View 2 RepliesI'm having a problem with the script thing I installed to make gedit show up on right click and open with. I can't seem to get it to work properly. What I do is this; I right click on a text doc and click on scripts and then open with gedit. It opens a new text doc with "" as the file name. Any idea on how to fix this. I need to know as soon as possible because I have many files I need to use gedit with.

I've got a list of files that I've copied from my terminal and pasted into gedit and into OO.o writer. Since the files are all created by gedit, in each case there is both file and file~. I want to get rid of all the 'file~' lines. I thought I could do search and replace using *~, but this doesn't work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I first boot my computer the Panel clock displays UTC time for about the first 2-3 minutes then switches to Local (UTC-5). My hardware (BIOS) is on UTC. Running KDE 4.3.1 on openSUSE 11.2 64 bit. I dual boot Mint 8 64 bit also and it starts correctly with local. Not the end of the world but I have never saw this behavior before.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIve installed TS3 on SUSE 11.3, it recognizes microphone, but when I try to talk, it captures only noise with segments of words, not understandable at all.. When I try to capture sound by Sound Recorder, defaultly installed in gnome, it works and sound is clear. I tried to play with sound configuration in TS3(trying OSS, ALSA, PulseAudio), but no option helps, its just no input or that crippled not understandable input.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a strange keyboard problem. If I enable keyboard repeat from system settings, every key press gets repeated no matter how fast I press the key. For example if I try to type the letter 'a' I get 'aaaaaaaaaaa'. Or if I type 'mouse' I get 'mouseeeeeeeeeeee'. I've tried different delay and rate options but that doesn't change the problem. If I disable keyboard repeat I can type normally, but it's very annoying when you can't for example delete characters quickly.

On fresh install of 11.4 everything worked fine, but after some updates networkmanager stopped working properly on my netbook (intel atom n270 based).When I log in, network manager shows that networking is disabled and I can't connect. Checking/unchecking the checkbox does nothing. All settings in Yast are OK.To make it work, run "/etc/init.d/network restart" and then plug in the wire OR (in case of wireless connection) I restart network from console, unchecck and check the checkbox in networkmanager and only then it starts to work as it should.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is a very new desktop system using an ASUS mainboard with built on sound. I've never had sound working properly and have re-installed many times. One sound will play (KDE4 desktop sound, Amarok audio, even games under WINE) but when a second sound plays, it stops the first one (and plays perfectly), but then the first app is no longer able to play sound. I tried to get Skype going today and have some very interesting results.
It works but on a test call my voice sounds like I'm going for the "Extortionist of the Year" award! Have a listen here if you feel like a quick laugh - [URL]. Great effect for issuing ransom demands, but not too useful when calling family. I read through the sticky of wireless card not working, and I followed through with the steps, with the exception of looking for firmware, because I'm certain it has it, being that the card works when I'm running Windows, and overall the system recognizes the device.
The only difference is, I notice that the activity light on the card itself does not turn on when running openSUSE. It recognizes the card, it even detects the network, but when I enter the WEP key and finish, it does nothing afterwards. Still no internet.

I've troubles with wireless keyboard and mouse on openSuse 11.3, XFCE. The keyboard is A4tech GL100 and mouse A4tech G7-630 working on 2.4 GHz. The mouse after few seconds of inactivity switches off and I have to click to bring it working again. The keyboard is set to CZ, but always after start automatically switched on ENG, I have to go to Yast and open keyboard setup and close even if the CZ is selected to force the CZ layout.

Now, if I ping the router the response times sometimes are okay but often fluctuate into the range of many hundreds or thousands of milliseconds. I can not not search or connect to a share on the Vista machine from the Linux machine.It seems like there is something that has changed on the Vista machine.

I've been with this problem for ages and finally decided to post. Installed the gedit-plugins package (Version: 2.30.0-1ubuntu1). After enabling Show/Hide Tabbar plugin, and unckecking View-> Tabbar, tabs are still there, anyone knows what may be happening? I'm currently running Ubuntu 10.10 amd64, with gedit version 2.30.3

'gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf' but it is a no go. I used the chmod command to set permissions as.. 'chmod 744 smb.conf' However I am still unable to get the file to open. If I do the 'more smb.conf' command I am able to read the contents of the file, however I am unable to edit them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have ubuntu-8.04.1-server installed on virtual machine. It works perfect. Now, I made copy of this virtual machine. I started that copied machine and it works fine, except one thing: network does not work!
I have several others VMs with freeBSD, openBSD or Windows on it, but only ubuntu machine hes network problem after coping. I tried some other VM with ubuntu on it - same problem! I downloaded VM with ubuntu - same problem.I take a look into /etc/network/interfaces file and it looks just as it should (same as before coping) but ifconfig command returns parameters for lo only (before coping there was eth0 and lo).

A classical case for "aerosnapping" two windows side by side, in my experience, is a terminal on one side and a HOWTO in gedit on the other side. This allows easy copy and paste.
Anyway, a gedit window doesn't aerosnap left and right (it only heeds to aerosnapping on the top, for maximizing its window).
After a month or so on a WUBI install (Lucid Lynx 64bit) I decided to pass to a clean install to a dedicated partition and here I am, almost happy. I have installed 5* ( uninstalled & installed) gedit-plugins package by every means I know of (apt-get from terminal, ubuntu software center, synaptics) and I also have downloaded and unzipped the package to ~/.gnome2/gedit/plugins folder. But none of the plugins is working.
I don't know if it is relevant, but i noticed the following: on my wubi installation i had installed gedit-plugins with apt-get and it had installed in the ~/.gnome2/gedit/plugins folder. Now I find the contents of the package in /usr/lib/gedit-2/plugins and /usr/lib64/gedit-2/plugins. I don't know if it has anything to do with anything.
