Fedora X86/64bit :: 10 Cannot See 4GB Of Memory - Only 3.2GB?

Apr 23, 2009

I just upgraded my Dell e1505 Laptop from 2GB of memory to 4GB of memory. I upgraded because I was under the impression that x86 64-bit OS would be able to read that much memory.

Vista Ultimate 32-bit, reads 4GB installed, but only 3.2GB of physical memory. Which I understand, being a 32-bit OS.

Fedora 10 x86 64-bit though, also only sees 3.2GB

p.s. - Could it possibly be that I bought the wrong memory? The memory that came with my laptop was DDR2 PC2-5300, but when I search on Dell.com to purchase memory using my service tag, I get results for DDR2 PC2-6400 - which is what I bought. (Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

I also did searches on xxx.crucial.com and xxx.newegg.com and both stated DD2 PC2-5300.

The following is what my BIOS reads:
- Intel(R) Core (TM)2 Duo Processor 2.00 GHz
- Memory Installed: 4096 MB
- Memory Available: 3327 MB

Red Hat / Fedora :: Memory Usage Always High And Utilizing Full?

Jul 14, 2010

In our database, when checking the memory used using top command, we are always seeing 32 GB RAM utilized. We have set the sga_max_size to 8gb and PGA to 3 gb. We have tried shutting down oracle db and then the memory went down to 24GB when checked using top command. After cold reboot of the DB server, it gone down to 1.5 GB.

But once the users are started using after end of day, the memory again gone back to 32 GB.

Fedora X86/64bit :: Version 10 Won't Boot After Installing 4Gb Of System Memory

May 9, 2009

I have been using for over a year now, my 64-bit computer first with Fedora 8 and now with Fedora 10 with 2Gb of RAM just fine. Today I purchased an extra 2Gb for the system and upon installation from the GRUB screen Fedora 10 simply won't boot. It does boot with 3Gb, and it doesn't matter which stick I use for the 3Gb configuration, or what slot do I put the sticks into the motherboard, however if I place the four sticks, F10 simply won't boot. Should I pass a command line argument tot he kernel? If so, which?

Fedora Hardware :: Can't Write To Flash Memory. Automatically Set As Read-only

Jan 21, 2010

I used to be able to write to my SD memory card but just recently it is being automatically mounted as read-only. I checked the read-only tab and tried to set it to the lock position, and to the unlock position. Neither position makes a difference. It was working normally a few days ago. I also tried changing the permission using su

ls -lt gives the following result
drwxr-xr-x 4 col root 16384 1970-01-01 01:00 CANON_DC
chmod chgrp and chown in su mode don't change anything either.

I tried mounting a different 1GB SD card and it works perfectly. I noticed that when I mount this card I get a window asking me what I want to do, but I don't get this on the other card. It must some kind of setting related to the unwriteable card.

I am using F10 2.6.27.41-170.2.117.fc10.i686

Ubuntu will mount the disk as "Blank CD-R Disc, i can access it, and everything works except when i look at the properties it says there are 0 bytes used and 0 bytes free. The drive reads discs with data on them just fine, and they work flawlessly, its just blank discs that dont work. What i need to know is if there some property i need to change or a line i need to put in the terminal to make it read blank discs? Or am i completely screwed?

CentOS 5 :: Memory Usage - How To Read Those Numbers Exactly At Top

Jul 14, 2010

My Centos PC has got 1 gig of rams. I'm running a webserver with 2 websites and a mysql service. also i need to start two other programs, which uses ~300-350 mbs/each. My memory usage without them is around 450-500 without them. It was 100MB~ free with everything i need on a sec ago. I've refreshed those two sites and it was ~50 left. SO what, site refresh for each user takes 20 megabytes or something? Is there any way to lower the overall usage without turning off mysql, apache and the two other programs? If there is how? And about number read, it says in the top command on mem like 4.4, 1.2, 2.0, etc.

What does that mean? I thought it's like 2.0=20 megabytes, but it doesn't add up to 450-500 then. And by the way, swap memory is 0kb. I have no possibility adding more rams except paying more 5 dollars a month for another 512. 5$/month is a lot for me (sounds funny)? Check out my country, you'll have to rethink. Especially being a student with no possibility to find a job). As for webhostings, i cannot find anything for free, that I could host my wehsites with ping less than 100 actually. Or <80 if say, then it's php memory limit is too low for my WP blog needs.

I want each machine to have full rw access to file shares on each other machine, AND, full rw access to the other partitions on the same machine home folder for UNbooted OS's. I imagine Samba will NOT handle all these configurations? What else do I have to do, so that, for example, if I have 2 machines on, and I boot up a third machine in another room, it will auto mount the other 2 machines' shares, and it export it's own shares to the other 2 machines? I want also each machine to have full rw access to shares on the UNbooted partitions of each machine.

I've tried disabling all adblock /pop up block options, ensured all javascript options are enabled and no change. Could this be a problem with the 64 bit flash player (installed from leigh's sticky thread) or a problem with OpenJDK?
