View 6 RepliesIs there a way to cache everything in squid except for the video files and mp3s?I had a problem before when I turned caching on and it made the performance very poor because it was trying to cache large video files.Right now, I have a problem on the server where even if iptraf lists ingoing+outgoing at 5000 kbits/sec viewing video works fine, but it takes a while for normal webpages to load and I can't figure out where the bottleneck is.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there a website builder for Fedora 12 that will allow me to design a webpage using a GUI, and then produce the relevant html code from that?I'd like something that would allow me to create, move and resize several <div>'s on the page, and update the code as well. Then allow me to drop text or graphical elements into those <div>'sAt the moment I'm looking into KompoZer, which runs on F12 OK.

I looked but can't figure out if anything I have found while searching thru 'yum' is what I'm looking for.
I have recently installed fedora 13 on my desktop, it is ibm hardware, an older 1 gig processor, it is a full install, it functions fine but with one problem. The ethernet card is functioning, however the only web pages I can get to come up is the fedora stuff I believe comes with it. I have looked at the forums and guide and they all say it should connect itself and be good to go, it has found the connection, but cant find anything on the internet. I have two computers connected to a router, when running windows both connect just fine. When I switch mine over to fedora it will not open any web pages, gives me a "cant find the server" message. I have tried several things including changing settings and manually setting IP addresses and mac addresses, nothing has worked.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe wired internet connection for my notebook works fine after starting up Fedora. Webpages load quickly. But if I close the notebook for as little as 10 minutes, webpages won't load at all, even though NetworkManager still shows that there's an internet connection.
Disconnecting and reconnecting doesn't fix the problem, and neither does logging out and logging back in. Restarting the computer does fix the problem. This problem doesn't occur with Windows 7 on the same machine.
I have installed F10 x86_64 on my laptop with the intent of having a few VM guests under qemu/kvm to run test machines for my code while at a week long class. At home, hard wired to the LAN, my DomU's connect the internet just fine. Perhaps not exactly the way i want, but it worked. Now I am at the class and I've had to connect via wireless network. My DomUs CAN resolve URLs to IPs, but I cannot connect to the web to view any basic web pages.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used wget -r to get all the web pages that were linked from index.html. The pages listed in index.html are all chapters. After using wget -r, all the chapters are now in the same folder on my local hard drive. Is there a way to build the chapters in their proper order into a "long"/"full" web page, rather than simply having each chapter as a link/next link on a previous page?
View 9 Replies View Relatedwhat is the best way (i.e standard way that is supported on all browsers and probably as well followed by web crawlers).... to include an html file either locally or externally in another ? Of course , i've done the research and i also know that there are server side includes (php , asp ...you name it) at the moment , i'm using this:
Quote:
<script type="text/javascript" src="path to file/include-file.js"> </script>
however, i've been warned that this method may not show up in some browsers as some tend to ignore this tag and that crawlers like your favorite search engine wouldn't bother reading this. so , what is the best and safest way to do the job? and btw , the reason why i've ousted SSI's from the start is because of among other things:
1) the fact that the included file is static html and because the text is included pretty much everywhere
2) hoping to reduce load time as the code (if successfully recognized) would hopefully be treated like any other embedded external file (e.x like an image) , therefore it would be cached without the need to downloaded it over and over again for each new page on the site.
I'm trying to load the flash stuff in webpages, but it says i need the flash plugin.
I download the YUM rpm installer, and use yum localinstall to do it.
Terminal say: /home/wade/Download/adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm: does not update installed package.
I have already tried installing it, and it says it worked fine, but I'm still unable to view flash.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up my fedora 10 server. I am currently working on samba. I have added users and created their home directories with their own html directories. I have changed their html directories to 777. However, it appears to be read-only since I cannot create files or folders within it. Can anyone please give me some ideas as to what may be causing this? Probably some extra configurations I may have overlooked? Any help would be kindly appreciated. I also created a general wshare (writable share) directory for all users within home directory but I am encountering the same problem and cannot write to it.

It doesnt open firefox and it doesnt give me any message to let me know that it even recieved the request.

Global Settings:
My setup is two laptops connected by crossover cable. One runs Windows xp the other Fedora 13. Neither is connected to internet. I'm using a subnet of 192.168.1.x On Fedora eth0 is up, apache runs because it creates pidfile. Everything pings fine. Windows xp ip pings fine from command line. Gave Windows xp a static ip of 192.168.1.1 mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 1.2, same as eth0. xp says it sees the server. eth0 is up.
DirectoryIndex looks at index.html. I created that file with very simple code and put it in document root. Document root permissions are 755. Access_log 770. Error_log 644. Apache User 755. Listen 80 When I type the ip for eth0 (192.168.1.2) into firefox, firefox gives me an error message - can't find server. The connection status says its connected.
The error log includes a line: [warn]./mod_dnssd.c:No services found to register I don't know what this means. Apache is not writing to access_log. When I cat the path to access_log I get nothing, then a command prompt. I'm looking for the part I'm missing that will let Apache serve that index.html file to firefox so I can see how my code looks to firefox as I go.
