OpenSUSE Install :: Unable To Install HAE Or DRBD On SLES11sp1?

May 31, 2011

I am trying to setup HA for mySQL on SLES11sp1 with DRBD and heartbeat. I found the HAE of SLES seems has DRBD and SLES10 also have a older version. But after I installed SLES11 and also one SLES11sp1,both don't have DRBD. I downloaded a DRBD RPM for opensuse,it gave me glic error "need glic.so.64 bit",etc. When I tried to install those GLBIC stuff ,also errors for dependencies again. I tried to use the source

Programming :: Core Dump Issues. Program Crashes But Does Not Generate Core Dump File?

Oct 7, 2009

I want to generate core dump files from my program when it crashes. Its a pretty big process and has about 10-11 threads in it.I have followed the documentation to enable core dump by setting ulimit to unlimited etc. I quickly tried "A demo program creating a core dump" from the following webpage, which succeeds in Segfault and dumping a core file in the directory that I configured. However, I tried running my original program and caused it to crash. I did this by making calls to kill(), raise() or the same null pointer access as shown in the webpage above. In each case, my program crashed but did not generate a core dump file. Am I missing something? My program is in C++ and my environment is Redhat 9.0 (kernel 2.4.20)

Going through the "Why do I NOT get a core dump?" section on the same webpage as above, I can see two potential problems. One - there are issues with the suid/sgid (bullet # 6). I am not able to change any settings with suid because my system does not contain either /proc/sys/fs/suid_dumpable or /proc/sys/kernel/suid_dumpableTwo, my program has threads in it and the bullet # 8 is the problem.

OpenSUSE :: Zypper Won't Die / Dump Process Out Of Memory Without Requiring It To Respond To Signal?

Feb 4, 2010

This is opensuse 11.2.

Somehow zypper is running at 100% cpu and won't die with command line kill, the system monitor kill, terminate or anything. I set it's priority to the lowest it will go, tried to stop it then kill it, nothing works as it simply is not responding to anything and it has been running now for 47 hours.

Is there a way to simply dump a process out of memory without requiring it to respond to a signal? because signals are doing nothing.

Networking :: The Same Captured Frame Differs On Client And Server?

Oct 18, 2010

I am capturing the same traffic both on client and server. Using Microsoft Network Monitor on client and tcpdump on Linux server.

And when comparing the content of one specific frame captured on two machines, I see it different!

Precisely:

I have SIP communicator on client and opensips on server. Client is doing a REGISTER request to the server. This request contains "Contact:" header, which should contain an IP address of the machine.

When capturend on client, this header contains local private IP address of a machine with SIP communicator (which is 192.168.***). But when captured on server, this header contains the outer address of my provider's router.

I have 2 possible explanations:

1) Some unknown agent acting between my client and server

2) opensips itself is acting at a so low level, that the result of it's frame manipulation is visible by tcpdump.

I am interested if the second option is possible? opensips is a proxy, so does proxy able to manipulate frames directly in the medium?

If so, the is it possible to run tcpdump at a lower level, so that it see packets before opensips processing?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Sound From External USB Soundcard (Novation X-Station 25) Not Being Captured Properly?

Aug 4, 2011

I have an X-Station 25 synth, which has worked fine in the past on Ubuntu. Recently made a fresh install on Xubuntu, and for whatever reason, I'm getting no sound coming out when I just select USB audio. If I go into Sound Preferences, I can see the device. I can even select it for sound input. Hell, if I press some keys on the keyboard, I can see some of the squares on the input level go green.Evidently, there IS sound coming in via the USB connection, and Audacity is capable of recording it.

However, the only way of hearing it is by putting headphones directly into the unit and listening to the monitor output signal. The audio coming in, as detected, is not being played from my laptop speakers/headphones.Am I just missing something here, and that's MEANT to be the only way to hear the audio out?In alsamixer, there are no controls for the Xstation, and nothing seems to be muted. I've upgraded the firmware to the most recent version as well.

Software :: Get A Simple Hex Dump In Gdb

Apr 30, 2010

While using gdb to debug a C++ program. What I'd like is to be able to enter an address (or an expression yielding an address), and a size, and have it simply do a hex dump. Or maybe even like:

aaaaaaaa 7473839298 29873479898734 this du mp is fa
aaaaaaab 8298...... .............. ke

(I just made up the hex digits above, and didn't even count columns. But you get the idea)

I'm actually using DDD, so a GUI solution is also acceptable.

Fedora :: 11 System Freeze With Dd Dump

Jul 17, 2009

i've got a non-typical problem here. i've got kvm-ed freebsd (its not so important here) stored on a block device - /dev/sdb8. i wanted to install fedora rawhide there but first i thought it's a good idea to do some backup. so here we go dd if=/dev/sdb8 of=freebsd.img bs=4k

theoretically, dd should do the thing without saying a word, but it doesn't. every time it stops after reaching 16GB filesize (partition is about 35GB) and completely locks the system (only reset helps).the dump worked only once, but when i tried to compress this big image 7z got stucked too and the system froze . the problem occurs when copying to the same drive or to different drive. i've got a partial kerneloops logs, but so far i haven't found the answer.

Code:

I tried to restore it:

Code:

Debian :: Dump For Squeeze As A Desktop OS?

Feb 2, 2011

I've been using Linux for about 8 years now, including Red Hat, Debian, Fedora, Mandrake (now Mandriva), Libranet (R.I.P.), and an aborted foray into Gentoo (not my cup of tea). A few years ago, I switched to Ubuntu, and now I use it everywhere. It runs my Mythtv dvr at home, powers my laptop, and my desktop at work. I'm now considering with some reluctance to return to Debian. I like the basic principles of Debian, and now don't feel I need the latest and greatest packages. However, Ubuntu has generally "just worked" in a desktop setting. Anyone with Ubuntu experience tried Squeeze as a desktop OS yet? How does it compare to Ubuntu?
