How can i change the system icon for maya? Because i now have a default window icon for maya and I want to change that for a custom icon.It does not work changing the desktop icon or menu icon or launcher icon because it's not connected with the system icon
I just downloaded a 30 day trial of RH enterprise 5 for desktop. I need to test and get Maya 2008 x64 working on it before I pay for ongoing support, but each time I try and run it I get a libXp.so.6 is missing error. I've spent hours researching this error, and that file does not exist, and if I install the 32 bit version, it gives me a ELF error. I don't know what else to try, do I need to just use a different distro?
When I try to run Maya 2009 the Konsole shows me this error:
$ sh /usr/autodesk/maya2009-x64/bin/maya2009 /usr/autodesk/maya2009-x64/bin/maya2009: line 23: syntax error near unexpected token `"$OSname"' /usr/autodesk/maya2009-x64/bin/maya2009: line 23: `switch ("$OSname")'
I had Maya 2009 running on this computer in Ubuntu before I switched Distros
I have installed my Nvidia driver and tcsh. I have updated everything using yum and have completely disabled SElinux and I am now at a complete loss.
i ve just installed maya 2011 and for some when i run maya it returns the following error:/usr/autodesk/maya2011-x64/bin/maya.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libiomp5.so: cannot enable executable stack as shared object requires: Permission denied
I'm running Maya 2009 64 bits on Fedora 13 64 bits in GNOME Desktop and it's run perfectly, but the thing I cannot believe is the openmotif UI. I can't believe that a software like Maya on this gorgeous OS looks like a '90 MS-DOS program. Is there anything we can do from GNOME/Linux to change this? or this is a Autodesk lazy programmer that cannot rewrite their UI in at least GTK.
When you install Firefox for example, it also installs it's icons on my machine.
But let's say I want to change the Firefox icon from the default one to this one: [URL]... I would assume that all I need to do is find where the default Firefox icon is stored, delete it (or move it elsewhere), and replace it by the new one. But where does Ubuntu store the default icons for Firefox?
Since upgrading last week we keep getting a red icon warning msg for the ABRT system - it's not really something we want to have activated - is there any way to turn it off ?
I'm slowly getting used to Gnome 3 and trying to give it a chance. After a few oddities (like it swallowing my Gnome Shell and Tilda invocations because I use Super in them) then I think I'm slowly getting used to it. There are still some things I miss from Compiz, but it has potential and I like some bits (the notifications and dialogs).I don't know what got upgraded, but my themes seemed to be working before yet today I've got the default Sonar rather than my darker Sonar theme with a fixed Chromium style. I've managed to change the titlebar theme, but I can't change the GTK theme or the icon theme.
Running "gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme" reports "Tango-green", but I still have the default icon theme and using Appearances only partially works.Running "gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme" reports "SonarLighter" (the menu bar is lighter to match the Uniq theme) but I'm definitely seeing Sonar.I've tried gnome-tweak-tool from someone's OBS, but various dependencies seem to be missing (first it bails with the wrong GI version, then I updated some other bits and tried again, but even after switching a dozen or more packages then it never started).
I know how to install icons but i do not want to do it that way because almost all of the icons pack out there are incomplete leaving some of my programs with no icons if i install it.
Now i want to use ubuntu icon but i just want to change the icons of the folders only. Can anybody direct me to the folder where the default ubuntu "Humanity" icons are stored?
I only want to replace the humanity folder with the new folder icon which i found.
i have been trying to change the menu logo icon with the ubuntutweak option.. after i load the 24x24 png image the panel reloads but the image doesnt change... how do i change it? now the menu icon doesnt open the menu at first click, i have to click on it a couple of times and then it opens
I created a custom launcher for 2 wine programs on my desktop and dragged them to my launcher to add them. They were both using the default cup of wine icon. The first one kept this icon, the second one changed to the default custom launcher icon for gnome. I have since changed them to the games real icons but they aren't changing in the launcher even after removing and re-adding it to the launcher. So 2 things are happening here, it seems the launcher is unable to use the same icon multiple times, and the launcher is "remembering" the icon's somewhere separatly from what the custom launcher is saying the icon should be.
I am using F14 Xfce and i have installed awn so i do not need my desktop icons anymore, ie home, bin and file system, is there any way to delete/remove them? i have installed gconf-editor and unchecked them in apps-->nautilus-->desktop, but they are still there?
I tried to place a mono icon in usr/icons/etc but I didn't have the permission to do so. I tried to change my user profile to Admin, thinking I could go back to custom, but that hasn't and it isn't allowing me to go back to my previous setting.
Within minutes of being an Admin user I noticed I couldn't even unmount something. I really need to figure out how to change my profile back to default.
After that has been dealt with, I would like some guidance on how to gain root access to put my icon where it needs to be.
Recently updated to 10.10 Wondering if it's possible to change the start icon on the gnome panel? In the past I have been able to accomplish this by navigating to the theme's icon folder (usr/share/icons), replacing it with my new icon, updating the cache and restarting gnome. That method doesn't seem to be working however.
I am running Debian Jessie with Gnome 3.14.2 on a Macbook Pro 15" with retina display. My resolution is currently set to 2880:1800 and any time I try to lower it, the whole screen goes to black (even if I change it to something in the 16:10 ratio) and I just have to keep force restarting when doing that. I want to lower it because a lot of stuff is really small. Certain aspects of windows in programs are so small, and in order to properly view stuff on my web browser I have to increase the magnification to around 250% for it to be reasonable.
Some things seem normally sized in the windows, and thus make things awkward on the screen, especially in chrome. Is there a way to fix this without having to change my resolution and/or font sizes? Making font sizes bigger on the gnome tweak tool makes things look a bit more awkward because it squeezes the text into small spaces. I would rather keep a higher resolution for a better picture, and changing it seems to mess things up. Here is what my browser looks like (without magnifying). Notice how the font size in the bookmark bar is disproportionately large compared to the buttons in the top right to close/max/min the window.
And this problem isn't just in the browser, but for example, in matlab everything is extremely tiny. I want to make everything larger, not just the text...
On a MacBook Pro (Core Duo, 2.16, ATI X1600, 2006), I have the latest ATI fglrx drivers (Catalyst 9.3) installed under Ubuntu 8.04. It all seems to be good. However my OpenGL performance is really messy. I get all kind of refresh problems (black areas, broken GUIs etc.) while working in Maya 2008. I think I need to edit my xorg file? And chnage something realted to something called "compiz"?
after a fresh installation of the English version (Live CD installer) of Fedora 12 (Gnome) I would like to set the default system language to German. But I would like to have the whole Gnome desktop in German. What is the recommended place in Fedora to set this? /etc/profile or are there any Fedora specific configuration files for this purpose?Btw, the GDM login screen doesn't provide the German language as a choice. Do I miss a package? I already browsed the DE packages for localization packages I did not install but it seems there is no one missing.
Is anyone else seeing the default icon in GNOME Shell instead of the usual Firefox icon? I am talking about the default icon that looks like a purple diamond.
It always shows a same icon, for every application which shows message tray icon. I just did some shell extension work after fresh installation of F15, nothing related on message tray. Don't know how to change it back.Dose anyone knows how to customize message tray icon for gnome-shell?
I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise and noticed something new. The system icon for battery life is showing "plugged in, not charging." Does this oddity occur in Fedora too?
using suse 11.3 and kde 4.4.4 on the mounted fat32 partition I cannot change icons partition is mounted in fstab in this way:/dev/sda8/ /dati vfat user, users, gid=users, umask=0002, utf8=true, 0, 0.I can create files folders modify, move and save them on the partition but if I try to change the icon (in dolphin right click>properties>click on icon) of the /eros folder (or any other folder or link) system gives me this error:impossibile salvare le proprieta' , non hai accesso sufficiente per scrivere su /dati/eros/.directory tha in english is something like this: impossoble save properties, you havent enough permission access to write on /dati/eros/.directory this happen also as superuser I remember that with suse 11.0 or 10.3 I was able to change icons on fat32 partitions, now with 11.3 I cannot, there ought to be a way to do what I did with the previous version with this 11.3 brand new ad more advanced version shouldn't it?

I tried to get to the logs and then realized that the entre system had been hijacked the remote desktop icon was active there was a message in gnote saying "youve been own3d". The system Is a old mac mini PPC system and i plan on looking at the system log with a netboot cd by running linux rescue at boot. my question is how do i gain access to the system log from a rescue cd to find out how much damage this hacker did?
Any recommendations for changing or updating the system sounds in Ubuntu? Seriously, love the distro but absolutely cannot stand the stinkin' bongos that go off every time the system boots or I log in.I've tried changing them and have some of the sounds updated in 10.04, but, can't seem to get them all.
fresh install Ubuntu 10.04 x86Compaq Presario sr1123wmno visual effects System run great other than crashing when ever i try to change desktop image. Not sure witch log file to look at for errors.
I am having a problem with servers that have been set up using the dollar $ symbol as the system currency setting and I need to change this to the South African rand 'R' symbol. I only have remote access to the systems via ssh (putty) and I have this issue on both a RHEL5 and OpenSuSE 11.? machine so I am looking for a generic solution. Is there a configuration file, command or command line tool I can use/ change to change this setting.
Is anyone else getting a non-transparent icon in the system tray when TrueCrypt 6.3a loads on Ubuntu 10.04 with the default theme? Annoying white bars on the top and bottom of the icon. This didn't occur with the same version of TrueCrypt on previous versions of Ubuntu. Any way to resolve it? It looks out of place...
I'm completely new to Linux. I'm having the hardest time trying to do the simplest things. I'm using Kopete and I was wondering if I can put the icon on the system taskbar by the clock? I can't drag it there, won't work. I also tried to right click the taskbar and open 'add new items' but Kepete doesn't show on the list.
