Software :: Setting The OpenOffice Default Browser?

Sep 13, 2010

I installed google-chrome and configured it as my default browser in my desktop "Preferred applications" configuration app, and in update-alternatives --config x-www-browser. I also exported the BROWSER variable to be = /opt/google/chrome/google-chrome (logged out and then logged in again). Although, If I open a XLS file with some links inside (OpenOffice 3.2.0) it opens links in firefox instead of google chrome. I surfed across all options in Tools->Options and there is nothing to set or change the default browser.

General :: Set Default Browser On Ubuntu From Command Line?

May 10, 2011

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 with Fluxbox.

Since I installed Chromium-browser, it has been set as the default system browser (don't know why, don't know when, maybe I clicked accept somewhere without paying attention). Now every web link I click (for example from Skype), Chromium will be opened instead of Firefox.

How can I make Firefox my system default browser?

I need to set this preference using the command line.

Ubuntu :: 10.4 - Setting Default Terminal Window Size To Screen Width

Oct 3, 2010

In 10.4 I had set my default terminal size to my screen width - I type some long commands. After running an update this morning, my terminal comes up in the install default size. Using the preferences dialog, I cannot find the control to set the default width. Has it been removed? I hope I'm looking in the wrong place, but I have a chilling feeling that it's been dropped or perhaps just accidentally commented out.

The problem is that droplists at the prefered applications don't show any other than the default ones, Firefox and TotemIs there a way I can change these settings via command line or a way to fix what applications are shown at the control panel?

Fedora :: Setting GDM Back To Default?

Jan 20, 2010

I tried changing my Theme via MAC4LIN and it didnt work i get an error messege that shows:

cp: cannot stat `/etc/gdm/gdm.conf': No such file or directory
sed: can't read /etc/gdm/gdm.conf: No such file or directory
sed: can't read /etc/gdm/gdm.conf: No such file or directory

Previous to this i had tried installing KDM but it didnt appear to do anything (as in change any of the display management settings) The guide that i was reading to install MAC4LIN just uses GDM so i decided not to pursue KDM anymore. I Get the following read out:

[Jason@Echo ~]$ yum info gdm
Loaded plugins: presto, refresh-packagekit
Installed Packages
Name : gdm
Arch : i686

[Code].....

The goal is to set all my GDM settings back to normal so i can have that gdm.conf file. Anyone know a way to set the GDM back and repair any damage ive done?

Fedora Hardware :: Setting Correct Default Permissions On /dev/parport*

Jun 23, 2011

I know - who uses parallel ports any more? People like me with an excellent, but old, HP OfficeJetPro 1150C. This is an old problem marked [SOLVED] in the following link to nowhere:

[URL]

I'm at Fedora 13 - 2.6.34.8-68.fc13.i686.PAE

Problem
1. /dev/parport0 is not found by sane unless you reset permissions after each boot
2. hplip udev rules only seem to support usb devices.
3. there are no/dev/parport[0-9] rules in udev/rules.d anymore
4. Did I read something about these ports being handled by HAL ACLs? If so, how do you do it?

default:
ls -laF /dev/parport0
crw-rw---- 1 root lp 99, 0 Jun 23 07:48 /dev/parport0

must do at each boot: sudo chmod 666 /dev/parport0

Ubuntu Installation :: Adjust The Default Setting Via /etc/default/grub?

May 29, 2010

I have already had Vista installed on another drive and from what i've read on the webs you get to dualboot if you install ubuntu after vista. when i did install it (i installed on a blank hdd with no partitions, choosing the "erase entire disk" option since for some reason default option was attempting to eat a part of my windows 1 gb drive instead of using disk i specially made for it) and the grub 2 loaded for the first time, there was NO option to run vista. only 2 linux (normal and recovery) and 2 memtests. I've ran linux and went to google this. I found that i should add something to some config files in /etc/grub.d/From reading the readme file i understood i could add my own files that are named like NUMBER_SOMENAME and insert code into them. Because it said:Quote: For example, you can add an entry to boot another OS as01_otheros, 11_otheros, etc, depending on the position you want it to occupy inthe menu; and then adjust the default setting via /etc/default/grub. But then i found a file 40_custom that said:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
exec tail -n +3 $0

[code]....

General :: Possible To See Log Files On Browser - Setting Up Aliases?

Jul 22, 2011

I'm trying to make it possible to see my logfiles on a browser. For instance, I want to browse to [URL] and see a listing of all my logfiles. Because the logfiles reside outside of the web content directory, I'm trying to set up an Alias. Here's how I'm doing it:

Code:
Alias /logfiles /path/to/my/logfiles
<Directory /path/to/my/logfiles>
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>
Then I restart apache /etc/init.d/httpd restart

When I browse to [URL] I get a 404. I've been online all morning looking for a solution and all I find is what I've already done. BTW, this is a RHEL 5 on a LAMP stack.
