iceweasel: upgrading from jessie makes all passwords in the password manager invalid.
The reporter noted this problem when he upgraded from version 37 to 38.causes listbug to block an update from iceweasel 38.01-2 bpo to iceweasel 39 (from wheezy-backports).
I've upgraded from stable to testing.In stable, iceweasel performed flawlessly as I expected. Now it crashes at random times at an alarming rate.It does seem that I can recreate the crash to an extent on ....., where crashes are the most prevalent.I haven't located any bug reports regarding this issue with wheezy iceweasel.
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo the other day I installed Debian Wheezy on my Sun Blade 150. While the OS is installed fine, all the webkit based browsers continuously crash after a few pages. So, I tried to download IceWeasel since it wasn't installed when I tried installing Debain off the DVD. The only problem is, it won't install as the Xulrunner version it requests is xulrunner-24.0_24.5.0esr-1~deb7u1_sparc, however the only version available on the repositories is newer. Is there any way to get the older xulrunner version, or is there going to be a fix for IceWeasel soon on Sparc?

For last week this persistent problem.Only way around is boot up and do manual update before notification kicks.As I type the update manager is sitting there doing nothing. Another reboot needed.

After the latest update of Debian Wheezy, about three days ago, one of my machines won't boot anymore. The update was done by:

apt-get update
apt-get -y upgrade
apt-get -y autoremove
I get the error message: "Alert! /dev/disk/by-uuid/71c... does not exist. Dropping to a shell!"
The dir /dev/disk contains only "by-id" and "by-path".
I booted with the rescue system, dropped into a shell and recreated the ramdisk with

But without success. On another machine the update went flawlessly.
After the updating the synaptics driver in wheezy, I can no longer tap to click. This includes single-finger taps in the center and corners. Here is the relevant section from my xorg.conf

I decided to update all the software on my computer. Fortunately, it upgraded kernel version 3.14 to 3.16. I was happy to learn that suspend now worked on my laptop by calling pm-suspend, but it did not worked by closing the lid. So I search and found on debian's website that installing systemd and adding some config lines in /etc/systemd/logind.conf would sove the issue. So I followed the procedure and did like instructed, to end up with a computer that boots on black screen.
The last verbrose line I see on boot up is "kvm disabled by bios" and then it shutdown down the screen. The computer works, as I can login and shutdown by doing those operation blindly.
I tried removing systemd but it still does not work. If I use the old kernel 3.14 I can boot without any problem, but if I use kernel 3.16, I boot to a black screen. I remember successfully booting in 3.16 before installing systemd.
The update that broke things contained some 400 packages.The problem is NOT hardware related. There are 2 other linux installs on the laptop that work the way they should.This is all related to using a wired network connection.The update removed the package network-config and did not replace it. Not sure that is the problem because that package is related to the gui and I can not get an ip in cli.
I am stuck at cli because the new kernel broke nvidia (pretty normal). There was also a new xserver, which tends to break nvidia, and as I recall a new kde. Anyway I am unable to rebuild the nvidia driver because I can not establish a network connection to my network to get the packages needed to fix it.
When I download a file, lets say text file I want it to open straight away in iceweseal.So in the "open With" dialog box if I choose iceweseal it is not opening the file in it. It just downloads the text file.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using my netbook with Squeeze when I travel. I recently started getting a msg "Network discovery service has been disabled" or something to that effect. And many websites have been blocked as well. I discovered that I could remove avahi-daemon to fix it and I have done so. Unfortunately, the websites are still blocked even though I no longer get the msg. I could not even post this msg here with Linux and had to boot with Windows to do it. It is a shame. Can someone please tell me how to unblock those websites.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just installed Debian on a new computer yesterday, it's more or less a fresh install. This morning I launched Iceweasel and it brought my computer to it's knees. I ran top, and found out that there was a process called "Web Content" using up 30 gigs of memory! Further experimentation shows that Iceweasel is fine until I open up a tab or two, and then it quickly begins consuming all my memory (I have 24 gigs) and swap space. I'm currently using Chrome, which is working fine, but I'd really prefer Iceweasel.

View 14 Replies View RelatedA few days ago, I noticed that flash wasn't working. I don't use flash often and have Flashblock guarding the gates so not quite sure when that happened. In the process of getting it running again I noticed a lot of Iceweasel add-ons are available in the Debian repos. In fact, deleting Flashblock from Firefox and switching to the one from the repos may be what fixed the problem (or it could have been the latest Iceweasel update which I reinstalled).
Anyway, my question is . . . just how do add-ons available via Synaptic and those from Firefox differ? And is it preferable and advisable to use the ones in Synaptic? Since I imported my old profile from Firefox to Iceweasel, I have a lot of standard add-ons rather than the Debian version.
I've got a matrox m9120 installed at 1280x1024 60hz but its really slow. You see the screen building up in blocks. And that's just in the standard screen. I don't run special software. Any tricks how to improve?

And when burned and booted with DEBCONF_PRIORITY=low cant load all of the addiotinal installer components, and wont retry. Is the debian cd supposted to be like that or is that a problem with it, i tried burning it twice and it had errors loading installer components both times when i booted them. Are my cds just the problem?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Inceweasel 31.8.0 installed on LXDE Debian Wheezy and I am trying to make AdBlock Plus work. The thing is that I get pop-ups from any site, Youtube ad videos, etc. all the time, just like I have nothing installed to prevent that.
I tried:
- Installing AdBlock from Iceweasel add-ons, with a suscription to easylist ;
- installing xul-ext-adblock-plus (also with the same suscription).
With each configuration or even with none of them, I get the same results as described above. Is there anything I can do ?
By the way, I don't get Youtube ad videos on Chromium with Adblock installed through the Chrome webstore.
I have Iceweasel 38.6.0 on Jessie 8.3, and it seems to crash more or less randomly. It just suddenly disappears, and when restarted, it gives that "embarrasing"- thing. The pages reopen fine and it may take a day between crashes, or about an hour.
Where should I look for the reason of the crashing? Is there a log file or something somewhere?
My machine is old StinkBad T400. I'm using Cinnamon.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter installing 3.5.6 from backports, applets stopped working. I installed the java-6-sun package but it's still not making it. Searched google but haven't found anything but some bug fixes. Also saw something about ipv6, but not sure if that's related. That seemed to affect java programs. I use jedit and that is working fine. I downloaded the latest SDK from Sun and created a link from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins and /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins to /opt/SDK/jdk/jre/plugin/i386/ns7-gcc29/libjavaplugin_oji.so. Prior to the update to 3.5.6, the plugins were working and I could get the ..... stuff etc.

In ubuntu its called kmozillahelper. There was similar packages in Debian (called differently as far as I remember). I happily used it in unstable, but several weeks ago it disappeared for some reason and I can not find it.info on iceweasel + KDE integration in Debian?
