I just updated my system a few hours ago, then turn off. Now I reboot the system and all the gnome-shell-extenstion-* installed from repo are disabled. What happens?
View 12 RepliesSince I do not like any of shell themes i downloaded, today I decided to remove user theme shell-extension.I removed it from the : Add/remove software, from menu.After logging out, and in, I keep getting : Gnome shell crashed, please log out.I have downloaded few shell themes from gnome look, and they all work.. But did not like them, always used default theme, so I decided to remove extension..
I removed "user theme" extension, but I did not delete "theme selector extension" from ~/.local/gnome-shell/ extensions.I just deleted it's folder from extensions, restarted, and I'm back in my Fedora.
How I can disable or modify the shadows, delayed menu, animations etc. in gnome 3 on Fedora 15 Beta? It can make or have lost some of our freedom?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI like using kopete, but I want to use it in GNOME. When doing so, I have 2 problems:
1) When I login to my computer, kopete starts up, and kde wallet asks fro my password for the wallet, in order for kopete to login to my accounts. This is very annoying. I find it inefficient to have to enter my password twice when turning on my computer.
2) Everytime a buddy signs on/off, a notification (or sometimes numerous notifications) run down the center of my screen and cover all my active windows.I want to disable knotify and kdewallet to alleviate these problems.
I had this problem also in F12, now in F13. Is there a fix for this? It's kind of annoying.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI did a clean install for ubuntu 11.04. Having seen the power of Gnome 3 (with Fedora) I installed it right away. Some minor problem arose and I had to deinstall accessibility themes and install the "standard" gnome themes. However there is one more problem and I've added a screen shot to show the problem. As you can see, the gnome desktop seems pretty cool but however the tweak tool doesn't show properly (empathy and other apps neither).
Besides the fact that the themes don't properly show in this screen I also get the error "User Theme extension not enabled" now I get the feeling these problems are related, but how do I fix it? I've searched everywhere but as far as I know I seem to be the only one with this problem. I would love to take the full advantage of a Gnome 3 desktop but this is getting to be a big "bump" in the road.

What I would like is for the notification icon to appear when an update is available but to not popup the notification message, or worse, show that dialog stating that some software sources were not available when I'm on the corporate network.
Also, is it possible to disable some updates like the recent KDE one? I right click it and there is an option to disable notification of an update but the menu item is disabled.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using Fedora 15 since its release (it was a fresh install) and have run the built-in updater three times; the third time being just earlier. In running it, about 113 updates were found, and afterwards, I rebooted. Unfortunately, GNOME 3 somehow broke as a result of that update (I didn't do anything else system-wise in the meantime), though I'm not sure what could have caused it.
After logging in, I see nothing except my desktop wallpaper. The top bar doesn't exist, and there are no workable elements... a wallpaper and nothing but. Thinking it might have been a user issue, I created a new user under Xfce and then logged into it, and I had the same thing. Default wallpaper but nothing else.
I am actually in the process of reviewing Fedora 15 (and GNOME 3) and was nearly done writing what I needed to before this happened, so I'd love to figure out a way to fix it rather than reinstall the entire OS since I have things set up to my liking and would hate to have everything undone.
If it helps, I did a yum groupremove of "GNOME Desktop Environment" and then a groupinstall of it again, but that didn't help it either. It did ironically remove both KDE and Xfce I had installed, however.
I'm running F13 on a HP laptop. I've been about 10 days with no internet connection. Yesterday I got internet again, and I did a package update.
After that, I rebooted and both top and bottom bars were gone from my Gnome desktop. I couldn't retrieve them anymore.
What can I do to get them back?
Just did an update to gnome-shell.x86_64 3.0.2-1.fc15 and now the shell extensions don't work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI updated last night and after a reboot I can get the GDM login but as my desktop loads it suddenly stops and complains of an error and won't load. If I load legacy Gnome desktop with Compiz it loads but ALL the lettering and words on the interface are messed up. By this I mean the letters are upside down and the words are spelt backwards. The mouse menus also work in reverse as in the menus themselves are also upside down and the highlighting moves from bottom to top as I move down the menu. Amusing but not what I want from my computer. There is nothing in /var/log/messages or /var/log/Xorg.0.log that would indicate anything is wrong.
I sooo don't want to have to rebuild, again, because of instabilities in F15 updates.
I'm not sure if this is a feature of Gnome, compviz, or some other part of Fedora, but whenever I place my mouse in the upper right corner of the desktop, all of my open windows zoom out to a Mac-like Expose feature which allows me to select which window I'd like to change focus to. Does anyone know how to disable this feature? I actually find it highly annoying, as I tend to place the mouse in that region either on accident or unintentionally, especially when accessing my machine remotely via VNC. I've had a lot of trouble googling for combinations of "Gnome expose" and "Gnome desktop expose", I have a feeling I am calling this feature by the wrong name. how to do this myself - install the Compiz Configuration Settings Manager (the package name is "ccsm") and disable the "Scale" plugin.
I have been running Fedora Core 6 for about a year and a half with no problems. But now here is one that has me stumped. When I boot the system (IBM T30 laptop) and log in with my user name every thing works iike it should. I get my desk top and tool bars. If I click on my tool bar and open a terminal session (xterm according to echo $TERM ) the t key does not work. I have tried to open a VI editior session and the t key still does not work. However if I open any other application, (text processor, web browser, spread sheet, etc.) the t key now works. Also if I log out of the system and log in as root the t key now works in a terminal sessiion. I have tried to find my .profile file to find out if a key binding has gone bonkers but no luck.
View 4 Replies View RelatedApplied several updates last night including a 2.6.30.5-43 kernel and a suggest kmod-nvidia but the 5-43 kernel boots to a wallpaper gnome screen the first time.
Booted to the "fallback" 2.6.29....17 kernel and it worked fine.
Then 2.6.30.5.-43 also booted but without nvidia.
Installing akmod-nvidia as sugggested in other posts. Also see a kmod for this kernel.
The gnome-settings daemon was updated today on my Fedora 11 machine and it's now performing all kinds of interesting activities. It's using my CPU a ton. And it's generating lots of network traffic. This appears to be a massive bug of some sort. Anyone know any more details? I haven't found anything yet.

2.26.1-10 appears to be the culprit.
After I had upgraded the system to Fedora 14, the icons for pretty much everything except for programs and plain text files in gnome theme (and every other theme that shares them) became inaccessible - they are replaced by a standard icon that appears when no other is found. Other themes, that share no icon with gnome (tango, gnome-colors, etc.), work correctly. I'm using Xfce desktop.
I've deleted icon-theme.cache, but it did nothing.
Any suggestions, what may be causing this?
I am using Fedora 11 and I was curios if it is posible to update gnome to a newer version without upgrading Fedora.
