View 2 RepliesI can not copy/paste ctrl+C or ctrl+p from one folder to another with the mouse. i was trying to move an item to another folder.
I looked in the keyboard short cut and it was not there. i tried to add it and it put it in custom as disabled and I could not enable it.
I've been using Kaggregator in KDE-PIM, which uses Konqueror as the browserto go to links from Kaggregator.Unfortunately, Konqueror no longer seems tobe able to Copy highlighted material with Ctrl C, the way we've done it forever. Is this a setting I've missed? Or is this a new "feature" in Konqueror?

I don't understand why I cannot use Ctrl-Ins and Shift-Ins shortcuts for copy and paste in console terminal. Shortcuts works fine in X terminal (fluxbox) Konsole... but they don't in text console.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have 3 layouts: USA, Russian and Hebrew. In Hebrew the W key is mapped to apostrophe, so Ctrl+W in Hebrew layout doesn't close tabs in Firefox. There is no workaround for it as I see by now, so I am trying to get it work this way:I want to map Ctrl+W in Hebrew layout(which is actually a Ctrl+') to be a Ctrl+w. Here is what I got from xmodmap:Code:$ xmodmap -pke | grep 25keycode 25 = w W Cyrillic_tse Cyrillic_TSE apostrophe WAs you can see, there are pairs for each layout, each pair tells what happens without and with the Shift key pressed.

I want to test LVM+Raid. When I was testing ZFS on Solaris, I was able to create regular files, and use those as disks for testing.I tried creating a regular file full of zeros w/ dd, then partitioning that. fdisk seemed to be able to create a partition on the regular file, but mkfs and parted couldn't work with it. Is there any way to create fake block devices for testing?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make sure that my laptop will suspend if I unplug it after the lid is already closed, and I believe that one way to accomplish this would be to simulate an ACPI lid event when the power adapter is plugged or unplugged. In order to do this, I need to find a command that will generate a fake ACPI lid event. Is there any such command?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed Ubuntu 10.10 x64 and already am really annoyed by Firefox, which freezes my mouse after changing a tab (with ctrl+tab, alt+#) or closing it (ctrl+w). After about one second, i can continue working as usual. Changing Tabs by just clicking on one does not freeze anything...Maybe some of you would think now if I am crazy because of complaining about such a little thing, but it is really annoying if you are used to work fluently with ff.Edit:I today noticed, that not only shortcuts in firefox, but all Hotkeys freeze my mouse for a second. For examle ctrl+c, ctrl+v, super+e or anything else.Do you have any Idea what causes this behaviour? Reinstalling ubuntu didn't change anything
View 4 Replies View Related1st I am relatively new to linux (but not to *nix). I have 4 disks assembled in the following intel ahci bios fake raid arrays:
2x320GB RAID1 - used for operating systems md126
2x1TB RAID1 - used for data md125
I have used the raid of size 320GB to install my operating system and the second raid I didn't even select during the installation of Fedora 14. After successful partitioning and installation of Fedora, I tried to make the second array available, it was possible to make it visible in linux with mdadm --assembe --scan , after that I created one maximum size partition and 1 maximum size ext4 filesystem in it. Mounted, and used it. After restart - a few I/O errors during boot regarding md125 + inability to mount the filesystem on it and dropped into repair shell. I commented the filesystem in fstab and it booted. To my surprise, the array was marked as "auto read only":

and the partition in it was not available as device special file in /dev:

I just spent a few days ripping out all the broken/buggy apps that are in the opensuse 11.2 official repos so I can finally get working software(openoffice, thunderbird, wine, eclipse, rubygems, rails, and a few others required getting the "official" versions from their respective websites to avoid strange behavior and outright broken functionality).
All of which makes updating more annoying and time-consuming. Why are opensuse packages so different anyway? Anyway, the last thing that I have noticed to fix is Konsole. For some really bizarre reason ctrl+z and ctrl+c do not work without a third keystroke: enter.Maybe this is something new with the KDE team, since they seem bent on making simple things that already work more complex, but given my experience with crappy packages in the suse repos, I am thinking this is the problem. I have looked over all the config settings that I can find and nothing fixes this affront to productivity.
I'm trying to write a init.d script to daemonise a sagemath notebook server. Here's what I've done so far, I've copied /etc/init.d/single for the structure, and tried to use dtach to provide a handle to access the process. However, my main problem is issuing the signals to kill the process (Ctrl-C) from a bash script and exit dtach (Ctrl-`)

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn standard Linux setups you have two general paste buffers, the main copy(^C)/paste(^V) one and the select-text/middle-click one. For both of these buffers:
At what level in the environment are these buffers stored/managed; the kernel, the X server, KDE/Gnome, or some other service somewhere? Can they be programmatically accessed somehow using some standard library?
I'm using SSH (with -X specified) from a Ubuntu box to a RHEL4 box and running GVim. It opens as expected in my local X, but the copy and paste via select doesn't work. I cannot select text in GVim and paste in a local window, nor can I select text from a local window and paste in GVim. This works, however, when I SSH (with -X specified) to a different RHEL4 box. Is there something I need to install on the remote machine? I am running Parcellite 0.9.2 on the local box, but closing it doesn't make the problem go away, and it is not interfering with the other box.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are having 12 windows computers xp which are connected to a linux machine which has samba server installed on it for backup purposes of these 12 windows users. We want the like this , that a user copy a folder from their local machine and paste it to the samba server . but they cannot delete this folder once the backup is there at linux machine.
So this is working fine. But our users are able to Rename the folder they have pasted at linux machine which we dont want . and even they are able to cut and paste files from 1 folder to another folder in the samba server. We just want them to copy a file or folder from their local windows machine and paste to samba server and they can also read it (copy and paste back to their windows computer)whenever they want . but we dont want them to cut and paste within linux machine and rename that file as well.
I am having a strange problem whenever I copy something from a webpage I see content more than required copied and I then have to manually go and delete all the content. This has been quite frustrating. I am using Ubuntu 9.04 and Dell Inspiron 1440 laptop. What should I check?
