Sometimes, after update, it looks like in repo are old packages but version numbers are higher than previous. It looks like there are two 'packagers' and one of them makes packages from older builds.Currently it is that old build.Look at system load plasmoid:

View 1 Replies View RelatedOnline Updated prompted me today to import a new key that was created today for the KDE4 Community repository (SUSE 11.2). How can I verify the key's signature? How can I make sure that the repository has not been hacked and the key I am going to import is the correct key. I was expecting a note somewhere on the openSUSE website about the new key or a list of currently valid keys, where I can compare the signatures. But I could not find such a list or so.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just learned that warsow 0.6 is out, and went to see if it was available in the ubuntu software center yet, as opposed to going and downloading and installing it manually from the warsow website. The ubuntu repo's still have version 0.5, and at the bottom of the page it says:
"Updates: Canonical does not provide updates for Warsow. Some updates may be provided by the Ubuntu community."
So if I wanted to 'update' this item in the repo's for the better of the community what would that entail?
Will KDE4.4 eventually move into the 11.2 updates or do I have to add the KDE Factory repo to get this update?

If I disable the repo-non-oss repository the update works fine. The URL I have for the repo-non-oss repository is:

This has been going on for over a week. Do I need to use a different URL for the non-oss repository? I live in New York, United States.
why there is no Community Repository option on YaST (Software Repositories)? I am trying to install XBMC (Packman). Can i use local as an alternative?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI wasn't paying proper attention when adding a repo to yast and need to find the file were the info is saved to delete this. The problem is that whenever i use yast it comes up with an error code saying that it can't find the data for the 'problem' repo. Have tried zypper rm but that comes up with a similar error advising that the data is in a format that was not expected. My thinking is to track the file were the yast repo source details are saved, delete this and then just add the repos that i use back.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to 11.2 I'm trying to install required codecs for restricted formats and following the advice that is given, and starting at "Step 1", making sure that I have at least the OSS, non-OSS etc. repos.
For some reason, when I try to add community repositories through yast, I get a Warning pop-up, stating "Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined".
Am I doing something wrong? If tried about 20 times...and so far no luck.
I've been thinking of going into opensuse for a long time and now with KDE 4.4 is finally out - I'm going to do it. The installation shouldn't be a problem but I wonder how I can upgrade to kde 4.4, since opensuse 11.2 will have 4.3 by default? I saw in the documentation to add these repos:

I consider myself a linux noob. The thing about this is, I have played around with various distros of linux over many years. Eventually I get frustrated at how ridiculous something as simple as text editing can be. I'm having a problem starting mysql. I have already ran the install script afer downloading mysql community server from yast.
what I need to do to start the server. I tried to issue rcmysql start, but it says "The absolute path to 'rcmysql' is 'usr/sbin/rcmysql' so running it may require superuser privileges. So i say SUDO rcmysql, enter password and again same message.
Is the program 'unhide' is available in any of the community repositories, so I could add and then install via yast?I tried installing the rpm source package but it just hangs at 'starting' and never installs.

Now, with gdm login gives just wallpaper & no desktop. If I change to xdm as window manager I can login OK. The installed version of gdm is gdm-2.28.2-1.3.i586.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI work behind an ISA proxy. I have to authenticat with domainuser. When defining proxy settings with yast, I cannot put "domainuser" in the URL, so I add it in text mode in /etc/sysconfig/proxy for all protocols. Example: [URL] Then I have to logout/login in order yast to work.
BUT:
- I cannot add communauty repositories.
- zypper fails
In order to make zypper and adding repositories to work, I have to suppress one of the two back-slash like:

I did zypper dup to move from 11.3 to 11.4. Almost everything works fine. But when I try to add community repositories I get the 11.3 repositories, not the 11.4 repositories. So there must be a .conf or .rc file somewhere telling yast that we're on 11.3 when in fact we are on 11.4. How/where can I change that? And while we're at it, how do I load a Factory repository? They do not appear in the list of Community" repositories.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHaving assorted problems accessing v11.3 update repositories. The issue appears to be either with IPv6 or my ancient 2Wire 1000SW router.
Last week, I replaced Ubuntu with openSUSE on this Dell laptop. When I couldn't access repositories initially, I turned off IPv6 in YaST, with no luck. Turning off IPv6 in Firefox did allow me to see opensuse.org and other otherwise unavailable sites.
I edited my primary/default repo list in YaST with IP addresses replacing DNS names with great success -- except for the non-OSS repo, which YaST couldn't find. Anyway, I had a successful update!
Now adding repos to the default set is the problem. When going to Add > Community Repositories, I get the "Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined" message. Trying to add Packman.unixheads.com either with named URL or with IP address doesn't work either (it was curious that when using the IP address, YaST still says it can't find Packman.unixheads.com).
When I read that Packman was converting all its servers to IPv6, just for grins I went back to YaST and Enabled IPv6 again. After a reboot, I tried adding Packman again. No luck, but suddenly editing the default openSUSE non-oss repo and entering the IP address WORKED!
One more data point: I tried using a few 1-click installations from the collection at opensuse-community.org. Most failed, but for some reason, I could add the NVIDIA repository!
While I think the simple solution is probably replacing the router I've had since 2004, I'd like to avoid that particular expense right now. I'll note that I never had a problem accessing (K)Ubuntu repositories.
I'm wondering if there's a zypper or YaST config file I can edit that might allow access to the Community Repo list (though the Packman experience is somewhat discouraging in that regard). Is there something weird going on with MirrorBrain too? Figuring out how to handle IPv6 might be relevant here too.

I seldom use my Labtec webcam but used to add the community repository and add gspca driver to make it work.I saw today that this repo only now have libv4l in it , is this enough to replace gspca driver? View 5 Replies View Relatedi'm attempting to know and understand fedora more and i will spend probably the next month pouring through all the forums and documents to answer more of my own questions. but there's quite a bit here, so i'd thought i'd ask some noob questions to get me started a little.
ive installed fedora 14 64bit and chosen only kde as the desktop. i selected an extra 2 repos besides the default, fedora 14 -x86_64 and fedora 14-x86_64 -updates. i believe this kernel is installed: 2.6.35.11-83
1. i can only see the 2 extra repo's as being "checked" in kpackagekit, shouldn't i see the default repo also ?
2. i dont have an applet in the system tray indicating the system is up to date, does fedora have this by default ? also after a clean install i ran yum check-update and yum update but the message sayes: "no packages marked for update". i'm not sure if the system is auto-updated during install or not, but with other distros iv tried there is always atleast a few updates needing to be done after install.
3. is kpackagekit the fedora gui package manager ? i dont see any others.
4. i want to upgrade to nvidia drivers, but i think i am missing a non-free repo or something. when i enter: yum install kmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686 xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.x86_64 i get messages stating "no package" i get the same message with yum install nvidia-settings.i also tried this: LANG=C yum --enablerepo=rpmfusion-nonfree info akmod-nvidia but it sayes repo not found.
I'm experiencing a wierd bug. Been having it for some time now. I haven't posted about it before since its only been annoying, but not really setting me back. And I have trouble defining and explaining the bug. Today it crossed the line into actual annoyance.
The bug occurs when I'm writing, using the keyboard on my laptop. Both when I write in browsers, like when writing this post, and when I write in openoffice. So its not limited to one program. In webbrowsers what happens is that all of a sudden the browser loads the previous page in the tab. Like I told it to go one step back. In OpenOffice something similar happens. The curser jumps up in the document.
I used to have this bug when touchpad-tapping was enabled. I have a habit of drumming my thumbs on the touchpad when typing. Therefore I've disabled tapping on the touchpad. The bug is reocurring, however I have not found a way to reproduce it. It might be a key combination I accidentally hit when typing away, but I'm not sure.
I searched every which way I could to find this out, but to no avail. Can anyone address this query?

This repo has also gone missing from wiki pages and from list of community repos in YAST. Seems a bit suspicious as though something has been changed again.Is GRAMPS now in a different repo or is it no longer supported in openSUSE? Is Education repo defunct?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been experiencing a strange problem with Plasma locking up. Running system monitor it shows the KDE4 process using 20% CPU time, and Plasma around 10-15%. This seems way too much since on my six year old Laptop the cpu load of both processes is barely noticeable. My Laptop is an old single core 3000+ AMD Athlon 64, while my Desktop has a Quad core Xeon 2.33Ghz chip, so the fact that the KDE4/Plasma system load is many times higher than on the Laptop, indicates something is wrong.
I'm not sure what else to look for troubleshooting wise, any suggestions? *Actually, thinking about it, the KDE4 process is timing out one CPU core, which indicates to me something is really not right.
I am hitting a wall here - with the new 4.4 installed and working well, the one thing that is killing me is not being able to read the active taskbar item or the plasma peanut menu (see screenshot. You can see that the firefox and gimp are "active" and too dark to read, while kwrite is inactive and readable.They are BOTH too dark, and I cannot seem to find the option that controls those color elements.
