General :: Snmp Acting Illogically - In/out( IfInOctets/ifOutOctets) Count Decreases

I am trying to calculate band Width on few interfaces. Every thing works fine, bandWidth goes up when user loged in it goes down the moment working hrs are over. Only problem is once in a while it show negative bandWidth ? I make that script to send information in-case it negative. here are few examples
Code:
from IP XX.X.X.X interface X
inCounters new = 1056124169 old = 484753332
outCounters new = 71539457 old = 4205963496
inDelta = 571370837
[code]....
Code:
inPut utilization = (change x 8 X 100) / (change in time X connection speed)
but that would not matter because , problem is caused by lowering count on in and out packets.
#!/usr/bin/perl use DBI; my ($db, $user, $pw) = ('dbname', '****', '***********'); my $dbh = DBI->connect("DBI:mysql:$db",$user,$pw) or die "Cannot connect to $db: $DBI::errstr
[code].....
The error message is
[Wed Feb 24 13:03:27 2010] myscript.cgi: DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Column count doesn't match value count at row 1 at myscript.cgi. [Wed Feb 24 13:03:27 2010] myscript.cgi: DBI::db=HASH(0x8a30c60)->errstr
I have a "DataTraveller" 16 GB - that gives me slower and slower speeds on copying files to it. It starts with 8-9 Mb/sec, and goes down all the time, until it's down to kb/sec.
Recently I had (and am still having) a lot of trouble with my Fedora 12 installation.First, 3D acceleration and sound stopped working. This was solver by adding my account to the "video" and "audio" groups (I wonder howcome it worked before?).Then, my keyboard stopped working in X. It would work fine in CLI mode, but as soon as I start X not even the Num Lock LED worked! I think I glimpsed that it might be due to a missing keymap or something, but I don't know. I got my computer back by making Xfce's keyboard settings override X, but it still isn't right, and I can't use anything other than Xfce.Recently I tried to burn a CD/DVD but neither Brasero, K3B, nor cdrecord could detect the DVD burner.
Just like the title, my Ubuntu 9.10 audio acts really weird to me. Sometimes I can't record anything using the sound recorder and the immediate muting of the loud speaker when i plugged in my headphone doesn't work, but then all of sudden it worked and then the problem might occur again. It's like, in some period the audio works perfectly well as if there's not bug, and then it goes wrong.What I noticed is that the problem reoccur when I shutdown/restart my PC and after few minutes/hours/days it works fine again. Does anyone know why this happens and help me solve this problem?
I have not seen a fix posted yet. I am running Lucid standard Ubuntu on 1000HA with Intel GMA 950 graphics. I periodically have keyboard and mouse freezes. It seems turning off visual effects decreases the frequency of the problem but does not solve it. I turned on the keyboard map of control-alt-backspace and I am able to restart x when it freezes. I am running kernel 2.6.32-22-generic which if I read things correctly includes fixes for x memory leaks.
as per pytheas22, i'm attaching few details here. my download speed would starts at 470 kB/s and gradually decreases until it reaches 116 kB/s. Loading web pages seems to be fine.
I want to add a few linux server to our monitoring system (solarwinds).
We have to get this information by snmp.The items we need are: 1-In Byte Transferred on every network interface 2-Out Byte Transferred on every network interface. 3-Memory Usage 4-Memory Free 5-CPU usage 6-Free Disk space on partiotion 7-Uptime
I could not find snmp OID or names for this object to fetch.

I have been trying to set up SNMP monitoring using Cricket. I believe I have Cricket running fine, however I also believe that I have SNMP set up wrong. When I do an SNMPWALK I get the following:
[Code]....
This tells me I have SNMP running, however I would expect to see a lot more data... Am I correct, should I see more data? I spoke to a friend, and he suggested that I have something not set up correctly in SNMP dealing with the community string...
recently i have installed Squid Server and i want to monitor traffic in my lan with mrtg. so i have installed snmp but when i run "snmp -v 1 -c public localhost" i have got "Timeout: no response from localhost". i have turned off the firewall but i get same error.
I just narrowly passed another exam on UNIX Academy. Their DVDs are incredible. While I made some mistakes here and there.I was really stumbled upon a question that was formulated something like "SNMP for managing Linux machines remotely".I can't remember the exact definition. I'm not sure what it was about.I was under impression that SNMP it is a carrier protocol for commands like "ping" and "traceroute". I was trying to read about it online but it is way too broad and technical, they're loosing me on very first page. I suspect there's some kind of product or technology that uses SNMP in some way to handle Linux, I'm not sure.
I list all the instances of a running process my doing:ps -ef | grep myprogramThis lists all them.how can I simply output a count of how many are running?
If I pass in /home, I would like for it to return 4 files. Or, bonus points if it returns 4 files, 2 directories. Basically, I want the equivalent of right-clicking a folder on Windows and selecting properties and seeing how many files/folders are contained in that folder.
How can I most easily do this? I have a solution involving a Python script I wrote, but why isn't this as easy as running ls | wc or similar?
We are working on our subscription renewal and now since Red Hat has changed their subscription model we need to give them the number of physical CPU sockets on each system.I have tried looking thru /proc/cpuinfo as well as tried to parse data out from dmidecode but both of those solutions count each individual core as a CPU.Is there a clean and easy way to determine the number of sockets on each system? We also use RHN Satellite to manage our systems but I believe that is pulling the same data from dmidecode
Anybody know and command to count any characters in file? I would like to know the total number of character " (quote) in file. My idea is to check if in a script the total number of this character is pair.
i try to make a script in bash that u choose a number for example 501 and another number like 1 and find how much the 1 number repeat in all numbers from 1 to 501 for example 11 -->1 repeat 2 times.in 1 to 501 the number 1 repeat 200 times.
I'm trying to make and make install a driver for my wireless, every time, though, I use the make command, it'll start at 0 and cound almost up to 200,000 and then the computer freezes. I've tried different drivers, same result. I've tried ndiswrapper but that didn't work either.
Create the file ~/license_counts, which tables the number of occurrences of packages which are licensed under a given license, for the top 5 most commonly used licenses, sorted in numerically descending order. If performed correctly, your file should be formatted similarly to the following. (Do not be concerned if the actual counts or license names are different. Also, you might notice logically similar licenses, such as LGPL/GPL and GPL/LGPL. Do not make any attempt to combine them into a single entry.)
Iam using snmp to access the remote system data.But according to the requirement iam encoding the snmp request data to OAMPDU packet format and sending to remote system.the remote system receives the OAMPDU packet,decodes it and is sending the snmp packet to snmp agent through UDP socket which is bind to port 161.but iam unable to receive the response from snmp agent.i have created a udp socket which is bind to 161 port to receive the response.
if i use any other free port number other than 161 for receiving snmp agent is not sending the response to that port.can any one please suggest me how to overcome this problem.Can we configure the different ports for tx,rx ?How do we know on which port does snmp sends the response ???
I need to be able to send snmp traps based on certain severity or content of syslog messages. Can this be done from standard linux? Alternatively, are there MIB's out there that support syslog events so I can get the status from snmp?
