Fedora :: Set Delete Command On The Mouse?
Aug 6, 2009I was using f10 on my T42 and I had the delete command set on the right click key, after I upgraded to f11 I haven't been able to do that, does anyone knows how to set it up?

Oct 26, 2010I just installed Picasa from google and it has corrupted my picture database. The good thing is that it has done it in an organized manner. It appended -1 -2 -3 and so on to the copies file name. They look like (filename.jpg filename-1.jpg filename-2.jpg) the original having no numerical suffix just (filename.jpg)How do i write a command line to remove all of the undesirables without deleting the origionals?

Sep 27, 2010I have custom built Linux kernel (2.6.31) and also xorg. xorg is using xserver 1.7.3 . I have an application which simulates the mouse and sends mouse move events. When I switch the device on, the system boots and Xorg comes up, I can see X cursor on the system. When I start sending mouse move events from the application, the cursor do not move. If I attach mouse to the device and then move the mouse, from this point onwards the mouse events get detected from the simulation application. I have checked the dmesg log as follows

Jun 17, 2009I have install fedora11 live and the mouse work well when installing.When you reboot the mouse works ok until the welcome screen apears then the mouse stops working and I cannot continue with the postinstall. I have a 1TB usb externalHD that I am installing fedora11 and have partitioned it so that I have 500Gb free for fedora, system is doucore 2.4,4gb RAm, I tryed doing this with three differend mice and connectting the mouse to different usb ports

Jan 4, 2011I just upgraded to FC14 (64) from FC13 (32) and the mouse middle button (simultaneous left+right button) paste function has stopped working. I tested it with 3 makes/models of different mice and trackballs. For some reason (left+right) mouse returns the same code as the single right-button ('xev' value = 3). This worked in all previous FC and RH distros I've used in the past. Did a default setting get zonked somewhere? System: Toshiba laptop w/ USB mouse.

Jun 22, 2010Biggest one that make game unplayable is mouse. Mouse isn't moving smooth it jumps around. I cannot shoot anything. So i asked for help, and everybody just say install windows. And where is fun in that. If people when ever run into problem with some software on linux just install windows. Linux would never go forward. I m not some great gamer, but i would like to be able to play this game. Probably somebody run into same problem. I sow that people talk about something like dis on WOW and wine but simptoms doesn't seem same to me.

Jul 9, 2010I'm running FC12 and GNOME.If I move the physical mouse about one inch, the mouse pointer moves across the entire screen.That's way too fast and way to sensitive.I prefer the mouse pointer to move far less distance on the screen when the physical mouse is moved.
From System->Preferences->Mouse, I set the various mouse Pointer Speed acceleration and Sensitivity to Slow, Fast, Low, High, and and I couldn't get it any better. At the least sensitive settings. if I move the physical mouse one inch, the mouse pointer moves across the entire screen.How can make the mouse pointer less sensitive to mouse movements?

Feb 18, 2011This is a bit of a longshot but I was wondering if anyone has a command to delete all the non-admin software from ubuntu. E.g. Openoffice, firefox, media players, photomanagers... Reason being is that there is an image of ubuntu which is specially optimized for my hardware but its on a standard ubuntu install, where infact all I want is file and printer sharing, chromium and xbmc (with any dependancies). I want the install to be as small as possible so I was wondering if anyone has done this before and knows a one line command for it? I would try building my own image from ubuntu sever but I think it would take too long.

I have created a folder "/home/jim/myFiles" where he can save his document files. But Jim has accidentally deleted his myFiles folder on 2 occasions. He had intended to delete a file in that folder. Is there a way to lock the folder so that the user and create/read/write documents in that folder but not delete the folder itself?

Likewse rm FOO1[3-5] wishes to delete all files that begin with FOO1 So, what is the best way to delete ranges of files like this? I have tried with both bash and zsh, and I don't think they differ so much for such a basic task?

Aug 13, 2010I am trying to get my standard PS/2 Wheel mouse working on the Console command line, and seem to be having major problems getting it to work.
For the record, I am NOT talking about X, Xterm's or any Graphical Interface, my mouse wheel works fine in these environments.
I am purely concerned with getting the mouse wheel to work on the Console.
After many hours of reading forum posts about getting the wheel to work on the Console, this is what I have tried to date:
1. I have downloaded and installed every version of gpm I could find in the hope that one would utilise the wheel. (No Success).
2. I compiled and installed the latest version of gpm stable (1.20.6) to see if the wheel would work with it. (No Success).
3. I have tried setting up gpm-1.20.6 as a repeater to X, using every string I could find (msc, ms3, pnp .. etc), as well as every /dev entry in xorg.conf /dev/mouse, /dev/input/mice/, dev/gpmdata/, /dev/psaux ... etc). (No Success).
4. Created directories and configured a gpm.conf to both /etc/ and /etc/conf.d/ in the hope that gpm was looking for them there (read that in one forum or another). (No Success).
5. I then tried to find mouse wheel patches for gpm, and then downloaded the relevant version source gpm.***.tar.gz to go with these patches. Nearly every single one of the patches failed to apply (using patch -p1 >), except for one version I tried that did apply ... but then failed to make (stating that the source had a different signedness or some such thing) ??? (No Success).
6. I looked into IMwheel, but that seemed to be a purely X program that was a lazy way of writing ZAxisMapping in xorg.conf. (No Success).
So now I am stumped ... Does anyone know if if is possible to get:
a). A Wheel Mouse Patch for a recent version of gpm (1.20.6) that will actually apply, and then make?
b). A prepackaged recent version of gpm-1.20.6.tgz that has been patched to enable the wheel that I can use?
c). Any other information that may enable the mouse wheel to start working on the console.
