list, and now when i open the yast software manager there are about a dozen selected packages to install, mostly related to multimedia like ffmpeg ,faac, faad and python-beanutils. I didn't want that, why does it happen? and how can i disable it?
Trying to clean up my system having removed some factory repos so now I have the standard 4, update, oss, non-oss & packman. When updating and switchine to packman I get many Wrong Digest errors and when downloading many NO KEY messages.
What is the significance of the no key message. How can I renew keys from repo sites and what should I do about the Wrong Digest warnings?
With zypper refresh I get this Repository 'openSUSE-11.4-Debug' is up to date. Repository 'openSUSE-11.4-Non-Oss' is up to date. Repository 'openSUSE-11.4-Oss' is up to date. Repository 'openSUSE-11.4-Update' is up to date. Retrieving repository 'libdvdcss' metadata [error] Repository 'libdvdcss' is invalid. Download (curl) error for 'http://opensuse-guide.org/repo/11.4/content': Error code: Connection failed Error message: Couldn't resolve host 'opensuse-guide.org' Retrieving repository 'packman' metadata [error] Repository 'packman' is invalid. Download (curl) error for 'http://packman.inode.at/suse/openSUSE_11.4/content': Error code: Connection failed Error message: Couldn't resolve host 'packman.inode.at'
I was able to add other repos and install applications and upgrades (new install Gnome 11.4 64 bit on friends laptop), and Packman and Video lan are the only repos I can't refresh, any ideas?
This has been happening for about a week. When I run the updater applet (or when it runs on its own), I get the error: PackageKit Error repo-not-available: File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium [URL]..
been noticing this error when tryiing to iinstall any package from the packman repo: (Running suse 11.3_x64)"Header V3 DSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 9a795806: NOKEY" (of course heach ID is different according to each lib)my /repos.d/ look like this:
linux-l0y2:/etc/zypp/repos.d # ls -l total 32 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 187 Sep 25 19:28 Updates for openSUSE 11.3 11.3-1.82.repo
I dont have a internet connection and I want to install VLC. I want to create a local repo for a vlc by downloading all the required packages. I tried to do by downloading all the packages from from VLC repo and create a local repo but failed. Its say this dependency failed and that dependency failed. i tried to manually install each and every dependency but still the problem exists.
I have used Debian on this computer for over a year now. A little while back update manager stopped working. It now prompts me to update a varying number of packages (85-97), but when I try and run it I get this message:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
I'm not sure where to report this. I'm the only user of this computer. I tried running dpkg as directed, but that results in the following:
shop-amd-rebuild:/home/steve# dpkg --configure -a Setting up linux-image-2.6.26-2-amd64 (2.6.26-26lenny1) ... Running depmod. Running mkinitramfs-kpkg.
To the point:F15 2.6.40.3-0.f15.i686.PAE (from grub) running on a Lattitude D620Encrypted lvmThe last things I did before restarting, was to install ext2fuse, VMWare Player and then yum update.I can mount (on another F14 machine) both the boot partition and the LVM , fsck -f does not find anything on /boot or /.Escaping the plymouth screen during boot, I see:
YaST-->Software-->Online Update Getting error: There was an error in the repository initialization. 'repo-non-oss': Failed to cache repo (139). History: - repo2solv.sh "/var/cache/zypp/raw/repo-non-oss" > "/var/cache/zypp/solv/repo-non-oss/solv"

If I disable the repo-non-oss repository the update works fine. The URL I have for the repo-non-oss repository is:
Index of /distribution/11.0/repo/non-oss
This has been going on for over a week. Do I need to use a different URL for the non-oss repository? I live in New York, United States.
I have updated to 11.4 via changing repos and zypper distribution updating. I can't find audacious plugins and vlc in 11.4 repos. Is it ok if I use 11.3 packman repo?
My update manager is not downloading anything. However when I click the view files individually I notice "hit" and "failed" at the start of each download.
I ran this code: apt-get update
output: E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (13: Permission denied) E: Unable to lock the list directory
The systems says that it cannot automatically update, so I have to do an Auotomatically update. Error details shows:
Code:
PackageKit Error repo-not-available: Failed to download /repodata/repomd.xml from [URL] I press "Start Yast and install updated manually" buttton Enter my root password
And a Window appears displaying:
Code:
ERROR Download Failed: Failed to download /repodata/repomd.xml from http://packman.iu-bremen.de/suse/11.2. History - [AbstractCommand cc:224] URI=http://packman.iu-bremen/suse/11.2/repodata/repomd.xml
I'm having a problem with the Packman repository lately. First, I added the Packman repo using a Germany mirror link. Everything worked fine until I decided to switch the repository URL to the standard Packman one [URL] instead of a mirror. Then I started getting an error while refreshing repositories:
Code:
Error refreshing service Packman Repository (http://packman.inode.at/suse/11.3/packman.repo): Parse error: repoindex.xml[1] Document is empty
Quite frustratingly, for some reason zypper has made the Packman repo invisible and I can't see it anywhere (not in Yast Software Repositories or in the /etc/zypp/repos.d folder. Yet, it still tries to use that repository when refreshing, and obviously gives me an error in the process. how to completely remove all traces of this Packman repo from my system so I can start anew? (aside from an OS reinstall?)
I have these supposed missing 64 bit libs for everything on my main computer. I keep getting the following type messages whilst trying to get things working on a fresh 11.3 install on my test box. All these 64 bit things were installed on it before I wiped it and did a fresh install. I got it when I installed the codecs for gstreamer/kaffeine as well but went ahead and installed. Where did the 64 bit stuff go? I even changed packman mirrors.
this is in part a *****. The Yast2 firewall interface is inferior. Firestarter and Guarddog are much better - but they are not in the packman list of stuff you can install because you like it better. How many of you care to offer an opinion as to why these other firewall apps are NOT packaged for openSUSE installation?
I wasn't paying proper attention when adding a repo to yast and need to find the file were the info is saved to delete this. The problem is that whenever i use yast it comes up with an error code saying that it can't find the data for the 'problem' repo. Have tried zypper rm but that comes up with a similar error advising that the data is in a format that was not expected. My thinking is to track the file were the yast repo source details are saved, delete this and then just add the repos that i use back.
I know the packman people don't pay attention to these forums. How do you request they update to Deluge 1.3.0 which is the current stable version for 11.3? Where do you go that they pay attention to?
I don't know how to package this myself so really don't need to be told how to do it.
It seems that 11.1 is not supported anymore. Can you confirm that ?I know, i need time to test a new system to replace it.Meanwhile, i try to update the packman packages and it cannot. It says :error: /var/cache/zypp/packages/Packman/.../somethin.rpm : Header V4 RSA/SHA1 signature: BAD, key ID 1abd1afb
