OpenSUSE Network :: Forums Login Needs Java Script Enabled?
Apr 29, 2011I just noticed that I can no longer login to the forums unless Java scripts are enabled in my browser (Opera). Is this a new feature?
View 6 RepliesI just noticed that I can no longer login to the forums unless Java scripts are enabled in my browser (Opera). Is this a new feature?
View 6 RepliesWhen I tried to log in this morning I couldn't until I enabled Java scripts in my Opera browser. This must be something "new and improved". Could someone confirm this? I would prefer "old and lousy" rather than open up my computer to the world at large.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed 11.4 x86_64. Using FF beta 4, I can get to the Main Page - openSUSE and log in there, but when going to the forums, it doesn't recongnize my login and I cannot log in through the link.
I wonder why FF4 Beta is the default install for 11.4.
I installed Libreoffice from the openbuild service and I observed the following when using Librecalc:
1. Lag time when opening a file.
2. Decreased performance when opening more than one file.
3. Windows freezing when minimizing or maximizing them, or moving them.
4. Windows freezing when using the tiling feature and dragging the cursor to one of the screen edges.
I disabled java and everything works perfectly. Is this the proper course of action? From what I read, I really only need java for the database program.
I am experiencing this behavior on my work computer which is running Opensuse 11.3 KDE 4.6 on a windows network.
I was setting up a new 11.4 system and disabled ip6 as we don't use it. After that I couldn't get X11 forwarding working. After searching around for a while, I found this topic [URL] ssh-x11-forwarding.html which at the end mentions enabling ip6. Magically, after doing that and rebooting I can now do X11 forwarding again. Just seems strange that IP6 is needed for X11 forwarding.

I have Mozilla Firefox 3.6.16, Copyright (c) 1998 - 2011 mozilla.org,java version "1.5.0_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode)
And I did ln -s /usr/lib/../libjavaplugin_oji.so to my firefox plugins directory but I still have no java. There is also no java enable in the preferences/advanced in firefox. I also did about: config and switched to libjavaplugin_oji.so.Still no dice.I noticed that mozilla works, I launched PDM successfuly, but I want to use firefox. As for the java version, it's the only version Cisco's PIX PDM works. That's why i have this version of java.
I've got problems uploading files to a remote FTP server using passive mode with enabled SuSeFirewall2 (Using 11.2)
I've disabled Firewall and everything went ok. Why firewall disables or terminates OUTGOING connections to a remote FTP?
What I have is Xubuntu running as a VM with VirtualBox on my Windows 7 Media Center that is always on. I am trying to be able to remotely access an X display on that box to do network auditing/ various linux stuff from the various places I go. I would like it to be as simple as possible and leave no trace on the remote computer, so what I would like is to use a java-enabled browser to connect to an xvfb on xubuntu with SSL encryption. I almost got it working using cherokee/x11vnc/desktop.cgi but it only works once or twice and I get network errors even on localhost. I would rather just not have X running all the time on the VM and just have an xvfb display waiting/created when I log in remotely from a browser.

after the upgrade to firefox 3.5.9 yesterday, video from my internet camera doesn't appear. Firefox loads the web page from the camera, but the box in the web page containing the video stream doesn't show up.my system is opensuse 11.1, 64-bit. I temporarily downgraded to firefox 3.0.18 and the video worked as usual. By shutting off plugins, I found it was the IcedTea Java web browser plugin 1.6.2 that was driving the video. so I upgraded back to firefox 3.5.9, started looking for an upgraded version of the Java plugin, but the software manager shows that the latest is java-1_6_0-openjdk-plugin (1.6.2_b16-0.1.1 x86_64) and that it is already installed.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm new to networks and servers, been using Linux on the desktop for a while now but always relied on the company's IT guy for setting up everyting LAN-based.
Now I want to build up my home LAN, and want to do it with Linux. I've managed to set up LAMP and file share servers.
What I am looking for is information on what I need, and how to set up a server for the following tasks:Centralized Username and Password, that when the user logs into any one of the desktops in the LAN, it uses this for authentication
Something that allows this authentication to be utilized in other servers (file access, web access, router logging, etc.). Something to make it easier for continuing permissions from one service to another. e.g. I have IPCop filtering content, and it has provisions for tracking who is making which request if there is authentication going on. (optionally) to run a script for mounting Samba shares or mapped network drives so from one system to the next. For example, in whatever box somebody logs in, it mounts a server share ("smb://Myserver/users/<username>") to a local folder ("my_user_share").
So;user "fred" ="smb://Myserver/users/fred" and user "wilma" = "smb://Myserver/users/wilma" but both would find their respective one mounted under "~/my_user_share". This would be irrespective of which box they are loggin in with. If the server share location changes (new server/servername), I change it on the server so the next time they log in it points to the right place.
I guess it is similar to Window's Active Directory, though I'm not sure what it's called, how to configure it and what it is and is not capable of doing.
I have a problem and even not getting anywhere. I enabled mod_cache and furnished. Unfortunately, he writes the cache is not in the folder where it should write down him. Besides, I've read that, that caching is only possible with html pages with graphics or data and not with PHP.

Girlfriend with a problem: she needs to sign up at the unemployment office in Spain. She is here in China. But for reasons unknown, she can't access the bit which she needs to. It says: 'can't set the browser' Java is enabled and so on, we read the instructions. On her windoze computer, she has a digital certificate. I copied it onto my mem-stick. When I try to copy it from my mem-stick to my Linux machine, I can't. Not even as root! The folder is called 'certificado digital' and contains two folders:
Trash.(tilde)1 and VM_Ware_Workstation They both have some kind of encrypted stuff inside. Can this certificate be installed on my machine?? Trash has 5 things, VM_Ware_Workstation has 3 things. The guy who set this up for her told her she must use Mozilla. Is a certificate only valid with a particular browser?
I'm trying to find a workaround for the keyring requirement when auto-login is enabled. Here's my setup:I'm primarily using my Linux computer as a server, for Git, FUPPES, OpenVPN, etc. Because of this, I do everything remotely from another computer (Windows 7). Most tasks I need to do I perform through SSH, but sometimes I use VNC to see the desktop, since some things are just easier with a GUI.My problem is this: I have auto-login enabled, because of how I use the device. However, when it first boots up, I'm unable to connect with VNC unless I physically go to the computer and type my password into the keyring pop-upDoes anyone know of a way around this? Is there a way for me to input my password into the keyring through SSH, by invoking libpam-gnome-keyring somehow? I've tried to locate this application
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've tried Ubuntu, Arch, and most recently Fedora but the SUSE GNOME environment blows everything else away!
The only problem (so far) is that Network Manager requires you to enter your password every time you login to unlock the password keyring. I want to disable this.
I think some distros disable the prompt by using the login password to unlock the keyring, but I use auto-login (if that makes a difference).
Hello guys, I've just ran 'apt-get dselect-upgrade' to upgrade some packages, there're few packages I want to keep.
However it changed a lot my customized environment like the login screen and the wallpapers.
I really like the previous login screen but how can I change it back?
The option 'Application > Administration > Login screen' is not enabled.

What am I doing wrong? I'm pretty sure I'm able to type in my password correctly. Also, how do I prevent people from logging in as root? That sounds dangerous.
