I installed Slackware 13.37 current 32 bit (kernel 2.6.38.7-smp) last saturday and almost everything works fine. I don't understand why I cannot use Ctrl-Ins and Shift-Ins shortcuts for copy and paste in console terminal. Shortcuts works fine in X terminal (fluxbox) Konsole... but they don't in text console.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI can not copy/paste ctrl+C or ctrl+p from one folder to another with the mouse. i was trying to move an item to another folder.
I looked in the keyboard short cut and it was not there. i tried to add it and it put it in custom as disabled and I could not enable it.
I have noticed since installing ubuntu 10.10 a few weeks back, that pasting into terminals no longer works as expected. In earlier releases, shift+ctrl+v would paste the contents of the clipboard to the terminal. However, now shift+ctrl+v no longer does this. According to the keyboard shortcuts window, shift+ctrl+v is the shortcut for pasting. How can I find out if another program is using this keybinding and thus preventing me from pasting in a terminal? I've looked in System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts but there's nothing relevant in there. Is there a program that I can run to see how the system responds to me pressing shift+ctrl+v? Is there anything else that I can try to fix this problem. I've grown used to pressing shift+ctrl+v to paste now, and having to remember to press shift+Ins does slow me down

View 5 Replies View RelatedI often have issues starting my window manager--xfce. My computer misbehaves in one of 3 ways, one of which is to fail to open X, but generate several screens of info. I want to paste that info to this site, but since I'm in the shell, not the terminal (please correct my vocabulary if it's wrong here), I don't know how to copy and paste the output, since right-clicking doesn't give me a menu. Even if I could copy I'm not sure the information would be accessible in X. Are there any other options?

I compile like this Code: gcc -fprofile-arcs -ftest-coverage -o main main.c library.o I run my nice program like that

Ok 98% of the lines were used in main.c, and I get a file with line counts and all that. Great! But, I need to know the coverage in my library too! It says 0.0% and that's impossible. So what can I do? I can't run it like an executable because it's a library.
And why is the terminal not accepting my copy paste? I copy some lines from my IDE, then I want to paste it into the terminal (with ctrl-v of course, not some crazy local application non-standard counter-intuitive key combo made just to cause agony among honest users!), and that could've been the only problem here, but it isn't. I can't even paste with that right click menu. So, if I was crazy before, I went nuts after that. My great "solution" was to paste it into the firefox URL field (not the search field ) and then copy that and paste it into the terminal. Is that common practice for you all while dealing with that unburied DOS-window?
I've been using Kaggregator in KDE-PIM, which uses Konqueror as the browserto go to links from Kaggregator.Unfortunately, Konqueror no longer seems tobe able to Copy highlighted material with Ctrl C, the way we've done it forever.Is this a setting I've missed? Or is this a new "feature" in Konqueror?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI downloaded rhel 5.5 CD 1 iso to my PC, and used it as a virtual CD-ROM to kickstart HP DL380 G4.Here is my questions:
1. how can I cut and paste boot commands (very long strings) from my PC to iLO remote console?
2. is there anyway I can get "boot prompt" by ssh to iLo's IP?
3. after kickstart, I want to eject the virtual CD-ROM / media, I have tried the following method in the kickstart profile, but all failed, after reboot, it still boot from the virtual CD-ROM. So how can I reject the virtual CD-ROM for rhel 5.5 kickstart?
I find it abit difficult to press this sequence with one had so i can then type the key code I want on my number key pad, is there any way I can change it to something like [Alt] or [Super] or [Super]+[Alt]

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using SSH (with -X specified) from a Ubuntu box to a RHEL4 box and running GVim. It opens as expected in my local X, but the copy and paste via select doesn't work. I cannot select text in GVim and paste in a local window, nor can I select text from a local window and paste in GVim. This works, however, when I SSH (with -X specified) to a different RHEL4 box. Is there something I need to install on the remote machine? I am running Parcellite 0.9.2 on the local box, but closing it doesn't make the problem go away, and it is not interfering with the other box.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo Ive had this issue off and on for a while now, but have never really looked to see if others have had it or how I can fix it. Essentially the problem is that kde seems to randomly decide that I am holding down the shift or ctrl key.Im using a logitech cordless desktop s510, running openSUSE 11.3 x86_64. Ive had this problem on and off using a couple of different logitech keyboards. The most often time when it happens with the shift key is when im coding, and the control key when Im running a keyboard shortcut.
I can usually fix the issue by holding down the key that kde thinks is pressed for like 5-10 seconds and releasing, however sometimes I have to unplug and then replug in the usb adapter for kde to get things right. This doesnt happen if im running a non-graphical terminal (thouhg I cant say whether it happens in gnome as I dont have gnome installed) so I am thinking its related to kde. The keyboard can be plugged into other computers and they dont act the same way.
This gets esspecially annoying when Im coding (because of all the symbols) and generally when the issue occurs. I think it may have something to do with the key being pressed for over a certain length.
