I am used to using ubuntu but i feel that fedora is alot easier to use out of the box. I was able to install veetle on ubuntu by opening terminal and typing su -c 'sh /home/kevinnicola/Downloads/veetle-0.9.17-linux-install.sh'. But it doesnt work on fedora. It says its intalled sucessfully. But every time i try to watch a veetle stream it says i havnt got the latest version of veetle. Has anyone else got this to work?

I am familiar with basic Linux commands and the message I received when after downloading the tar file and extracting it was error while loading shared libraries: /root/firefox/libxul.so: cannot restore segment prot after reloc: Permission denied. I am having issues after upgrading the Scientific Linux 6 kernel from its current 2.6.x version to the latest version that SL6 has available. The issue is that once I install the upgrade and reboot, the internet becomes extremely laggy when scrolling on web pages, so much so that you get a ripple like effect as your scrolling. Which doesn't occur in the current kernel i am using.
Current Kernel is: 2.6.32-71.18.2.el6
New Kernel RPM update is: 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6
I wish I could figure out the problem but I am having trouble identifying what exactly the current kernel has that the new one doesn't that would cause the internet lag. I have read other topics with similar kernel update problems, but none have expressed an internet problem & only an internet problem from a kernel update.
Seamonkey 2.0.10 crashed in Fedora 14, but the 2.0.9 works fine, I install with tar ball, then run from konsole ./seamonkey. Why the latest version crashed?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have install windows XP and Fedora-14-X86_64 on dual boot, I want to run other OS on fedora by using Virtual machine. I have download and installed VirtaulBox-4.0.0 successfully but I cannot able to start it. I got error about Vbox driver not installed [error code:1908]. I have also installed DKMS package, but also didn't work.
Finally I found the actual problem was kernel not compatible with latest version of vbox and I need to update my kernel-headers. I also meet that solution by using command: yum install binutils gcc make patch libgomp glibc-headers glibc-devel kernel-headers kernel-devel and its work fine, this command download and install the kernel compatible VirtualBox-3.2.* and now its works fine.
But problem is that when I booting my PC, it shows 3 options for entering OS rather then 2.
1. Fedora-14 (2.6.35.10.74.X86_64) [which is new one/updated after using that command]
2. Fedora-14 (2.6.35.6.45fc14.X86_64) [which is new one/updated after using that command]
3. Other [windows XP]
How can i delete that old version- No.2?
In my F12 box,whenever I open ..... in firefox, it says either Java is disable OR install latest version of Adobe flash player. I checked in firefox prefrences menu and and there I see already Java / java-script checkbox in checked for enable and along with it I have the latest flash player installed as per the manual install suggested by the missing plugin notifier.
View 9 Replies View RelatedA month ago, my HP Mini 1035NR, with a Windows XP system died. Since then, it won't boot into Windows. I tried installing Ubuntu via a bootable USB with no luck. I have finally been able to create a working bootable USB running the Gnome version of Open Suse 11.3.
Aside from not picking up my ethernet connection to the Internet, my bigger issue is I can't install Open Suse from the USB. I get a message when I try to install that there may not be enough memory and it hangs at the section where you choose your time zone. I would like to install the latest version of Open Suse with KDE. Is there anything else I can do?
I have wine 1.0.1 , I don't know how to install the latest version ? should i remove the one I currently have?

This morning gkrellm updated from 2.3.4-1 to 2.3.5-2 and now the CPU temperatures aren't displayed. I've rerun sensors-detect and restarted module-init-tools, but the temperatures still don't display. If I run sensors from a terminal, the CPU core temperatures are displayed correctly. Has anyone else seen this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI attempted to install the latest version of Digikam, v1.6, by connecting the Factory repository , then an upgrade via YAST. It automagically included upgrade of certain kde4 packages to v2.5.80.
System ran OK for a while, then I got a Plasma Desktop Shell crash notice and now cannot restart X. I can boot to level 3. I upgraded all the kde components to 2.5.80, but that did not help.
Has anyone successfully done this? Was there a hidden secret to success?
If all else fails, am I correct that

I want to install latest version from DVD onto my second harddrive. I tried it myself yesterday but ended up with a bootloader I didn't want, and some alterations on my windows 7 disk. It took me a while to restore the windows bootloader and I don't want to do it again. how to proceed to install a fresh copy on opensuse/kde on my second harddrive without it touching my first (I can select bootdevice from bios function). Both are currently formatted as NTFS and the second (target) drive is empty.

The WEP, WPA-PSK connections and communications between my board with linux and my desktop PC, Windows XP SP2 (with Olitec USB wireless) are fine. But when I configured the WPA type, the connection seems established but shows the status "TKIP - Key Absent" in the security dialog box. Anyone faced this problem? Am attaching the conf files and the connection status. In the AP side am complaining . I am using the in built radius server conf with the hostapd 0.4.7

From what I can see it looks like I need to install Samba before I can share files between my Ubuntu 9.10 and Win7. I went to samba.org and they report the latest version of Samba as 3.4.6. When I searched for Samba in the Ubuntu software center, they report the Samba version as Version: 1.2.63-0ubuntu4 (system-config-samba).
Version 1.2.63 seems really old. Am I missing something? How can I install the latest version of Samba?

Usually when this happens there is an additional item in the grub menu. The last two times this has happened I didn't get an additional menu item. What is the latest stable version?
