How the Debian repository secures its keys against malicious access? Obviously, any security lapse would be concerning because it could allow an attacker to gain access to the repository's keys, allowing them to sign trojaned binaries. Are any extra security measures? Are the keys stored in a hardware security module or a keycard, for example?
View 14 RepliesI'm using Fedora 14. I used pre-upgrade from Fedora 12. I'm using KDE and the nvidia driver.
My problem has to do with the mouse. Basically, only mouse clicks on one window at a time are being handled. If I have Chrome and Thunderbird both open then the mouse will behave normally on Chrome but clicking anywhere on Thunderbird will have no effect. By clicking I mean both left and right mouse button.
To get clicking on Thunderbird to work I have to right-click anywhere on the active window (Chrome in this case), then right-click on the window I want to be active next (Thunderbird). This will allow me to use Thunderbird normally but then Chrome becomes inactive. Typing works even if the window is inactive if the cursor is on the window.
I've found that if I log out and then log back in, the problem disappears. I also tried creating a new user and logging in with that user but the problem still persisted.
Can I assume that Audible ( aa files ) cannot be handled by Linux in any way?I have paid and downloaded some audiobooks from Download Audio Books, iPod And Digital Audio Books | Downloadable Online Audio Books | Audible Audiobooks | Audible.com and I cannot find any way to get them on to my ipod.I've tried Wine with Itunes but that doesn't work and one or two other 'windoze' progs to convert to mp3 but non of them work.

screen -x lftp -X hardcopy /dev/fd/1
screen -x lftp -X hardcopy /dev/stdout
It works if I use a regular file instead, so why doesn't it print to stdout when I use /dev/fd/1? I do this with other applications don't have an option to write to stdout and it works, so what does GNU/Screen do that makes it not work?
I was wondering, what if you had a flash drive formatted with an FS that has UNIX permissions. Then what if you copied some of your files onto it. And then put it into another computer that has a user account by the same name. WIll the user be able to access the files?What if you named your own user differently on the other computer, will you be able to get your files?

So for this purpose I am leaving the IPTables on .150 empty. At a point in time, I want to forward all incoming traffic to be served by .160 instead. I have accomplished this using these commands (on .150):
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -j DNAT --to 192.168.1.160
iptables -t nat -I POSTROUTING -j MASQUERADE
My problem is that if I have an open SSH connection to .150 (prior to adding the rules), the packets are still handled by .150 after adding the rules.. e.g. my SSH session stays active. I want these packets to be forwarded to .160, which would effectively disconnect the SSH session. I do not want the packets flat out dropped, I just want them forwarded on in whatever state they are in. If I try a new SSH session, it is properly forwarded to .160
I have a mercurial repository on a secure server, to which I want to grant secure access to an external user.
I added for him a user account and publickey ssh authentication so that now he could push/pull changesets via ssh.
My question is: how can I make this new user account completely disabled from doing anything or accessing any data on the server other than accessing the repository? E.g. he shouldn't even have the possibility to enter an interactive shell session.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use ubuntu 9.04 and up until this week I could burn CDs using Brasero disc burner without incident. I have partially fixed the problem. I can now use brasero to burn data discs that have wave files for the songs, but when I try to make a audio disc I get this: "Track 1.wav" could not be handled by Gstreamer. I use synaptic and installed some more libs, but to no avail. Should I just install everything in Synaptic for Gstreamer?

I have done a yum clean all , which didnt really help either. reinstalling the rpmfusion repos isnt an option either as I start getting curl errors in the terminal. View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I recently moved from Ubuntu 10.04 to Debian (I'm tired of Ubuntu assuming everything I want). As much as I like how Debian doesn't result in me uninstalling several hundred MB of packages, it also doesn't have the latest stuff.I'm using sid AND experimental repositories and neither of them let me use the later KDEs. I want the new KDE, its significantly better but I have no idea how to get it with Debian's repos.Also, how am I supposed to install the nvidia drivers in synaptic? I had to download them from nvidia's website and log out into a command line. To make matters more confusing, it asked for gcc 4.4 but I do have that (as well as all other c++ 4.4 related packages). I can ignore the gcc warning and it installs just fine anyway. I can deal with installing the drivers from the command line but its REALLY annoying when you have to do that after every kernel update, so i'd rather have the package manager do it for me.I am so far very unimpressed with the way Debian is maintained. Its missing many packages ubuntu came with too. I have other problems as well but I've managed to fix them or I'll work on them more later.
