View 9 RepliesWith out going into 2 much detail at this point this is my issue.
I have installed unbuntu 11.04. I have 3 screens. 2 are attached to a ATi adapter and 1 screen is a sandy bridge video adapter.
I have already used the forums a lot to reach this point.
When i change my bios to set the primary adapter to sandy bridge, I can only get 1 screen to work.
When I set my bios to point to the Ati adapter as primary, then only the 2 screens connected to that adapter work.
How do I get both video adapters and all 3 screens to work?
I have run out of ideas on what my next step should be.
Ati adapter is a Radeon HD 4800 Series. The Sandy bridge one HD Graphics Family
i am using fedora (2.6.35.6-45.fc14.i686), i am not able to configure the usb based wireless adapter, its DWA 125(Dlink) uses ra chipset.

here is the output
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 07d1:3c0d D-Link System DWA-125 Wireless N 150 Adapter(rev.A1) [Ralink RT2870]
i have got the driver loaded with the help of modprobe, still unable able to make it right. when i use system-config-network - wireless - no sign of RT2870.
I have an Ubuntu-based fileserver, which I have set up and works fine for 5 computers (Windows & Linux based). I have one computer, on Windows, which when I map as a network drive it works and I can transfer small files using the USB adapter. However, when copying over a large file, after 2 mins or so it comes up with the error "Specified network name cannot be found". However when plugged in using Ethernet, it will work fine.
What is even stranger is when I set it up as an FTP server rather than SAMBA, it will happily transfer a 4gb file on the USB adapter, which possibly knocks out driver issues (I have tried 2 different drivers, am currently using Linksys one from website - WUSB300N) AND perhaps the issue lies on the Linux server side with setting up the SAMBA server? However I do have another one of these adapters that works fine, but it is on WIN XP HOME with a custom network logon script (as HOME won't remember passwords after restart). BUT it does work on another computer with XP PRO as network place, so I tried network place on this one, and it still doesn't work.......
I just bought this USB graphics adapter [URL]...-computer.html and I need to use it on Ubuntu 10.10. I followed this guide,[URL] but when I ran $ ./configure && sudo make install && make check nothing happened.On Windows, after the installation the monitor was detected automatically. How do I get it to work on Ubuntu?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my UGA video adapter in, when purchasing it I saw on its requirements that is showed it had linux support. However, when plugged it in and restarting no image but the default green image was shown. All wires are check and are plugged in. However, I am not seeing on the computer monitor and no 2nd monitor is found on the monitor settings. Also I would like to note that according to a little research, is that the usb video adapter uses displaylink. I am using Ubuntu 11.04, classic ubuntu and 2D unity desktop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working off of a recent clean install of Lucid (10.04.02) and I have relatives in Hawaii and this morning I tried to go to kitv.com to watch the live tsunami issues. Only to learn that the live feeds would not work.
I have gone and installed the gstreamer plugins for mms as well as the vlc plugin for the same. I have tried with both chrome and firefox and to no luck on getting the live feed to work. I have no problems getting the videos to play from hulu or ..... so I am at a loss as to why I am having such issues.
I will post output of any commands that may be needed.
With FireFox I have installed mediaplayerconnectivity and have it setup for vlc to launch on any mms streams. With the live feed I get the following error:

I have hundreds of MTS and AVI files since 2000 and would like to rename them in the following manner based on the date created: DD-MMM-YYYY HH.MM.SS_X; where X begins at 1 and increments by 1 if there are dublicate date/time stamped videos.
Ex: 19-Nov-2002 08.12.30.avi, 19-Nov-2002 08:13:30_1 and 19-Nov-2002 08:13:30_2
Someone previously wrote the following script for me, and it works great for photos. It uses EXIV2 to get the image date created info. I have tried to understand the script, but am struggling. The video files I have can use the date modified since I have not modified them since I filmed them.
#!/usr/bin/env python
import os
import stat
import pyexiv2

I have 4 video surveillance cameras with built-in microphones. The original VHS based recorder died and so I decided to build a PC based DVR for surveillance recording. Q-See will soon be shipping the QSPD4104 video/audio capture card that can capture both video and audio from 4 camera/microphone combos. (They also have the QSPD4114 with 16 a/v inputs) Is there surveillance software that can record both video and audio from multiple camera/microphone combos?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI install security updates - did so and ended up with a copy of fedora that goes into a loop. I suspect the prob is the driver to my video adapter. To run, I need to interrupt grub with an escape. It then shows me two choices the bad one 2.6.32.12-115.fc12.i686 and the old good one 2.6.31.5.- 127.fc12.i686 It defaults to the bad one, I change it to the good one and tell it ot proceed. this is inconvenient
I see that in /boot/grub/grub.conf the 2 systems are described I beleive that if I merely edit that file, taking out the refernece to the bad one, I will be ok That will leave the bad one on the disk but at least I wont have to go thru the ritual of interrupting grub. If I want to delete the bad one - after I've taken care of the grub.conf file, what do I do?
I am having some weird problem with the firefox based flash player when playing videos in full screen. The video flashes white in areas while the video is playing. I don't know if this is Ubuntu, Firefox or flash. I am running Lucid on a Macbook Pro
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone else ran into and issue with 11.3 with an IBM x3650 server using the embedded graphics card. As a reference this exact machine was working under 11.2. I am aware that there were significant changed in how video works in 11.3.
While installing and during the initial start of the operating system I can see graphical output, OPEN SUSE logo and such.
During the boot process the screen goes blank. The server is still running and I am able to ssh to the machine, but there is no access to the console.
Below is a segment of the /var/log/boot.msg that shows some errors. I can provide more logs if that would assist in tracking this down.
I did a quick google search on ES1000 and i2c and saw the same errors reported with Ubuntu version but nothing for OPENSUSE. There seemed to be a bug that was fixed in that kernel.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I recently installed Slackware 13.1 and now want to get my D-Link DWA-140 to work with it. However I'm quite an amateur at Linux and can't seem to figure out how to. After following many different how-tos and tutorials this is where I am: I got 2010_0709_RT2870_Linux_STA_v2.4.0.1 (supposedly USB driver)package and rt2870.bin (supposedly firmware) in my root catalog. What I have already done with them:
make & make install in 2010_0709~
blacklisting modules 2x00usb, 2x00lib, 2800usb
modprobe rt2870sta
copying rt2870.bin to /lib/firmware
Regardless of everything, my adapter still is not active.. and how can I make the OS load the module at startup?
The usb wifi adapter (airdata 150 s2 usb) which I have don't work well. The first time I put it on my computer does not work, so I installed this package [URL] but still not working. Then I search on intenet and found how to make it to work here [URL] that I do is add "blacklist rt2800usb" at the end of the file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf . After that usb wifi worked, but I have others problems. Some times it disconnect from the Internet and web pages are loading slow and some times do not load at all. Does any one know how I can make it work well? I am using Debian Squeeze.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI love ubuntu, but I don't know how to use a command line to save my life. I'd just as soon never use a terminal ever. My big issue is I cannot get my wireless adapter to work. It is a keebox w150nu, which is based off the Ralink RT3070 chip. I am willing to use command line to get this thing to work because I love ubuntu to death, but everything I have tried has failed. I have gone to the Ralink website and downloaded the Tar.bz file from there. t
The file I grabbed is the third one down from the top: [URL].
I have absolutely no idea what to do from there with the file however. Please understand that I have zero idea how to use command line in a terminal. What I have to do to make this work? Is there a usb wireless N adapter that works straight away with ubuntu 10.10, as in I plug it in before the install, and it is immediately recognized and works immediately?
I've been trying to get a Zoom wireless-n usb adapter to work. It works under Windows once I enable file & printer sharing.I tried to connect directly to the D-Link router using its IP4 address. I received the message the site could not be found. I used network manager (I think. I'm new to wireless ubuntu networking) and manually set the computer's IP4, Gateway, and netmask addresses. Nothing. I connect the ethernet patch cable and I'm in. Network Manager show the wireless network, set as automatic log in, as never used even tho I've connected to it manually several times. The router is in multi-mode - b, g, & n.
I'd show the output from sudo ifconfig -a, and sudo lsmod | grep rt but I keep getting this error message: " 1. You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 15 posts or more."Windows shows the adapter as rt2780 but here you can see it's claiming rt3070. The wireless icon shows it's getting a signal and I can connect to the local network, or so it seems. I'm running it thru a D-Link DIR-628 router. Is there something else I'm missing?
I used Several Distos, went to school up to Linux 225, but haven't used Linux for years. I have an older (P4, Win xp) laptop I use at the coffee shop. I want to put Linux Mint on it. I use a USB Adapter (Arilink101 AWLL6075) for Wi-Fi. I tried the live CD and, of course, USB Adapter doesn't work. In the half hour I looked at it, I realized I forgot a lot of things. I could not even find the laptop USB. Will tring to get it to work be the typical Linux thing, where you download the drivers, do the install right, and it doesn't work? You compile drivers, set everything up right, and it doesn't work?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI can connect to the Internet. I can not access gmail or yahoo mail. It doesn't matter what browser I use.
If I switch to a wired connection, I can access gmail. Other wireless networks work fine.
MY router is a Belkin N, but it allows me to access other sites. The settings seem pretty vanilla, not different than wireless routers where I can access gmail.
I recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 (and eventually upgraded to 10.10) on a 6+ year old Gateway Laptop. When I booted Ubuntu up after installing it, I was rather surprised to discover that the wireless card didn't work. I am almost certain that the wireless card is a Broadcom BCM4306, but I am unable to determine what revision it is, if at all. When I look at the network connections widget, it says that the wireless card is not ready, and iwconfig (I think) says that it's disabled.
It's not a problem with the laptop itself, because I was able to get a Linksys usb wireless adapter to work just fine on it, although it was SLOW (about 90 kbs). I am trying to fix this on a FRESH installation of Xubuntu 10.04 with the default packages on it, nothing more. Now, I was able to get the wireless working ONCE on ubuntu, using fwcutter I think, but it went away upon reboot. One last thing, I am running the 32 bit Xubuntu 10.04 on what I think is a 64 bit machine (I think it ran x64 Ubuntu 10.04 before I ditched it), so how to figure out if it is 64 bit.
I have this tread, for a ASIX USB ethernet adapter. Still don't work.Tody i bought a Davicom DM9601 USB 10/100 EthernetI read here about this work out of the box, since 2.6.21 kernel. I have Linux Mint (Ubuntu 10.10) with 2.6.35-x kernol version; lsusb detect it; dmesg, detect it; at configure, automaticly get the MAC address, but just didn't work; with ping command, i get network is unreachable.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a lot of gtk2 themes based on the Murrine engine (the 0.90.3-2 version) but they don't work.
When I select them with Lxapperance, it returns something like "gtkrc:91: error: unexpected identifier `gradient_colors', expected character `}'" for each line.
I really don't know what I'm doing. I know how to use the command line (though, I'm not often sure EXACTLY what I'm doing with it), I know basically what sudo is. Beyond that I'm pretty lost if you were to ask me to explain any of linux/ubuntu/unix/etc...However. I'm good at following instructions.I have an ancient Toshiba Satellite 1415 laptop.
1.8GHz Celeron
256MB RAM
nVidia GeForce4 420Go (with nVidia X drivers actually working, woooo!)
Intel integrated 10/100 Ethernet
DVD-ROM/CD+/-RW drive [non-functioning]
integrated 802.11b card [non-functioning]
I've installed Lucid via PXE (see above RE: non-functioning optical disc drive). It was a hassle to do so, but since I've not been able to get this laptop to boot from a usb drive, it seemed the way to go. However, the PXE setup process is not exactly straightforward; therefore I THINK I installed it correctly because most everything else works fine, but I really have no way of knowing.
More preliminaries: As the built-in wireless card in the Laptop has been dead for longer than I care to remember, I'm attempting to use a PCMCIA D-Link DWL-650+ (not a 650 or a 650G or a 650G+) which says that it's supposed to work "out of the box" with the ACX100 driver.
lspci returns the line:
Code:
05:00.0 Network controller: Texas Instruments ACX 100 22Mbps Wireless Interface ifconfig returns info on "eth0" and "lo", the ethernet, and loopback interfaces respectively.It makes no mention of a wlan0 interface.iwconfig reports (correctly) that eth0 and lo have no wireless extentions.[code]..;;
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS. Kernel/architecture is 2.6.32-25-generic i686.This laptop ancient and cheap,so it's definitely 32bit.I've tried following various tutorials for getting an ACX100 based-card to work, but keep running into errors that the tutorial doesn't cover.The main problem seems to be that almost all the info out there is out-dated by about 2 years.The ACX100 project's Wiki at TheSourceForge states, "Ubuntu 9.10 deprecated linux-restricted-modules in favor of DKMS.

How will it work? I will need to forward port 443 to the 10.10.0.55 interface right? Without doing that, there is no way this is going to work... is there? And that means that I can't run more than 1 ip-based SSL virtual host on one machine because I can't forward 443 to two different interfaces.
Also, do I use internal ip address or external ip address in the <VirtualHost > tag? I only have one static public ip.
i can't get my wg111t netgear wireless adapter to work. I followed the help thing by installing ndisgtk, which installed successfully. I was able to load up the file on the cd that also the help page said. The problem is that the computer won't load up the adapter as it would load up my cd's and flash drive. Here's how i installed ndisgtk. I installed the files ndiswrapper_common, ndiswrapper_1.9, and then the ndisgtk_0.8.5.All of these were for i386.
