I select my location and 'Save' it, this damn thing continues to pop-up, either on the same Search, or when a new search is made.I hoped Adblock Plus would stop it but it doesn't detect it automatically and trying to do it manually doesn't work either.I was sure that there would be a plugin for this but there seems to be no mention of the problem in eBay-related plugins.Opera used to do this occasionally as well, so it's not confined to Firefox.
I am using KNetworkmanager-vpnc to VPN back to the office from home, the vpn connection works fine - for 15 minutes then I am disconnected. I am fairly certain that this is related to the Phase 1 key lifetime limit. The Knetworkmanager-vpnc GUI does not provide a location to enter this information. I think I found the config file that holds the connection information at /home/<user>/.kde/share/apps/networkmanagement/connections/ I just don't know the proper syntax to put in the file to specify a key life limit. Anyone out there know how to do this? I am using Fedora 14 x64 with knetworkmanager-vpnc 1.0.9-0.28.
i am trying to install googlesitemap generator in centOs but i got a problem /usr/sbin/apache2ctl is not a supported Apache binary or control script Do you want to enter a different location for the Apache binary or control script? [Y/n] i am getting this error.

I'd like to create by remote acces a popup on a desktop (my brother) to remind him for some things, even when I am far away and he's offline but I know his PC is running. I have ssh access to his PC anytime. So I just need to figure out how I can manage to get zenity to catch the ocrrect display or a usefull leightweight alternative which doesn't require any bigdeal setup.
I don't need to be advised if a printer job failed on my screen. I am sitting beside the printer. I know someone needs that feature but how do I turn it off. What software is responsible for putting a printer icon up and then giving me this output? And will that software accept a request to change the default behavior?
I have a strange issue w/ F11 and atheros 5212 wifi card using the standard ath5k driver. Every now and then (usually upon bootup but it will kick in every now and then, no rhyme or reason) I will get a kernel panic whereupon my wifi disconnects and I have to manually reconnect. The password screen will popup and I just hit OK and it reconnects. there also appears to be a dmesg line 'disassociated by local choice (reason=3)' in addition to the kernel panic. I've tried using ath9k instead (rmmod ath5k, modprobe ath9k) but that doesn't work at all, no wifi shows up in networkmanager. I also tried to find madwifi and kmod-madwifi via yum but those packages do not appear to be there for F11.
Succeeded in connecting to internet using my wll phone. I can now connect using 'wvdial' command in root terminal. But I want to connect through terminal. I tried 'sudo wvdial' command. Then I am asked for my password. But I cannot type my password there. When I type, nothing appears on the terminal window. Ofcourse there's no problem with my keyboard.
does anyone know a way to disable those annoying NM 0.7.1 popup balloons in F11 (KDE)? The ones that say that it is now connected to the wired eth0 network for example? I would really like to get rid of those ugly GTK notifications in KDE, but the NM GUI doesn't seem to have an option for this?!
I'm working with a program that uses Open Motif to create all of the widgets, including the Open File dialog box (obviously). However, Open Motif being kinda old-timey, 80's vintage, and for the most part now an abandoned project, it is quite clunky. So, actually what I need to do is to open some files located on my work server. I have already successfully connected to the relevant server directories with Samba, and with programs built with GTK+ (such as GIMP) I can open files across the network because I have created a bookmark in Nautilus, and those bookmarks appear in the Open File dialog box created by GTK+. Now, Open Motif is different: it doesn't see network locations, orNautilus shortcuts. When I type "smb://serveripyadayada" in the search folder, it really doesn't like it and complains. So, what do I do? Can I get somehow Open Motif to open a network location? Or can I do a run-around and place a shortcut in the file system that points to the network location?
I have been testing ubuntu 10.10 maverick, it has some nice features. Anyway I am missing the possibility of writing manually the folder you want to go on nautilus using the Location bar. It was used to have some kind of icon which you can click and it switched between graphich breadcrumbs or the location of the folder and you could changed it manually, you know what I mean?
I need a bit of clarification. I've been using Debian based OSes. I just want to make sure that I understand how to install software using Fedora.
While I had the Live DVD desktop running I downloaded the Google Chrome .rpm pack to the download file, right clicked on the .rpm and opened with the archive manager. The archive manager came up and showed me a file folder, the a popup came up on it's own and ask if I wanted to install, clicked yes and every thing from there worked, Chrome was installed and worked. When I tryied to download the plugin for Google and do the same as before, the install popup didn't come up. This is the part where I made a mistake, I went to the download folder and double clicked on the .rpm and the install popup came up, and I installed. This some how messed up the Live desktop to the point that I had to reboot, shut down didn't even work right.
I should have opened the folder the archive manager placed the .rpm and then double clicked on the .rpm to install instead of within the dowload folder.
I aslo read up on how to use rpm -i filename From the terminal can I Or does the .rpm package have to be in the correct folder before installing?
Also from the live dvd I tried using sudo rpm -i , but got a warning and said I would be reported.
When i try and log in with my user it is giving me an error I have removed gnome from the computer and put kde as my desktop I can login with root can't enter home directory using / is the error
I use ext4 for the lvm2 home partition on Fedora 11. Yesterday, I must shrink my home partition and the operation crashed. Then a new ext4 partition becomes a backup "cp -R /mnt/backup/* /home" + chown + chgrp and boot Fedora again.
The login failed and the message of Fedora is "Cannot enter home directory. Using /."
After that i have installed Windows Server 2008. My boot option has changed and now i am having no option to enter into my Fedora 12. How can i access my fedora 12
I've installed F14 to replace another distribution on my PC. I chose to use KDE. I used to have a separate partition for my user home to be mounted as /home. During the installation I instructed the installer to do so (without formatting of course). At the first boot I created a use with the very same name as I used to have. I got the warning about the home being already there and I said "yes, convert that ownership and selinux stuff so I can use that very directory as my home". At the graphical login I get a dialog saying I cannot enter my home and that it will use / instead. Of course the login process fails. If I switch to the character console (CTRL-ALT-F2) and do a login I actually get the very same error. But, if I hit "cd" (change directory to $HOME), then I get in the proper directory.
Update 1. I guessed it was a SELinux problem. And I manually disabled it into /etc/selinux/config. Now I'd like to fix this issue, because I'd like to have SELinux working.
I'm using the Readhat Linux Enterprise 5, and I encountered a problem about captured keyboard need your help. I log in after entering the required username and password using keyboard, but then the keyboard is captured, i.e., I can not enter anything using keyboard. Meanwhile the mouse works well all the time. I encountered this problem when I pressed some keys wrongly two days ago, but unfortunatelly I can not find out these exact keys I pressed.
I have a Fedora 11 box and I am confused about cron, where exactly do I enter the cron jobs? For example, I have a job that needs to run every half hour.
I have just upgraded my old CentOS system, but something goes wrong(1) I can not enter database to MySQL from web page, and I had a "add new contact info" available there before .(2) I want to install SugarCRM to my web page, but SugarCRM can't create database with the right username and password . Other thing is OK, I can get data from MySQL from web page. Here is the package I have : php-5.1.6-3.el4s1.10 mysql-5.0.82sp1-1.el4_8
Does it because that these two packages don't match each other?

What are they? Before they were not required to set up an internet connection(wired, I'm giving up on wireless for the moment) and now they are. I asked the lady at my isp and she didn't know. What should I enter in the blank for search domains?
Disappearance of ubuntu screen off and not being able to enter it. To solve this problem we have to we add to Menu List And through the opening of Fedora menu.lst

But the most important point that must do it is to decrease 1 of partition. In the sense that the partition (hd0, 3) becomes (hd0, 2).
I have installed Fedora11 onto my Dell laptop; as nice as it is whenever I log in I am prompted to "enter password for default keyring to unlock". Now, I don't recall ever setting one up, each password I try (e.g. the user or root) fails and gives me the prompt again. After a few clicks of "deny" it does go away but I want to know what it is and if I can stop it from prompting me).
Since Feb 12, I am unable to enter accented characters on any application. I have a Spanish (Latin American) keyboard, where I have to press the accent key and then the vowel I want to have an accent. What happens is this: I press the diacritic key, and then the vowel, but NOTHING appears. Exceptionally, Java apps (eg. Netbeans) show a square with a question mark inside: Something else is strange. Normally, if you press the accent key twice, the diacritic appears by itself, ie. (I copy-pasted that). So, this works for the following accents: But not for these: The letters show fine on my machine, eg. in Nautilus, in Firefox; I am just unable to type them. There were some updates done by yum on the day this started happening, but I have no idea if that's the cause of all this... I tried undoing the update transaction but it failed.
