I have numerous clients that run Fedora 32bit VMs on Fedora 64bit hosts and ntermittently, these will crash under load.eg. 2 Fedora 12 64bit hosts with a F12 32bit VMs.When performing an rsync from one VM to another, the receiver with choke and die.Virtual Machine Manager with show it up and running but 'the light are on, no one's home'The VM will not repond to ping. Obviously telnet is down.Even the vnc view of session 0 is unresponsive; mouse is not displayed within the borders of the viewer. ere is the VM def'n:

F12 + Samba4, services smb and nmb set to run at levels 2345 - after reboot, I need to manually doservice nmb restartin order for all machines on the network to "see" the shared folders. It appears that service nmb does NOT start properly, as when above command is entered it shows "FAIL" as message for stopping the service.
I'm running Eclipse 3.5.2 on Slackware 13.1 (64bit) and Eclipse is crashing whenever a pop-up to assist with code (ie: displays a list of properties for an object to pick from) is displayed while editing. I've also tried upgrading my JRE & Eclipse to 1.6.21 & 3.6.1, respectively, with no change in result.
The resulting hs_err_*.log file begins with:
Quote:
# # A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment: # # SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x00007fa00f531244, pid=17577, tid=140325409208080 # # JRE version: 6.0_20-b02
I'm running 64 bit ubuntu 11.04, installed off dvd onto dell inspiron 530 if thats helpful. This is my first attempt at linux ever so i know absolutely NOTHING about it.
During a software update the machine froze for a long time, I had no choice but to hard-crash (hold the power button to shutdown) starting up again I can get to the login screen and log in but there is no desktop environment visible, just a mouse pointer (which can be moved about) on a blank screen. I'm using Karmic Koala with Gnome (I am relatively new to Linux, I am essentially using the default package)
Downloaded from here: [URL] then ,it is 32-bit and I need to know what all 32-bit libs are needed as dependency for skype to work. I am on Gnome Fedora and purposefully selected static version of skype to prevent installation of libqt4.
I just bought sony vaio laptop(EB16) couple of days before.I had window 7 OS. Two days before i downloaded Fedora-12-x86_64-DVD & installed in my PC.Everything is working fine except when i play any video or audio file such as .avi, .mp3 from any player such as vlc player, movie player ,xine etc , i don't get any sound.I tried to search this problem in internet but still i am not able to resolve this problem.
Im trying to set up my 3G modem to recive and send sms but I had no luck so far
Code:
Bus 002 Device 010: ID 19d2:0031 ONDA Communication S.p.A. ZTE MF636Im I tried with gnokii and wammu and many other things and did not want anything to do
64bit Slack doesn't recognize my ethernet device. ifconfig -a show no eth0. It's an onboard nvidia MCP55 ethernet nic. Never had this problem using 32 bit Slack.
When I try to modprobe forcedeth I get the following error:
repeats those two statements 3 times
I just recompiled my kernel with every possible 10/100 ethernet device included in the modules. Still no go.
Can anyone get the website below to work correctly with Firefox 3.5 and F11 64bit?[URL]...All I see is the background scrolling slowly and jerkily, none of the buttons at the bottom work. Reboot into Windows 7 and IE8: the same site is fast, smooth, the buttons work and the product details appear correctly in the centre of the screen.
I've tried disabling all adblock /pop up block options, ensured all javascript options are enabled and no change. Could this be a problem with the 64 bit flash player (installed from leigh's sticky thread) or a problem with OpenJDK?
Edit: now working, thanks very much Leigh and Dangermouse.
Anyone successfully installed AIR and iPlayer on F11?
I've switched to 32 bit Adobe flash, tried Autoten for AIR and Dangermouse's advice for iPlayer: url.html but it's not working, and trying to install AIR from url results in an endless busy downloading graphic .
I assume my problem is a lack of required packages, though I searched the repositories using YUM extender for the packages listed here: url.html and can't see them either as installed or available.
As i just started to write scripts, i'd obviously like automize some actions, therefor i'd like to check the users system if its 64bit. Is there a function to check this?
were's a good start to get into bash scripting, the files i use as template gave pretty much good info, but yet i have no idea what i'm actualy doing
Iam trying to install F15 64bit but I failed my hardware as folow

I have Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 / 2 GHz processor. i just upgraded my system with 4 memory sticks i.e. 7GB of RAM due to my requirements. Now the issue that i am facing is that my 32bit fedora system does not showing and suppoting more than 3.XX gigs of RAM when i consult "/proc/meminfo", "free -m" and "top". Now i have done two thing, first i have installed a PAE version of kernel. In result of this my system become two slow with the following error at startup. Error: starting udev: wait timeout. will continue in the background <Failed> Secondly, i installed a 64bit version of Fedora 10 but still it showing not more than 3GB of memory. Also a kernel bug system alerts me of not supporting more than 3gigs of RAM and ask me to send that bug to[URL]
Today I got update notification. I type in terminal yum update, and get this error: Quote: Error: Missing Dependency: libnetfilter_conntrack.so.1()(64bit) is needed by package iptstate-2.2.1-5.fc11.x86_64 (installed) You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: package-cleanup --problems package-cleanup --dupes rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
I removed iptstate.x86_64, again run yum update, and than, ibnetfilter_conntrack got installed. I tried to install iptstate.x86_64 again, but i get Quote:
I had Fedora 7 and Windows Vista dual booting on my computer. I just installed Fedora 10. When the live CD asked me where to install it, I chose "Remove all Linux Partitions and create default layout" The installation went perfectly, but now when reboot my computer, it boots directly into Fedora; GRUB does not load to ask me which OS I want to load. I know I did not overwrite Vista because I can still view my Vista files through Fedora. Here is my grub.conf file:
[Code]...
What do I need to do to make GRUB load again upon booting?
I have found that APACHE or 'httpd' is installed in my machine. But the problem is I can start or stop the httpd but whenever I load the url http://localhost in Mozilla it shows a page load error.I have done this ,
$ /etc/init.d/httpd start then this $ /etc/init.d/httpd graceful
I had the latest adobe plug in installed in fedora 11, and then recently did a fresh install of fedora 12. The flash usually works fine until I open multiple tabs in firefox and crashes almost immeditely when I open multiple flash videos, though not always. It is not that big of a pain, but it would be nice to have multiple tabs open for the kind of work I do :-).
I log in, and it works perfectly fine until I try to actually use it. As soon as I click to open a chat with someone, it crashes. It wasn't doing this until this morning, and it's given me no problems before now, other than the occasional failure to send messages through.
When it crashes, it brings up the Bug Buddy bug reporting tool. Also, on further testing, it seems to only be doing this when I try to open a chat with my sister, and it does it whether it's recognizing her as being online or not.
i dont know what happens to my fedora 12 firefox browser it keep crashing after 5 minutes. the first one week after installation had no problem but since yesterday it keeps crashing after 5 minutes after start. please tell how to resolve this. and how to update my Mozilla firefox.
Fedora keeps crashing on me. It happens randomly. Sometimes it will give the equivalent of a blue screen for windows. Other times it will just reboot. [URL] Does any of this mean anything to anyone? Would really love to use fedora because I like it a lot an I'm getting familiar with it but it keeps crashing.
Its a fresh install. All I have done so far is installed updates via Yum, including the updated kernel, installed RPM fusion and I installed my wireless drivers.
I have this weird problem. some of the apps like gnome-system-monitor, gnome-power-preferences, nm-applet(when clicked on edit connections) keep crashing.
the moment I log in into my gnome desktop, all the apps work fine for a minute. the problem starts after a while say 5 mins... I will not be able to run any of these apps. I always get the crash window.
Iam using fedora 11 on a toshiba satellite m200. this problem has been there for a long time now. initially I thought that software updates will make it ok. but even after several updates, the apps keep crashing.
is there a way to fix this?. everytime I need to access them, I need to logout and login and then acces them quickly before they start to crash. this is quite time consuming and irritating.
I'm running Fedora 10 (2.6.25-7 kernel) with Gnome on a custom-built computer that has 2 gig of RAM and an Intel Pentium 4 2.4 gig CPU.
I noticed F-Spot and started playing around with it, importing and tagging pictures and the like. Problem is that after manipulating only one or two photos (rotating 90 degrees, that sort of thing, nothing major), F-Spot crashes itself. It doesn't crash my computer, just closes itself without warning.
This happened several times, so I ran System Manager at the same time so I could track CPU and memory usage while using F-Spot. I found that CPU usage spiked to 100 percent, but RAM and swap were never touched at all, notwithstanding the high CPU usage (RAM was a constant 289 meg used out of 2 Gig available, never changed. Swap was never touched).
No error messages or statements come up. Just the plug is pulled on F-Spot.
So, why is F-Spot crashing? Is this a known bug with Fedora 10? Would forcing the use of RAM help? If so, how?
I reinstalled fedora the other day, and it's been working just fine, apart from the internet. It shows that I have a full connection with the wireless network, but it's really difficult to actually load a page. 80% of the time it just fails and shows "Page Load Error". It's really frustrating because it is connected to the internet. In fact, the icon in the address bar even loads from the site I try to access, but websites just will not load.
I've tested my wireless internet with another laptop which is running vista, and it works perfectly on that. Also, I'm running Fedora 10 on an Acer Extensa laptop.
I want to load grub2 from grub4dos.I want to load directly the grub2 core. I know how to load first 512 bytes from some patition by chainloader and load grub2, but what I need is to load directly grub2 core without passing by bootstriping code (first 512 bytes). So, my first boot manager is grub4dos, then I can load grub2 and later I load Ubuntu. But I think I have to edit --set-root What I dont know is how.
In hdd 0,7 (sda8) I have Ubuntu 10.10 and /boot/grub/core.img is in sda8 (hd0.7)
I tried this way:
Code: title grub2 find --set-root /boot/grub/core.img kernel /boot/grub/core.img
