General :: Can't Source File By Shell Script In Ubuntu 10.04

When I try to execute my script its getting error

But in Redhat I can run same script . My script as follows.
I am trying to write a .sh script that will source a file containing evnironment variables and then open a konsole terminal session that will have those settings.
this is srinath,newbie to linux and shell scripts.am in need of shell script,which have to checkout the source code(C/C++) from CVS server to a specified directory and compile that source code and get all its dependency files to a specified directory.

I had a situation in which the the path of the file to be copied is written in other file and I had to copy it using shell script..I can use cp $(cat /home/robert/location.txt) /media/sda1 on normal linux shell...But I am using buildroot script where $(cat /home/robert/location.txt) evaluate to nothing..is just blank..
I am trying to compile C source file to generate .trb file (turbo file) which will then burn on trubo sim using TP2. I need a shell script that will add the users name and date to a file when the user has modified the file, these files are within a group and only accessible to this group. But we need a way for people in the group to know who and when the file was last modified.
I am supposed to take some small files, and print them to a specific printer, such that the small files are concatenated into one file. The file name has to be included in the file that gets printed.
Should I be looking to concatenate the files into one file with the file names included, and then print them?
I have run into problems building GNOME Shell from source on the Lucid Lynx. The Lynx has GNOME 2.30, correct? Well, ~/gnome-shell-build-setup.sh tells me that "GNOME 2.26 or newer is required to build GNOME Shell" when I already have 2.30. Just look at this screenshot [URL]...
This machine has sh as the shell default. Where is the source file for this shell? I only have .bashrc under my directory. How do I have it sourced automatically at login in?
I just downloaded the blueman source file to get bluetooth tethering in my linux so that I can use internet (that's the only medium for me) but i dont know how to install from source code. And i cant even get online now! (I am posting this via operamini) Any installation instruction with screen shoot for offline mode installation for blueman? Or is there any other way to connect a pc for the first time via dialup using a phone because I don't have broadband.

I want to create a shell script that I can run as a cron job to do automated backups. how to proceed. I have the source code and have pulled out the backup source files. Here is the link for the source code. The download is at the bottom of this page. The backup files can be found in the src folder listed as backup.cpp and backup.h [URL]
If someone can do this, I believe it will make a nice addition to the Basket application for all.

I am IT Manager. Currently I am responsible for a mostly IBM shop, running a mix of AIX, OS/400. VMware, and Windows.
My P-series running AIX and Oracle and my AS/400 both back up to tape drives daily. But my VMware system is not being backed up, the virtual machines are, but my tape drive just broke down.
I just ordered a server grade machine with an i5 CPU, running 3 2TB SATA drives in RAID5, this is going to be my new backup server.
I am hoping I can put Linux on it, and some sort of open source file replications, real time backup software that will back up my Windows servers, and my Windows desktops in real time.... any sort of animal exist?
I vaguely remember that there is a way to store instructions for vim in my file (like tabstop width etc). I'm not speaking of settings in vimrc but of storing those settings with in the file to be edited. That way the tabstop has always the right width even if I transfer this file to another computer. However, I can't remember what the magic word is so that vim picks up those settings when loading the file.
I'm using Ubuntu minimal install (With no window manager). What is the quickest and easiest way to upload a file somewhere? Something like a script to pastebin would work.
I have a small script that uses the find command to look for a log file named: backup_log.txt. And then uses the first value in the log file as a variable in the script later on. However, say there are two or more of these log files located in different directories, how would I let the user choose which log file will be the one to use, and then make that (fullpathtofile) the value of the variable that will be used.
I am working on some homework, however i am not here to be spoon fed. I am trying to get the numerical modification date of each file in a folder. Ie lets say there is a file called bob and it was modified 2006-11-23. i want to get it into a variable as 20061123.
