This is my first time using Fedora and I love it but, I had problems installing Openshot then I found a modified rpm. Now the problem is Blender 2.5, Openshot needs Blender 2.5+ and I only have Blender 2.49b and I cannot install blender 2.5 from the source because it just runs and Openshot will not work with it. How to setup Blender 2.5+ in Fedora 14 and how to configure it with OpenShot.

Does anybody use openshot in Slackware 13? What I made: I modified the slackbuild script for openshot of Slackbuilds.org for version 1.1.1 and then I made the package and installed it. Of course the dependencies too. But when I start Openshot, I get the following error:

how to model using blender(2.48) on fedora 9, and I'm having one small problem. I have been modeling on Tremulous on and off, but I have been having a recurring problem with vert counts that I have decided to address. I had planned to add plugin scripts to blender that will let me import/export md3 files. I was able to download the plugins in a zip file and I know where the blender scripts are located, but this is where I'm having problems. When I try to move the extracted plugins into the folder, I get a warning about me not having permission. I know I can get around the problem by using my root login command. What I don't know the command I need to use to move the plugins where they need to go.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs it me or is Fedora's Firefox slow? This is really noticable on my machine when viewing Myspace pages, especially ones with playlists. With pages like these, it scrolls really realy slowly. Also, it seems to load pages much slower than in Windows (something in Windows that is actually better than its Linux counterpart?!?!?)
Another problem that I've noticed is that when running Blender, it shows the title bar, but if I try to drop down a menu like File, or Render, It shows a white square, about the same size as the menu should be covering the GNOME panel, and it looks like the Blender panel that the File, Render, etc, menus are on covers the GNOME Panel, but if I move my cursor over icons or click on GNOME menus, it replaces that section of the Blender panel with the menu or whatever I clicked on, kind of like a hallucination, if that makes any sense.

i have openshot 1.1.3 installed on my debian squeeze. i want to export my project to videos-hd format. when i try this, whatever i select in video profile and quality, i get error message that codecs libx264 and libmp3lame are missing. i have downloaded them from [url] and installed .deb's. libmp3lame required dependency package libmp3lame0, which i also installed. but openshot error is still here? what have i done wrong?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem getting Blender to run in Ubuntu 10.04. Whenever I run it, it just gives me a blank grey screen. I have to use "Force Quit" to close it down. It will not close down just by right clicking on the bottom tab and choosing "Close".
I have installed the version from the Ubuntu Software Center and it gives me the blank grey screen. I have manually installed version 2.49b with Python 2.6 for Linux x86-32 and it gives me the blank grey screen. I have manually installed version 2.56a Beta, 32 bit and it gives me the blank grey screen.
I run a dual boot system with Windows XP and Ubuntu 10.04. I have installed Blender in Windows XP and I have no issues. The program opens and you can see the normal layout with buttons and such.
Here is my computer info:

-Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor 1.70GHz
-512 RAM (Although it shows Memory as being 432 Mib in sysinfo)

I do not receive any error messages when I run Blender. Just a blank grey screen opens up, doesn't allow me to do anything, shows no buttons and has to be shut down using "Force Quit".
I'm trying to use Openshot video editor but it doesn't start, I have tried to uninstall all other video editor (kdenlive, cinelerra) cancel and re-install libraries (mlt, melt, ffmpeg...)
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install OpenShot for the second time. I was originally trying to make a slackbuild for this, when a new one appeared in SBo. It does not work for me, however. It seems that it has to run a python install script and this fails. The package then complains that it cannot find the mlt python bindings.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI've just decided to switch from Ubuntu and give this distro another go. I've not used SUSE since 9.x so we'll see what happens. I'm running Gnome anyway but when I launch Blender installed from the repositories it goes fullscreen (press F11 in firefox and that's fullscreen). This isn't the default - the default is windowed like when Firefox is maximised say.
You can run it from a terminal with the switch -w to launch it windowed but that doesn't do anything...still fullscreen. Then comes the kicker - I downloaded the alpha version of 2.5 which is a binary in a tarball and it still did it. What's going on? Why is openSUSE 11.2 forcing fullscreen mode? Any ideas because I quite like what I'm seeing in this version of openSUSE but I really need to do my 3D stuff in it and fullscreen makes things difficult when i want to multitask.
Any one have try the blender 2.53 Beta?? I'm trying to use on openSuse 11.3 KDE but blender don't executes

I highly ask to the mod/admins to move this post to the correct location if needed to be, or let it continue as normal. My problem here is with this software blender 2.56a, I'm running Ubuntu 10.10. 64bit This version of blender worked just fine for me since it updated to my computer. But right after finishing an complex render, blender crashed and will not start up again.
Every time I click on the icon it just keeps flashing up and crashing down. So I went to the main blender site, and downloaded one of their stand alone version of the 2.56a. I ran it and it works just fine.
I tried reinstalling blender 2.56a under Synaptic, but no use. I'm out of ideas, I want this software to run like it use to. Again, It use to run without any problems, but just under one hard render it crashed, and Now it wont launch again.
However, I did mange to get my project to render just find under the stand alone. If any one needs some sort of debugging file, or information of some kind. I would then need to know how to re-chieve it..
I really want to start using blender and was wondering if I would be better off upgrading my ram (I've got 1.2 GB) or my hard drive (15 GB free) for better results. And, correct me if I am wrong, I don't think that blender makes extensive use of your video card does it? I have a Radeon 9550.

It shows the blender logo of some sort of creature riding a space ship thing but all I get is a black screen. Every 6 seconds it flickers to the blender interface but then immediately goes back to black with the blender logo.
I have DRI enabled and I am using the "intel" driver. Its an Intel 82852/855GM onboard graphics device.

237 frames in 5.0 seconds = 47.305 FPS. Blender works fine in Windows XP so I know my onboard video can support it.
I was sticking to openSUSE 11.2 for as long as I could because I had good functionality and such. I always used OpenShot video editor without hardly any problems. Eventually, being as I am using a new 64-bit system now, I HAD to upgrade the OS to 11.4 to get decent full-screen flash playback. I'm not new or really bad at video editing.
But I do like simple things because I already have enough stress outside of computers in my life. So using OpenShot was very nice because it is simple, basic, and functional; and gets the job done just fine. I just now went to openSUSE 11.4 and OpenShot crashes on load everytime, even after reboot. I would say I know more about computers than 90% of [morons] but there is no way I will ever figure this out.
Any repositories with the openshot video editor. -installing it from source?

I can import my files no problem, they all show up in the preview pane, but when I drag them to the timeline track the don't add. No matter what the decision, it outputs a segmentation fault. I can load it with a -p switch, as well as loading it as sudo (just to test) so I'm kind of thinking if i can re set the session to default, then I will be able to get around it?
I haven't been able to test this though because I cant find where the config files for epiphany are! It doesn't output anything useful other than segmentation fault. As for openshot, I JUST installed it, and it installed with no errors, but when I try and run it, this is the output

I eventually did buy a Terra HD from Zareason that I love, but I cannot get it to do my video editing of Flip Mino home videos. I know the machine is capable. It plays bigger AVI files without any problem. For sound it uses the Realtek chipset. Samples of the .avi Flip Mino videos are here. A nice short one for experimenting with is 2.3 MB, here. According to Avidemux, the Flip Mino videos have the following video properties...

My goal is simply to trim the beginning and end to get the best segment in each home movie. Avidemux worked great on my old machine as long as I changed the output audio format to MP3(LAME). But Avidemux is not working and wants to know all sorts of things about devices of which I am ignorant. The default settings must be wrong since the audio playback is choppy and usually the video saves to a one-frame broken file.
I also tried Openshot and it has no device preference issues. However, I am ignorant of how to make it save the videos properly. It wants to "export" the video using all sorts of options, none of which are simply "use the setting for the only track". Based on the 640x480 size I tried some Square NTSC tests but the exported file was always much too big -- usually larger than the untrimmed original!
Also, Openshot appears to lack a keyboard shortcut or button for "move the beginning or end of the clip back or forwards one frame". Is it really expecting me to use the mouse to position the clip's borders precisely? I have no vested interest in which software is used. Nor do I care about the resulting file format as long as it is neither wastefully large nor senselessly abandoning quality. I just want to share my home movies with friends and family.
Found a weird issue with Openshot video editor ( Gnome, squeeze amd64 ) version 1.1.3-1 ( stable ) but it also applies after upgrading to version 1.3.0-1.1 ( from sid ).
After starting Openshot there are icons ( and tabs ) missing on the toolbar :
After hovering my mouse-pointer :
After ( in menu ) : View > uncheck Toolbar and again View > check Toolbar :
Choosing another gtk-style in gnome-appearance-properties : Theme > Customize... > Controls seems to solve it. I've checked different Controls, some have the same problem and others don't.....

Although I am an obsessed Ubuntu user, I am also a realist. When I have to give a presentation, I often have to use someone else's computer, and that system invariably runs windows. So when presenting via Powerpoint with embedded video on a default windows install, I need to be certain that the video format will play correctly. It is hard to convince windows users that Ubuntu is better if your videos/slides/documents etc don't play nice with their setups.
I have used kdenlive before (on OpenSuse) and it has a wmv export profile which works, but I was really hoping to sort this out using Ubuntu.

I have recorded some video, and now wanted to add some sound.I added a sound track, but when it's playing, I can't hear anything.I'm usually running Jack - for Ardour/Hydrogen etc... - I can't find anywhere in OpenShot to change the Audio to Jack, so assume it's not supported.I have killed Jack in the hope that Alsa will work with OpenShot, but still I have no sound.
