May 3, 2009I've been trying to compile a small program on my 64bit Centos 5.3 but I need to compile it in 32bit mode. I've tried editing the make file and changing CC=gcc to CC='gcc -m32" and that doesn't work. I have also tried to use "make CC='gcc -m32' and that doesn't work either. It wont compile. Do I need to install something with yum to get 32bit compiler to work?

Aug 15, 2009Can anyone get the website below to work correctly with Firefox 3.5 and F11 64bit?[URL]...All I see is the background scrolling slowly and jerkily, none of the buttons at the bottom work. Reboot into Windows 7 and IE8: the same site is fast, smooth, the buttons work and the product details appear correctly in the centre of the screen.
I've tried disabling all adblock /pop up block options, ensured all javascript options are enabled and no change. Could this be a problem with the 64 bit flash player (installed from leigh's sticky thread) or a problem with OpenJDK?

I've switched to 32 bit Adobe flash, tried Autoten for AIR and Dangermouse's advice for iPlayer: url.html but it's not working, and trying to install AIR from url results in an endless busy downloading graphic .
I assume my problem is a lack of required packages, though I searched the repositories using YUM extender for the packages listed here: url.html and can't see them either as installed or available.

installation media: downloaded dvd image burned the image installed correctly inside vmware and work as expected but the media boot to the first screen quistion and when press ok for new installatin the answer is a serious of errors messages (a lot of it). did my hardware not compatible??

Mar 9, 2011I recently got a hosted CentOS 5.5 box at a server farm to run a small ftp server for me.
They preloaded the image and installed a .86_64 build of 5.5, and I've only been familiar with i386.
I didn't think there'd be much of an issue from this, but I've gone thru all the normal steps to install and configure VSFTPD, however nothing is working.
I'm running CentOS release 5.5 (Final)
and I've gotten VSFTPD build 2.0.5 release 16.e15_5.1 installed from both yum and rpm (at separate times) and I've also tried grabbing the tar ball of 2.3.2 and 2.3.4, but run into dependency issues when compiling the code using GCC (it wasnt installed the first time).
i've started and made vsftpd persistent using service vsftpd start, chkconfig vsftpd on, and i restart the service after any changes to the conf file.
I'm trying to run the following settings. in /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf

Apr 25, 2011I have a CentOS 5.5 system that I am able to run fully virtualized 32-bit VM's on just fine, but I have need to run some 64-bit VM's on it. It has a "paravirtualized" option that might possibly work, but it wants a network install path, and I am not sure if this is the actual solution. When I go to create the VM I only have i686 and xen for options on the virtualized method, is there a way to add (I am presuming) amd64 in here somehow? The CPU is definitely 64-bit. My google-fu hasn't found results for me yet.

Jul 19, 2009I'm not sure why, but over the last couple of days when I browse the web with my Centos 5.3 machine running firefox 3.0.5, it takes a very long time to load web pages. Loading the app itself is pretty quick, and I have not issues with system resources (it's an HP Proliant ML115 server, with dual opteron processors & 3Gb RAM). Looking at CPU & disk useage there's nothing out of the ordinary:

CentOS 5 Networking :: Works In 32bit But Not 64bit
Oct 7, 2010(Second Try) I installed CentOS 5.5 from CDs 32 bit, everything works fine. I then re-install, but this time 64 bit, everything else is the same, I use all of the same options. This time though it sees the network card, and allows me to configure it and activate it. It will not connect outside of it's self, IE it can ping it's self, but nothing else. Go back to 32 bit, and zero problems, try 64 again, no network. Each time I do full installs with partition formatting etc. In case it makes hill-o-beans difference, Intel P4, 2.66 Ghz. 2.0 GB RAM MSi Motherboard.
