Server :: Mysql "flush Logs" Or "flush Tables With Read Lock?

Jan 15, 2010

policy is to backup mysql with mysql-zrm.However at a certain stage it hangs forever. This is at the "flush logs". I tried this manually and it gave the same result. Even after restarting mysql and the host. After some googling and trying I found out "flush tables with read lock" gives the same result. The tables seem to be MyIsam. I tried with a mysqldump on one server and restore it on a test vm. I used the same config and flush logs still hangs. ALso I tried to change some configuration directives... but with the same result

Edit: btw, I checked the logfile and didn't found anything (/var/log/mysqld.log)

Edit2: I also did myisamchk -s *.MYI (in all direcoties with db files;actually did it with find command) and it did not return anything so datafiles seem ok.

Ubuntu :: Sync Script - Delete Option In Rsync?

Jul 18, 2010

wrote a script to sync my netbook music with my server music and everything was fine.but if for some reason lets say i run it accidently and i'm not connected to my network, i just wiped my netbook music .here's what i got so far:

Code:
Sudo mkdir /media/ServerMusic/
mount -t cifs -o user=Justin,password=****** //192.168.1.108/Public-3/Music/ /media/ServerMusic/[code]....

i need to have the --delete option in rsync (say i sync it and realize i hate some music, when i delete it from the server i don't want it still on the netbook.i want an if statement in here somehow, but i'm not sure how to do it.something like, the first command in the script should be a ping test, if ping doesn't work end the script, if ping does work continue or if the server music gets mounted to the created directory continue, if the mount failed, or even in the mounted folder is empty stop the script

what can i do here to ensure i can keep the --delete and not have to worry about losing my music if the mount fails?

General :: Know If Noatime Or Relatime Is Default Mount Option In Kernel?

Aug 1, 2011

I was trying to know if relatime or noatime was set on a filesystem, but i didn't found the information, neither in /etc/fstab, neither in kernel boot options.

First of all, it seems clear that i don't have the "normal" behaviour on atime:

root@antec:/tmp# rm -f test.txt; echo a>test.txt
root@antec:/tmp# stat test.txt | grep -i 2011
Access: 2011-08-01 21:54:30.000000000 +0200
Modify: 2011-08-01 21:54:30.000000000 +0200

[Code]....

- Is noatime or relatime a default mount options, and if yes, from which kernel release ?

- Is there a way to see the default mount options (ie: how can i see why i don't have the "normal" atime behaviour ?)

Ubuntu One :: Uncheck The Sync Option In Nautilus, The Loader Next To It Spins Endlessly?

Dec 16, 2010

I have been having some issues with Ubuntu One. I am running Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick. For some reason, Nautilus tells me that Ubuntu's default Videos folder (there is data in this folder) is synced on Ubuntu One when it is not. I have checked on the Ubuntu One website, and the site says the Videos folder is not synced (Ubuntu One's website does not show the Videos folder under "my synced folders"). When I attempt to uncheck the sync option in Nautilus, the loader next to it spins endlessly, or Nautilus gives me an error that it can not sync the folder.

The default display is on a single line with directory names separated by spaces. Direc- tories are added to the list with the pushd command; the popd command removes entries from the list. +n Displays the nth entry counting from the left of the list shown by dirs when invoked without options, starting with zero.

dirs -v shows:

General :: When Extract The Tarball - Forgot The '-C' Option Of The Command 'tar'

Apr 23, 2010

I tried to install gfortran on my computer. When I extract the tarball, I forgot the '-C' option of the command 'tar', which should be added, according to the instruction of installation.

That is to say, I wrote in the mp directory:

Then, the tarball creates a '/usr' directory under '/tmp' directory, and it contains only a /local directory, which contains only a /gfortran directory.

The thing is, when I modify the name of this directory, for example, from /usr to /usr-modi, I found that the name of the directory /usr under the root directory is also changed from /usr to /usr-modi.

How can I delete this annoying /usr directory under /tmp, without tragically affect /usr under the root directory?

General :: Use '{}' To Redirect Output Of A Command Run Through Find's -exec Option?

Jan 10, 2011

I am trying to automate an svnadmin dump command for a backup script, and I want to do something like this:

find /var/svn/* ( ! -name dir -prune ) -type d -exec svnadmin dump {} > {}.svn ;

This seems to work, in that it looks through each svn repository in /var/svn, and runs svnadmin dump on it.

However, the second {} in the exec command doesn't get substituted for the name of the directory being processed. It basically just results a single file named {}.svn.

I suspect that this is because the shell interprets > to end the find command, and it tries redirecting stdout from that command to the file named {}.svn.

General :: SD Card Mount - Error "wrong Fs Type, Bad Option"

Apr 12, 2010

I am trying to make a copy of the SD card that my TS-7800 SBC boots from. When I plug the SD into my opensuse pc I get this error. Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 32: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb4, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so There are four partitions on this card and I can only access one of them.

dmesg | tail gives me this

[894.422497] EXT2-fs warning: mounting unchecked fs, running e2fsck is recommended

when I do e2fsck -p /dev/sdb4 I get

e2fsck: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/sdb4 /dev/sdb4: The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 file system. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock: e2fsck -b 8193 <device> I was hoping I could just plug in both cards and do this dd if=/dev/sdb of=/dev/sdc to copy everything and have a back up SD card.

General :: Noatime Mount And Find Command?

Nov 30, 2010

If the filesystem is mounted with noatime option does it influence find -atime behaviour? I tested and it looks that find is able to see access time but why should it if mounted with noatime? Or maybe it depends on the type of filesystem (I`m using XFS)?EDIT: Looks the answer is [URL]htmlIf a file system has been mounted with this option, reading accesses to the file system will no longer result in an update to the atime information associated with the file like we have explained above. The importance of the noatime setting is that it eliminates the need by the system to make writes to the file system for files which are simply being read. Since writes can be somewhat expensive, this can result in measurable performance gains. Note that the write time information to a file will continue to be updated anytime the file is written to.
