I did a manual uninstall of Netbeans 7.0 beta (which basically involved deleting the directory) because the uninstall script didn't work.
But how do I delete the icon from the "start menu" (whatever you call it)? It's under Applications -> Development -> Integrated Environment.
I just found some cool icons and I want to try them to see if they match my theme but I do not know how to change the Icon.

It extracted and asked me for a installation location, to which i put [~]
It then finished the installation.
But when i click on the icon in the start menu or on desktop it fails to start, when i also click on a .pdf document it also fails to start!
is there a way to make the kick icon or start menu icon wider than it is now? I find the default size too small and would like to make a bigger one. I made one and change it but kubuntu still shows it in its default size of which I find it too small.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn these days I was doing some experiments: creating rpms of different programs by compiling directly the source code. Everything went well, every-time I was able to create a rpm and install it correctly, no errors no issues. Unfortunately I was not able to find the way to create in the menu (application tab) any quick launch icon. I was forced always to use the terminal and digit the correspondent command :wxmaxima,gnuplot, etc. I tried to look in the manuals but there wasn't anything useful.
By the way I am using Opensuse 11.3 and KDE 4.4.4.
I switched from 11.2 to 11.4 yesterday. I noticed that the Appearance dialog has only three tabs instead of four tabs. The last tab "Interfaces" does not exist, in where I can select "Show Icon in Context Menu". But I do not know, how to show icons in context menu.

I finally figured out that a .desktop file needed to be made in /usr/share/applications, but I can't get the icon to show up. For the "Icon" field in the .desktop file,tried giving an absolute path to an icon in my home folder, and I also tried putting the icon in all the folders under /usr/share/icons and just putting "eclipse" (the icon file name) as the valueI had copied this last from some of the existing .desktop files that worked, but still had no luck. Does anyone know how to do this?

It was OK. Than I began with set up of different Programms for windows, like WinRar, Avira Antivir ect... As soos as it was done I wanted to begin with set up of openSuse... But the start menu is gone - there is nothing there now! Last time I could choose betwee 2 windows partitions, openSuse start-partition and openSuse fall-Save. -Now there is only "grub>" line

THIS NEVER HAPPENED WHILE RUNNING WINDOWS VISTA OR WINDOWS XP. First icons will disapear and text will not work, images wont be there, system dock and explorer will just not work, the start menu will have nothing in it, and when i restart it, (manual) it will boot and show me specs and say "NO OPERATING SYSTEM FOUND" and when i go into BIOS it says IDE0:_______ not the hard drive name and size like it usually does.
I am using F14 Xfce and i have installed awn so i do not need my desktop icons anymore, ie home,bin and file system, is there any way to delete/remove them? i have installed gconf-editor and unchecked them in apps-->nautilus-->desktop, but they are still there?

It had an icon with chat related stuff, ubuntu one, etc. The 2nd icon had logout, shutdown, etc. I want that icon back. But I can't find it in the add to panel menu. Before removing the icon I checked its about message, and I think it was called the "about panel." But there is nothing resulting from a search for about in the panel menu.

View 11 Replies View RelatedAfter much Google-ing and headaches I finally found out how to change the Gnome Menu Icon in F10. I love the Echo Icon theme, but I hate that Pac Man main menu icon. I had to get rid of it. Here's how to change that icon--and even to replace the standard "Infinity" icon with a much nicer version--or even switch that out for something totally different.
First, enable GUI root logon. This makes copying/pasting the icon to the protected icon folder much easier. Here's how [URL]When you have completed that, log out. When you get to the GDM login choose "Other" enter "root" in Username and then your root password. Now you're logged in as root.
Go to USR/Share/Pixmaps and there are a few nice Fedora icons. There's the "Infinity" logo but it's a much nicer, shinier version of the standard one. It's called "fedora-logo-sprite". But if you're feeling adventurous then try--as I did--"fedora-logo-small", which is the fedora name and a small "Infinity" logo (there's also the "Powered by Fedora" icon too). Copy one of those and paste it to Home or Desktop, or wherever you want. You just want to put it somewhere to stage. Now change the name to "start-here".
Now go to /USR/Share/Icons/(name of icon set using)/24x24/places/ and remove the "start-here" icon (send to Trash). Go to where you staged your replacement icon, copy it, go back to the /USR/Share/Icons/(icon set used)/24x24/places/ folder and paste it. Be sure to empty the Trash Can before you log off as Root User. Log off/ log back on as "you" and the icon should appear. I used the "Fedora (Infinity)" logo as Main Menu instead of the Menu Bar and it works great. The "Powered by Fedora" icon would look great too.
