I sent some emails to one of our client and the email is in my sent emails box but when I contacted her she says she has't received it. I checked the server using Webmin there is a red exclamation mark next to the email.What red exclamation mark means and how can I get rid of it?

Ubuntu :: Can't Type An Exclamation Mark
Jul 6, 2010I can't type an exclamation mark with my keyboard. I can type other symbols that require the shift key (~ @ # $, etc) but Shift + 1 does not give an exclamation point. Here's the intriguing part: following a tip from another thread, I changed my Visual Effects setting (System > Preferences > Appearance > Visual Effects tab) from the default "Normal" to the setting "None". Immediately after doing this, I was able to type exclamation points. Problem solved, right?
experiment to make sure the Visual Effects setting was really the culprit. So I flipped my Visual Effects back to the default "Normal", and sure enough, I stopped being able to type exclamation marks. Having verified the (apparent) cause of the issue, I tried my solution of changing the Visual Effects to "None". Of course the "solution" didn't work this time (so much for my great idea) and I am left unable to type an exclamation point.
I have concluded that the fault must lie within my user's configuration (I can type as many exclamations as I want when logged in as other users).

Oct 21, 2010I got a NetGear wireless router recently. Attached it to my Huawei (pardon the spelling) modem. I have a HP 540 laptop running Ubuntu 10.04 The wireless gets connected. But there's an exclamation mark almost all the time. Very frequently these days, the connection gets bogged down or websites just don't open at all. But the icon (with the exclamation mark) shows Active Connection. I don't know where to start looking for bugs. Seems odd. Wireless is connected, I can connect to sites, but there's the exclamation.. and sooner or later, connection goes off but the icon still stays the same with "active" label.

Jul 21, 2010There's an exclamation point next to my wireless icon up at the top which concerns me. I've just installed Ubuntu 10.04 yesterday - absolutely love it. The only problem is that I'm having trouble with staying connected to my wireless network... When it is connected, there is an exclamation point next to the wireless icon.
I have Broadband internet, Belkin N Wireless router, and an Acer Aspire 5741 with the wireless device built into the laptop. This normally runs fine with Windows 7, but it doesn't automatically connect with Ubuntu 10.04...

Mar 1, 2010When I'm not connected with the LAN, I have no problem, but when I'm connected the PC frozen in the first boot. Maybe is something related with Firefox, or some specific site (I think gmail). I have many tabs opened, then when I start Firefox they all opened. The first thing I do is read my emails, so I access gmail.
I'm not sure if it is related with Firefox or Gmail. I'll do some tests, like:
1- start the PC and don't use Firefox in the first minutes.
2- start Firefox and don't access gmail
What I think it is interesting is that it only happens once. Well, this is a good thing. There's also an exclamation sign in the Ubuntu tool bar saying "Crashing report detected"

Jul 13, 2009For my research I have some very large files that are basically millions of lines of ten columns of numbers. These files can be up to 5 GB in size. Recently I noticed that when I made a copy of one of my files, some exclamation points appeared in it where there should not be any: in front of random numbers throughout the file. Making another copy of the file would result in exclamation points in front of different numbers in different parts of the file. Doing this many times has given me up to four exclamation points in different parts of the file. Sometimes the file copies just fine without producing any extraneous exclamation points.Additionally, I have occasionally seen a "^K" where there should be a newline (the data that should have been on the next line was instead on the previous line with a ^K in front of it) in copies that I have made of my files. I don't know if this is related or not.

Jun 28, 2011I have a linux desktop with two connections - fast eth0 and slow modem ppp0. Most of traffic (e-mail, DNS, NTP) can be routed simply by IP/mask. But how about http and p2p (torrents, DC++)? Routing by IP is unacceptable, because there is very huge amount of routing rules. I need route http packets (80 port) through ppp0, p2p through eth0 (10000:65535 ports). I've found that splitting traffic by port is possible with marking packets for different gateways. For begin I cleared all tables and bringed up connections.

Jan 23, 2010I have a setup samba and want to get the correct security permissions when my wife creates / copies files from her camera onto the shared/mapped drive on her new laptop (windows 7) I want the permissions set to 770 or maybe 760. See my config below.
Now I can get it to create 760 but even if I change the mask it still generates the same permissions. After every change I restart the samba service. the umask is still 0022, do not know if that makes a difference? The directory permission's are correct with this mask. Do I need to look at groups?

So the dropped file have execution rights for the group, and read access for other. I expected it to have the same rights than the file created directly using the touch command. I tried to play with the mask options, without success. The file has been dropped from my mac, which is a Unix like OS. I guess that some authorization access are inherited from the original file, for the user and other parts. But where does the group authorization come from ? Moreover, is is possible to define in samba a default mask, whatever the authorization of the original file?

Oct 27, 2010I am trying to figure out how to mask local timer interrupts on a specific core of a multicore system from within user space. The interrupts are causing latency spikes of 3-10u that we would like to remove. We are only running 1 thread on the core h everything shielded except for these timer interrupts. This thread makes no system calls and thus is never getting context switched out. I am not looking to turn them off entirely but rather turn them off, run my code, turn them on in a continuous loop. The thread runs in user space which we are hoping to maintain. We also have no desire to modify the kernel if possible. I've read about using spinlock_irqsave() but it appears (not positive) that it must be used within kernel space.

Debian :: Can't Definitely Mark Mails As Spam
Nov 17, 2015I use Debian Jessie + KMail on desktop side. My mail server has Spamassassin installed. My problem is that I receive some spam and it goes though the server-side filtering.
I mark all messages as SPAM in KMail but neither KMail or the server learn that those are spam and should not enter the inbox.
How to get rid of the messages? Unsubscribing is not an option - I don't want to click on any link contained in the mails.
Debian :: Could Not Mark All Packages For Installation
Sep 7, 2011HW:ACER ASPIRE 4920G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 XT. I installed debian sid from latest daily testing businesscard the day before yesterday. I did a fresh install,I select LXDE for desktop and checked standard & desktop packages while installing. I got a complete blank screen with broken color when I restart pc while I finished installing. I did a web search and add radeonhd.nomodeset=0 to grub and I run into LXDE. But I still get a problem. I tried to install gnash & gnash-common. I got E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
