OpenSUSE Network :: Can't Connect To Shared Drives

Jul 24, 2011

I just upgraded from SuSE 11.3 to 11.4. For some reason, I can no longer access my shared drive from any other home computer. I can get out to the internet. I can ping other PCs on the network. Other PCs can ping me. My router sees all computers, and has assigned IP addresses dynamically. I have a shared folder, exported as an NFS mount point, that used to work! I've tried setting up Samba shares. Nothing! I disabled the local firewall, as my router already has a firewall running. Nothing! Nothing I've tried seems to work. I can not see that NFS mount point from any of my windows PCs. (I only have the one Linux server running, so I can't say whether another Linux box would see it or not!)

General :: Connect To A Wireless Network Shared By A Mac?

Mar 9, 2011

Mac OS X has built-in support for internet connection sharing through the settings as in the following screenshot:

This works very well with other Macs, but I'm having problems connecting to such a network using Linux. I tried all combinations of configuration, double- and triple-check the WEP password but could never get an IP address. In a last effort I also tried without encryption, but still couldn't get my Linux box connect to the network.

I don't know if Windows has the same problem. Now I'm suspecting two things. Either I misconfigured something in my Linux installation, or OS X is doing something smart and makes it difficult for non-Apple devices to use the network (I also tested with an iPhone, it connects very well, unsurprisingly). Now what is wrong? What do I have to do?

Fedora :: Connect To Another Computer In Network Via Qpid-config?

Jun 22, 2010

I'm trying to connect to another computer in my network via qpid-config(which is running qpid server). Here is where I follow the instructions [URL].. I can connect to qpid server(which is running on the network) via JMX Management Console which is gui version of what I'm to accomplish from console/unix shell. I can connect and read messages from queue(s) from this server so it means there is no problem with network or whatever. I'm running Fedora Core 13, here is the following combinations I've tried so far with qpid-config so I can run qpid-tool and some other commands :

Code:
qpid-config -a localhost, 192.168.1.2:8999, guest/guest@qpid-server
qpid-config -a guest/guest@qpid-server 192.168.1.2:8999
qpid-config -a qpid-server, 192.168.1.2:8999, qpid-server:8999, guest/guest@qpid-server
qpid-server is added to /etc/hosts as hostname for 192.168.1.2

Had anyone anything similar to this maybe I'm missreading the instructions(although they are pretty straight forward), I've spend so much time on this and just stuck now.

OpenSUSE Network :: [smb] Lost Access To Shared Directory?

Mar 24, 2010

Unfortunately I haven't been able to figure out yet how to share specific directories only, so I set up my Samba server to share users' home directories (which is not a security issue here since the only possible client is my other machine). My user's home directory contains a symlinked directory on another hard drive partition, which I had to explicitly share to be able to access it from the other machine. This setup has been working for months now, but for a reason that escapes me at the moment it stopped working today, presumably after samba got updated from 3.4.2-1.1.3.1 to 3.4.3-3.2.1.

The error message on the client (Windows XP/SP3) for this one above mentioned directory, and for this directory alone, is "Access denied"; I can access all other directories fine.

Software :: Cannot Open Shared Object File - Error While Loading Shared Libraries

Mar 2, 2010

I have an application consisting of different processes and all these processes are linked to shared libraries. I start the application (spawn all the different processes) as say user1. Now with the application up, if I run a process p1, the process gets activated and works. However, if I start the same process p1 as a different user, say user2, which is completely different from user1 the process complains of

"error while loading shared libraries:...."

I set LD_RUN_PATH both in compile and runtime environment. LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set correctly in both places.

All the above works if I set the absolute path of the required shared libraries in /etc/ld.so.conf file and rebuild the /etc/ld.so.cache

But all that happens is this:

Code:

Nor ls work either so I'm stuck and thinking about a reinstall.

I don't understand how this system could be so messed up after a failed update.. Used to trust SuSE, not sure anymore after this incident..

Slackware :: Ark: Error While Loading Shared Libraries: Liblzma.so.0: Cannot Open Shared Object File

Jan 26, 2011

After finally getting my wireless/graphics drivers working yesterday (thanks to this forum ) I startx to realize that not a single KDE/Qt application will launch, along with Firefox, or Chrome/Chromium. (I did a full install from the DVD, not deselecting anything, and when I upgraded to -current, I also did the same.)

Ark said:

Quote:

ark: error while loading shared libraries: liblzma.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

but I managed to fix that one by commenting out 'aaa_elflibs' in /etc/slackpkg/blacklist (on a recommendation from #slackware), and running slackpkg upgrade-all again, but that's the only one (afaik) that was fixed. Ark still doesn't work, but it doesn't show that error anymore. When I run it, a box pops up that says "Unable to find Ark's KPart component, please check your installation."

Kate still says:

Quote:

kate: error while loading shared libraries: libkemoticons.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Now, konsole, firefox, and Chromium's errors are a little different.

Konsole:

Quote:

konsole: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libphonon.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN9QMetaType15registerTypedefEPKci

Firefox and Chrome basically say the same thing

Quote:

/usr/lib/firefox-3.6.13/firefox-bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/skypebuttons.so: undefined symbol: _ZN9QListData11detach_growEPii

again, I am completely baffled here, as I had kate, konsole and ark running before I upgraded to -current.
