Sometimes the website will show an alert box akin to "Are you sure you want to leave?" when you try to leave the site. Is it possible to disable this from happening, without using something like the NoScript extension?
I would like to run versions of Mozilla Firefox 3.6.5+ as a single process, just as it was in versions 3.6.3 and prior. The reason is that, on Linux, I am running within proxychains - which doesn't bind to forked processes. Because the plugins in versions 3.6.5+ run in a forked process I can't use proxychains to redirect Flash streams. Is there a setting in modern versions of Firefox that allow me to run plugins in the main process?
I noticed that if I have "exit" in a bash script file., e.g. script.sh,that when the word "exit" is reached, and the script file being executed is not in the PATH nvironment, i.e. ". script.sh", the whole konsole shell profile is exited! What gives here? Is there another command compatible to "exit" to prevent this, or will I just have the leave the "." part in the PATH enviroment, which is, to my understanding, is not recommended? I desire for a "goto" function in bash script files
In linux, creating thread is same as process (clone()), except the virtual address space gets shared with the parent. If a running main process(thread) creates new thread, and if main thread exits, why should the new thread too exit? both are different entities, The same doesn't happen if the child thread exits, the parent thread would be alive.
I have Ubuntu 10.04 and MegaRAID controller. The only tool I have is the notorious MegaCli. I need to be emailed when some disk has failed in the RAID array. How to set that up?
I just installed firefox and flash-plugin.The version of firefox is 3.0.10, package is firefox-3.0.10-1.el5.centos.The version of flash-plugin is 10.0.22.87, package is flash-plugin-10.0.22.87-1.el5.rf.But firefox crashes when there is flash in web page, unless disable flash plugin in firefox.
I'm trying to set up a tool that emails me periodically (in my case, psad). It allows by default to define just a destination email for reports. Is there a general way to get this or similar tools to use a non-default SMTP server, with TLS? (e.g. gmail's SMTP)
Since Firefox is cross platform, this is equally Linux and Windows question, but presumably the Linux crowd knows better.
Whenever I go full screen with any kind of video in Firefox I get the "press ESC to exit full-screen mode" warning that plagues my screen for several seconds.
way to block sound coming from Firefox. My problem occurs when I want to play some flash game that doesn't have an option to turn off the sound and I want to listen to music at the same time.
I disabled font smoothing in control center, but Firefox is still using smooth/blurry fonts. Everything else is how I want it. How to turn this off? I prefer the old ugly crisp fonts.
Is there a way to configure hotkeys in Firefox, specifically to disable SHIFT/CTRL/W from shutting it down? I looked through the preferences, and about:config, but didn't find anything.
I am trying to stop acrobat automatically opening and embedding a pdf reader in firefox whenever I download a pdf. I can't for the life of me find a way to turn it off (short of editing a file called pluginreg.dat which clearly states "Do not edit").
I have tried the following:
about:config in firefox gives me no option to disable plugins of any kind (odd, as others report that that is where one does this kind of thing using plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types or some such, but nothing like that is there for me)
edit->preferences->applications is no help. it says "portable document format" should lead to an "always ask" question. clearly, this is being overridden
finally, disabling acrobat settings like "allow fast web view" does nothing.
I was browsing through the Ubuntu Software Center when I came upon Gosa2 2.5.19.1 and thought it might be something to try out. After installation, Firefox seems to have a clean profile. Well I don't want Firefox to have a clean profile; I want to be able to view history from weeks ago.
When I go to Applications>system tools>Gosa, I'm directed to a page that says: "Error 404 Sorry, the requested document could not be found on this server." I've tried uninstalling GOsa, but that doesn't help.
To tell you the truth, I'd be cool to disable GOsa and then get rid of it.
I have Ubuntu 10.04 with Gnome. Whenever I put in a blank CD/DVD an icon on the desktop appears named "Blank CD/DVD" and a window appears asking me what I want to do with it. How do I disable the window and the icon from the desktop?
have had a problem with my ubuntu system recently in that it will only let me connect to the Internet through Firefox if I switch network.dns.disableIPv6 on. How do I do the equivalent in Ubuntu to enable me to use Ephiphany etc which are not working anymore
How to disable popups in Firefox by editing prefs.js file like the same way you do it by going to Edit-Preferences-Content and unselecting the Block PopUps box. I need to do this through a script thus i need to edit preference file directly.
Is it possible to disable the icons in the bookmarks tool bar? You know what I mean: my facebook bookmark always has this little F right next to it, the ..... bookmark has the red and white ..... icon, etc.
Those are pretty nice, but they don't really work within the theme that I am using (airlines). To relax my eyes, I usually pick less colourful themes. So it'd be cool to get rid of all those obtrusive icons.
I know that some firefox themes don't have them. But I think I like the default one, just not the icons.
I have done a search there and I didn't find any discussion on this. My apologies if this has already been discussed. In which case, an admin can always close this thread, and redirect me.
Oh: this might be important: I am using Ubuntu 10.04. and firefox 3.6.3
When I run my script(attachment) and I use an option(-l -u -r) that requires an argument, it should exit if the argument isn't supplied, but it doesn't. How do I arrange this?
I recently deleted all my Software Sources that were under "Other Software" and all my "Authentication" because Mint kept updating my xulrunner to a new version which would disable Firefox-Smooth-Scaling.Therefore I deleted all my Software Sources that were under "Other Software" and Authentication, and forced Mint to only install the xulrunner which uses Firefox-Smooth-Scaling. Unfortunately, after I deleted the software sources and authentication, now I can't update my system properly and get error messages that keys are missing. I added some software sources back the "Other Software" (someone responded to a previous post of mine on which ones to add), and under the "Authentication" window I tried hitting "Restore Defaults", but it only added two keys. These are screenshots of my Software Sources windows.
