May 8, 2011Could someone tell me how to rotate an image on GIMP? Now You can rotate it 90 180 etc but I would like to rotate the image to level the shot.

Nov 5, 2009I've noticed in Gnome pretty much all applications auto-rotate images when viewing, but leave the original image data intact. This may sound silly, but when I want to post pictures on, for instance, Facebook they upload as the picture was originally taken. So, if I took a picture with the camera flipped sideways it appears upright in Nautilus and the two image viewers I have installed, but when I upload the picture it appears to be flipped on its side. Does anyone know how to disable the auto-rotate when viewing feature?

The only way I could get close is by creating multi-layered composites, which got really big. The only other way I could think of doing it is with OO, creating a presentation slide, and then rendering that slide.

Dec 6, 2010I'm not a Script-fu expert but I did manage to get a Script-fu script to at least not throw up any errors. However, it also doesn't work. I've written a bash script to use gphoto2 and imagemagick to snap a picture, download, rotate and crop it ready for print. I'd like to automate the final step and have The GIMP or some other program print it.
My script-fu script is:

However, I don't get any output. I get the same thing when I run it from the Script-fu console. It seems to execute but doesn't print anything.

Mar 25, 2010I'm trying to make buttons for a webpage - each button has a "graphic" part - say an oval with a drop shadow, and text on top of that, such as "About Us", "Contact Us" etc. I'd like the text to line up horizontally against one another, so that if the buttons are placed next to one another in a straight line across the page, the texts line up with one another. How do I do this in GIMP?Common sense suggests that the "Align" tool should be what I should be using, but how do I use it?

It's important to note that the original script, before I made any edits, did not have this quirk whereas I needed to "touch" the file to get it to orient itself correctly. The 'original' script is in black; my additions are in blue.
Fedora :: Printing Large Image Over Multiple Pages In GIMP
Dec 8, 2009I have a large image that I want to print over 4 pages, each page showing 1/4 of the overall image, that I will past together. I'm doing this from GIMP on an up-to-date fc12 system. Searching around I find that there is a "scale" field in the print dialog and the lp command that cups supports and according to the documentation if I set scale to "200%" it should do what I want.However, when I set scale to 200% I get only one page with the upper left 1/4 of the page and then nothing. How do I get it to print the remaining 3 pages?

My solution was to make a 50x50 image, zoom in, draw it with the 1x1 pixel pencil tool, and then scale it to whatever size i want.Everything went well except, when i try to scale it the anti-aliasing kicks in and blurs everything. Is there a way that i can disable anti-aliasing?

I just thought it was kind of funny, while browsing the software center for an image viewer that could handle it, I noticed the description of the one installed by default and thought it was kind of funny, so I snapped this screenshot and thought I'd share it with you guys. By the way I have 4 GB of RAM and can view the image just fine in GIMP, just thought this was kind of funny.

Jun 16, 2010I've had this odd, stubborn problem that seems to be related to the nouveau video driver and certain kernel builds: opening or saving full resolution jpeg image files using GIMP takes from 1-5 minutes and causes xorg CPU usage to reach almost 100%.This also occurs when using UFRaw to open Canon raw image files. The problem is not intermittent, it happens each time I open a file. Opening photos in the default image viewer works fine.This bug has vexed me on and off for the last couple of months, and seems to be triggered by a combination of kernel version and the Nouveau driver. I switched to Debian Squeeze from Ubuntu 10.04 because I was experiencing slow image open times in Ubuntu 10.04 (using the Nouveau driver).I did not experience the bug running Squeeze with the nv driver and kernel 2.6.32-3.
I did not have the bug running Squeeze with the nouveau driver and kernel 2.6.32-5 backported from Sid.I began experiencing the bug again after the Squeeze updates on June 14th (still running nouveau and kernel 2.6.32-5). I update daily so it's likely to be that day's updates which caused the bug to reappear.Just for grins, I installed the Liquorix kernel. The bug does not occur using kernel 2.6.34-0.dmz.10-liquorix-686 and the nouveau video driver.I have a Nvidia FX5500 video card. I prefer the nouveau driver to nv as my display seems to behave better. The Nvidia proprietary drivers are not an option because they produce X freezes when I am doing photo editing. The liquorix kernel seems to be working fine, but for long-term stability I'd rather be running a mainline Debian kernel.

Jan 3, 2011I want a simple short gimp batch script that will take one image, paste it into a predetermined layer on another image, export as png and discard changes. Unfortunately, I can't find any tutorials on using gimp batch. Anyone know any such tutorials (Or better yet, what my script needs to be)
So far this is what I have. I need a way to loop through the layers to check the name of them, I also need a way to ditch the previously opened files from memory (Otherwise gimp still has both images in memory) (I'm going to mark this solved so I can make a cleaner post once I get it together)

Fedora :: Rotate The Pen When Rotate The Screen?
Sep 7, 2009how can I rotate the pen when I rotate the screen, and I would like to share this knowledge to other people who may have the same problem I had.
I have a tablet fujitsu-siemens t5010 with installed the wacum packages by default, and the pen was working, but couldn't rotate with xsetwacom command.
In Fedora 10, most guides refer to the wacom device as "stylus" which doesn't work on Fedora 11. I run command " $ xinput list " and I found the line
"PnP Device (FUJ02e5) eraser"id=3[XExtensionKeyboard]
and some lines before there is:
"PnP Device (FUJ02e5)"id=2[XExtensionKeyboard]
^^^^^^ this is the name of the device xsetwacom command needs! ^^^^^^^
I wrote first the line with the eraser cause I suppose that even someone has different wacom model, the eraser will be easy to find by grep command ( $ xinput list | grep -i eraser ), and common in most configures.
now , the edited script I use becomes like this:

I think this issue is directly linked to a systems with multiple languages, but I haven't been able to test this theory out yet.

However, it's not touching this existing access_log file. Is there a way for me to manually split and rotate this file into 3 100MB files, access_log.1 access_log.2 and access_log.3? I tried running logrotate (logrotate /home/user/httpd/access_log) from console and it's throwing Segmentation fault.

I would like to have the DELL 2007FP set up to the left of the DELL E228WFP and rotated into "portrait" mode^ with both screens sharing a common bottom edge.

However, like many people, I could not get nvidia-settings to write to my config file despite having run it with kdesudo. Instead, I opened the file with Kate (using KDESudo) and then used the preview from nvidia-settings and just copy pasted it into the file and saved it like that. if I use TwinView I have both monitors working, but when I try to use krandrtray to rotate one of them, it is shown as one large monitor so I cannot rotate just the one I want rotated.However, if I set them up as separate X windows the second one is black and krandrtray only shows the main monitor. I am at a loss of what to try next.
General :: Catalina.Out File Has Binary Data After Rotate
Feb 14, 2011I manually rotated my catalina.out file, and now the file jumps to 30+Mb and when I try to view it, less tells me it might be a binary file. It sure appears to have binary data in it, about 30meg of it.
I did the rotate via a copy:
copy catalina.out to another file
cat /dev/null > catalina.out
I have tried using echo:
echo "" > catalina.out
...also with the same result.
This application isn't something I can just bounce when necessary. It kind of appears that the original file is still there - sort of. But is it not readable text anymore.

Feb 3, 2010I can't open any files such as .png's or .jpg's in gimp. How can I change this. I installed it via pacman. I don't know if this helps, but I'm running kde with arch. I'm guessing I need to add the path of libpng to the plugins section. What should I do?
