Im an acid gamer, but I cannot get my Fedora 10 to run ANY games (even other Windows programs wont run properly in Wine) so i was wondering how I could partition my drive to have a Fedora 10 and a Windows xp partition.

alice
city of heros / villians
never winter nights
postal 2
doom series
warcraft "not that ghey wow" lol
was wondering what was the best / easiest way to install each through terminal.
I have Ubuntu 9.10 on my netbook, and the preinstalled games work fine. But every game I've tried to install, SuperTux, SuperTuxKart, and Freedoom, specifically, crashes. I haven't tried any other ones because of this. They will start, and then I'll get to the main menu and choose to start a new game, and then the game just closes.
All the drivers are updated as of a couple weeks ago. I read something about disabling screen savers and desktop effects, but I already have all that done. Somebody also mentioning installing caffeine, but apparently, that just automatically does the same thing.
I had Ubuntu 9.10 .. upgraded to 10.04 LTS... i dunno if its the ati driver or what but when im on wine the games runs fine for a couple of minutes.. 5 to 10 maybe and then the whole system freezes.. cant close cant do anything... the mouse moves though .. and the sound keeps looping, thats if i use OGG on wine insted of ALSA... This looks like it should be on the wine segment but i dont think so... I mentioned wine cuz ATM wine is all i got on this pc as for games.... im downloading urban terror to see if it freezes too...
I remember that right after i finished installing ubuntu 9.10 i upgraded it right away to 10.04 without having the ati drivers installed, after the installation finished... the boot up logo from ubuntu with purple background was at its normal size as usual... But once i installed the drivers.. the ubuntu boot up logo or whatever its called went all BIG like if it was using another resolution, though once it finishes loading, the resolution goes back to normal when in login screen and desktop.
HOw do i remove the drivers completely? do i have to restart after removing them so i can install new drivers? should i use propietary drivers from amd site or the one found by system--- hardware drivers??? why cant i find envy at synaptics?
I recently upgraded to 10.10 and basically everything works fine. However, in games such as quake 3 my mouse doesn't work, the cursor just doesn't move at all. I can use the keyboad,graphics and sound are fine, and the mouse works outside of the game as usualI am on kubuntu 10.10 64bit here, 2.6.35-22 kernel, and nvidia geforce gts 240 with 260.19.06 driver.

is there a trick to getting openal devices created? I installed all the openal packages I could find:

Some do. Most don't. (For example FoF launches gives a black screen and freezes Fedora hard-reset needed) I tried a heap of games from the repos. Most of them freeze I wouldn't know where to start to solve the problem.. Also most N64 Emulators don't work so no games or anything is REALLY boring...
I got the games working. but their running pretty slow (In certain points, Strangely when displaying messages it goes slow when it disappears it goes at full speed) But fact is... Is there something I could do to get the most out of my graphics card? I'm gonna try ending some processes right now... But there has to be something else I can do... I asked on IRC the best I got was "Buy a better Graphics Card"

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhile installing the fedora desktop I had unchecked the Games and Entertainment section but I can still see the same Games options available in the menu.
I tried checking the same in the Add/Remove Programs but I was not able to get the option for uninstalling the same.
Games which are present are: AisleRiot Solitaire, lagno, Mines and Sudoku. I would like to delete the games options available.
after having used 9.10 KK for quite some time now, i got curious about the games.i notice that while i am trying to install some of them - Airstrike, ACM Serial Combat Simulator, 20.000 Light Years Into Space etc, i am not able to do so.i a message box saying the following " Requires Installation of untrusted packages.The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources.can anyone please let me know who i can install such games ? and since there seems to be such a security threat how do i distinguish the 'bad' from the 'good' games.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI accidentally deleted my mahjongg game from ubuntu 10.04.Now when iam trying to install it from software center or synaptic, half way through it's asking for ubuntu cd.Eventhough i insert the original ubuntu 10.04 cd,it's not taking it.it keeps asking for the cd.It is same whenever i try to install any more game from synaptic or software center.

Many people who are interested in educational programs for their children do not know where to find them for windows, and even when they do find them, they cost money, and might be worth nothing. So, i started looking into this on Linux, and did only minimal research on the available programs and games that are educational. I wound up already building 3 new computers that use Fedora, and getting several other people who already have a computer to switch to Fedora, just by making a video on how to use most of the educational programs that are available. This made it easier for those people to learn how to use the programs, especially for those that are not that intuitive, and it also showed them just what was available. [URL]
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy children use the Webkinz web site for fun and games. The site works with other LINUX OS (Ubuntu) , but I can not get it working with Fedora 12 or 13, 64 bit. I have installed flash from the [URL] Fedora wiki and flash works (I have tried both 32 and 64 bit versions). The webkinz site loads, but none of the buttons or games work (Try using the log in button, a new window should open asking for user name and password).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got fedora 13 today and put it on a slightly older computer to mess around with it, and two things I realized.
1. I installed Flash player through a program called easyLiving, but when i play flash games online like on armorgames, everything will play fine, but sound will play about 2 seconds late with actions.
2. I can't play .wmv files from my MP3 player, I found some codes online and installed them, but now it just looks like I have 3 different audio players in mozilla and I'm not sure which kind to enable, and I still can't play .wmv movies. (I actually believe that problem 1 is unrelated, because I noticed it before I started downloading different audio players.)
So I was messing around trying to uninstall Nibbles and reinstall since I have an issue starting that game and something happened and removed the submenu under Games called "Logic", which had another whole list of games.
Is it possible to reinstall the games package or reinstall the update?I'm thinking more of the lines of a system restore or something so back 2 days from today.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Debian on an old iMac G3 power pc. I've just loaded a couple of games for my daughter but the music is staticky and the cursor flickers and goes invisible. Is there anyway to increase virtual memory or something that will make these game work??I know the hardware is old but one of the few(only thing) things it did well with the old OSX system was play games, so I know its not the hardware.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just made the switch from windows xp and i am very glad i did. One problem though, I cant get steam games to run right. I have steam installed on an external hard drive and can start it up with wine but whenever i try to run a game, the "starting (game name here)" screen comes up and then disappears and the game doesn't open. I've tried several different tutorials on how to run steam but all they do is tell how to install it.I'm running ubuntu 9.10 x64 if that helps at all.

View 4 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine gave me a few .iso games that will work just from the computer...not using a cd drive. I figured out how to do it in windows, it was pretty easy, but in ubuntu its not as easy. I got some tips on how to mount...and after some experimenting i got it to work. So i installed Morrowind thru Wine. And it starts the opening screen just fine (where you can pick "Play" "Options" etc.) But when i click play it gives me an error that it cant find a cd drive on my computer...because i use a netbook. why this is happening since i have it mounted. Also i am trying to use PlayOnLinux, since ive heard it is good at auto fixing problems that youd have to manually fix thru Wine, and id like to be able to run Morrowind thru that if possible.

Question: is there a gui anywhere that will do an auto install of the drivers i need for my vid card in linux? I am learning but OMG i dont want to screw this up. ive already had to dump this OS once because i made a mistake.
Like on games that use a Windows programing language only. Or one like Blockland. Or Portal/GMod(Steam)
