I just installed 11.4 and was adding a new repository which I entered incorrectly. Yast2 complained and did not add it to the repository list. Now when I run Yast2 Software Management.

I would like to test 12.1 M5 on my real hardware, so I have special for this purpose two additional partitions (sda2 (to install milestone) and sda3 (to store installation ISO files)). I am running my stable 11.4 with Grub on sda1.
I do not like to burn DVDs just for short test of one milestone, so I was used to download DVD ISO, to unpack it to sda3 partition with all its files, then I changed Grub to boot install Linux from sda3. Installation complains there is no DVD or CD, then I chose to force installation from hard disk and select sda3 partition and select root directory "/". As I was used to from 11.4 this will start installation as it would be started from DVD.
But I think the problem has appeared since 12.1, where I get message: No repository found. (on sda3 / ), so the installation does not start.
I know this is not official way to install openSuse, but it worked before, and it was fast and easy for me, to install from hard disk.
So I installed the Unison synch software with sudo apt-get install unison-gtk. When I set up the two directories for synchronization it looks like this: $ unison ssh:\SERVER\pathpath /var/www/path/path/path

I am trying to install from the iso image that a burned to cd, but while loading it comes up with an error. Eventually it says no repository found. I am not sure why this is happening.

I just had a perfectly fine working version of 11.2 that was installed using the network install just 3 days ago but I messed up and couldn't access mySql. Today I blew it away thinking I'd just start over and now it doesn't work. I installed it exactly the same as 2 days ago, whats changed? How do I fix this? I can't access the software repository settings in yast, nothing happens when I try to start it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am installing from the scratch a 11.3 on a PC on which previously 11.1 did run flawlessly. (Athlon 3700 with 3GB ram and Asrock socket 939 mainboard. Graphics is Nvidia. The installation comes every time up to 90% when it arrives at "font initialization). No error message is displayed. The little "cursor wheel" is still turning but else, there is no activity.
DVD from an sha1 checked and MD5 doublechecked download was burned with lowest speed in K3b and verified by the same program post burn, with full success of every verification.
Tried to change DVD reader but does not change the result. Runs speedy up to that step.

Similarly, if I click on System>Add/Remove Software>Package Collections, I get No groups could be found. A cache refresh should fix this. I don't see how to do a cache refresh. I tried rpm --rebuilddb, which didn't do any good and um clean all which also did no good. I did manage to do the updates with yum updates But I don't want to have to use yum at the command line all the time to do updates.

I have done a yum clean all , which didnt really help either. reinstalling the rpmfusion repos isnt an option either as I start getting curl errors in the terminal. I am really at a loss here and am completely out of ideas as I cant install any updates or software , at first I thought the repositories were having problems with the holidays but this has been going on for 4 days now. /var/log/messages isnt showing anything either.

I have a problem. When I start Yast, and it tries to download the update repository, there is a checksum error. The problem is, that this error is always there, it occured about 2 weeks ago and never disappeared. When I change the update repository to a specific one, I chose a german one, there is still that checksum error. If I say yast I want to still use the repository with the error, there comes another checksum error, if i say i dont care about that one either, it says
