I am currently working on a Diskless Fedora10 based PXE image that should auto login and then launch the ICA client without launching the desktop (so normal autostart will not cut it)I have got the image up and running, the clients boot correctly, autologin etc, but still launch KDE, and I was hoping replace the desktop with the ICA Client.
View 1 RepliesI have fedora 11, and installed citrix ica client from the citrix website, but it does not seem to be working. Basically nothing happens instead of launching. I have also installed "terminal server client" (which does work except for the citrix ica connection part of it). In this program when you go to the option "Add connection", then there is an option that says "Citrix ICA connection". It used to be greyed out before I installed the citrix client from the citrix website. Now it is not greyed out but nothing happens when you click on it (also no error messages). I also tried going on the hard drive to '/usr/lib/ICAClient/wfica' and also to "/usr/lib/ICAClient/wfcmgr" and manually trying to launch those executable files but nothing happens there as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have a debian lenny high performance cluster running seamlessly using dhcp and tftpd-hpa. All nodes are completely diskless, and i would like to keep it that way. I now would like to have a client boot over local into a full KDE desktop.
Here's the cache.
1. I would like the client to also be a node. I would like it to handle processing as the other nodes do, but this one with a full desktop, with ALL data and privileges accessible.
2. The client will have its own workstation graphics. It will need to have that driver loaded without slowing the system.
3. Client will need to be able to use its own usb, bd-rom, dvd, audio, etc. even though it will be booting into the HPC.
4. Wireless. I cannot run 70 ft of lan across an apartment. not happening.
The idea is a media center applicable "powerhouse" with high-end power and graphics for easy media editing, 3d creation, and gaming. Will also be used for webcache over all local, file sharing, and other server applications.
HPC specs:
-headnode: hp compaq p4-ht 3.2 ghz, 4x500gb, 4gb mem, gigabit ethernet, wireless-N
-nodes: 4x p4-ht 2.2 ghz, 2gb mem, no-name brand slim desktops; 2x panasonic toughbooks p4-mobile 1.8 ghz, 1.5gb mem; 3x gateway p3 unknown specs; and 1 hp 530 notebook 1.6ghz core2 duo, 1.5gb mem

View 4 Replies View RelatedI get a wrong architecture error when I try to install the .deb .A fully 32 bit enabled install of Ubuntu 10.10 86-64 on a D525 Atom based system does not seem to work at all. It will not install with gdebi or the new Ubuntu software centre.I have the 32 bit required OpenMotif libs installed...and all the other stuff that is i386 arch works perfect. I really want to run the 64 bit os but perhaps I can dual boot it with Fedora 32. There is nothing in the asus bios of the board that says emulate i386 like with AMD 64 chips...I thought that the D525 atom was fine as it will run 32 bit XP or any 32 bit linux.
So what might be the trouble with running 32 bit software on Ubuntu 10.10 64 on this machine? Why does the Ubuntu hacked gdebi software install system insist that i386 software is the wrong arch for this intel atom?This is really maddening as my wife's work demands this citrix client, and the last thing that I want to do is run out and buy an oem of Windows 7.been there done that with 98, XP, and Vista I am looking to ditch her noisy POS vacuum cleaner vista machine..but I cannot do it until I have the linux citrix client installed and working.

I am using Exceed (the hummingbird) as an X emulator on my PC, I have X11 forwarding turned on in putty, and I have the DISPLAY environment variable set to the PC IP address + , like so DISPLAY=192.168.100.11:0. The kernel and initrd load fine from the tftp server. The kernel starts, then hangs after probing USB devices. The messages show that initrd does not have support for nfsroot. I think I need to better understand how to add this in when I run dracut to build the initramfs image.

I'm trying to set-up a diskless environment on my home network, based on a F12 server and one FC14 client and I have a problem that I think is related to NFS, but googling around I cannot find any solution.
Basicly the client boots correctly, gdm fires up showing the login window, but the system doesn't let me in, if I switch to console (CTRL+ALT+F2) I cannot login with both standard and super user getting a "permission denied" error.
I tryed to mount the exported fs on another computer and ls -l on the mounted dir shows both user and group set to nobody.
If i mount the exported dir on server side (i.e. mount -t nfs localhost:/...) permissions user and group shows correctly
I've been running 10.04 since September on my new MSi i3 notebook and about two weeks ago I noticed that when I login after system boot, propagation of icons on my desktop and the content of my Panel have become slower and slower.If I logout and login again the propagations are not slow.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a truly freakish thing happening here. First I'll start with a general map:
Workstation A (10.10.0.100) - Ubuntu 10.10 joined to mydomain.local via likewise-open
Workstation B (10.10.0.101) - Ubuntu 10.10 joined to mydomain.local via likewise-open
Workstation C (10.10.0.102) - Ubuntu 10.10 NOT joined to any domain
Server A (10.10.0.1) - Windows 2003 AD Server on mydomain.local
Server B (10.20.0.1) - Ubuntu 10.10 joined to otherdomain.remote
As you can see I've successfully installed likewise and I've been able to get SUCCESS notifications from the join. I've been able to log in locally with a domain user and use a domain user password. I've also added a special Group in AD for linuxadmins and then added that to my /etc/sudoers file so I can sudo from a Domain Account. Great right? I'm slowly replacing Windows. But there's a hitch:
I can't SSH from machine to machine! but it's still not quite that simple.
I can SSH from Workstation A to Workstation C as a Domain User.
I can SSH(Putty) from Server A to Workstation A and B as a Domain User.
I can SSH from Server B to Workstation C as an alternate Domain User.
I can't SSH from Workstation A to Workstation B as a Domain User.
I can SSH from Workstation A to Workstation B as a Local User.
I can SSH from Workstation B to Workstation A as a Local User.
I can't SSH from Workstation B to Workstation A as a Domain User.
Complicated enough for you? The simple version is that if it's joined to the domain I can't ssh into another machine that's also joined to the domain while I'm a domain user. But give me a local account and it's as if there's not problem. I tried looking through the logs to find something but wasn't about to find a "sshd" type log. Syslog was completely unhelpful as it doesn't really show anything for the time stamps of my connections. Where does one start troubleshooting this?
I thought it might be a groups thing like the sudoers file, but I don't have an ssh or sshd group. Oh and what does SSH do? What's the error it throws?

I've done chmod g+s on it so the group is correct on new files but I want new files to also have 775 permissions so the rest of the group can access these files fully. Currently they are created with the default 755 (which I want still every where out side of /data/department ).

On the FC14 host, the syslogs show that the passwd is invalid:

The Solaris host has been reconfigured to generate md5 passwds and the linux host the same (via authconfig). I don't know if this is related to my NIS problem, but when I generate the SAME passwd on linux, the shadow entry is different.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am running NFS and NIS servers in my FC8. Clients are also running FC8. Everything was working fine. I could login remotely to server as well as clients. Suddenly (few days ago) a problem started. I can not login remotely to client machines. I did not do anything. I can login to server remotely, but not the client. When I try to login, it accept password and nothing happens. Also, when I try to login from server to client same thing happens. We share the home directory of the server with client. Another question: there two type of nfs server nfs-user-server and nfs-kernel-server. I just use gui to set up the NFS. I don't know which one I am running. Is there any way to find out which nfs I am running?
