when i was downloading for more than 5 hrs. of ubuntu netbook direct in my dell inspiron 1525 ...after installing ubuntu in my laptop dell 1525..when i uninstall it..the message appeared like this

i heard about Ubuntu and i got really excited, so i just downloaded the thing and started the install! Everyone was like yeah its the best and shiz so i decided to get rid of my vista partitions and fully install Ubuntu.
Now, I have LOTS of problems with ubuntu, and im not really the person that has the patience to install alot of programs to make things work.
So i was like lets just reinstall my vista?
I insert my backup disc (acer laptop) which normally goes like automatic, but now it doesn't..
I think it has to do with the fact ubuntu isn't the normal partition for it, and so the disc wont regognise it ...
how to delete ubuntu and get my vista installed again?
I have a vista laptop with ubuntu installed in a partition. Obviously it installed GRUB for dual boot purposes. Now I would like to remove Ubuntu and GRUB as I intend to install Kubuntu/Mint at a later date. I understand I have to fix the master boot first and then remove ubuntu. I do not have Vista recovery CD as the it has been bundled with the system by Toshiba.

But when I did that I assumed that ubuntu would get included in my "wiping". But of course...it's still there. Now that odd ubuntu uninstall option which was actually for some strange odd reason in the vista/control panel/uninstall options is no longer available. So how to uninstall ubuntu? Do I just delete i and insert the vista cd to recover the boot? Is that correct?

I really like it now but at first I just dual-booted it, and now I want Vista gone. I know it's unnecessary to have just one OS but my hard-drive isn't particularly big and I'd prefer to have Ubuntu by itself. The problem is when i try to install fedora 11 on my laptop, it wipes out my windows vista installation. I want to keep vista. I have a sony vaio laptop model VGN-FW340D. 4GB RAM and 400 GB HD. i first shrink my hard drive to free up around 100 GB. Then i run fedora 11 DVD and let it make the partitions on my free space.. I have tried everything.. I chose use free space the first time, but i didnt work, it wiped out my vista, next time i chose custom layout and defined boot, root and swap partitions , but again it wiped out my vista.. I have read many guides to dual boot vista and fedora and have carried them out step by step, but nothing works.... Also i dont have vista installation DVD, i just have the recovery CDs, so everytime it wipes out my vista, i have to do system recovery, ive been trying for a week now, and its driving me crazy, i asked a friend of mine to help me out, he has dual boot system, and he tried it and it did the same thing, wiped out my vista... i just have one drive C: with two partitions, one small partitions which contains recovery files, and the rest of the partition has vista.......

I believe i no longer have Vista. I had installed 10.04 side by side with Vista. Now that we have 10.10 i wanted to do a fresh installation on my laptop. I wanted to do the same thing, install it side by side so what i did is i installed gparted and tried to erase/delete ubuntu 10.04 and leave windows on it. From what i remember, i did just that. I restarted my laptop and windows didnt come up...i got a grub error...i decided then to install ubuntu 10.10. i selected to install ubuntu side by side again with vista. During the installation, i received an error about a partition...i made a few clicks...after it was installing and it went smoothly.
Now when i restart my laptop...it does not give me the option for windows....how do i know if i still have windows on my laptop? According to Gparted i dont have it anymore...

But to do that I need to uninstall Ubuntu, so my question is, how do I do that? I tried to just boot from the Windows CD, but after a while it says that it cant proceed caused by an error that says that my CD/DVD-Rom or my USB is failing or that is isin't connected, cant really remember. But my DVD-rom works perfectly when not running the Windows-CD.
Is this problem caused by that my HDD got EXT4 instead of NTFS?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have my system set up to dual boot Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala and Windows XP Pro, using GRUB 2 (1.97~beta4) as the boot loader. I want to remove Ubuntu and GRUB 2 from the system and install Windows 7 in a dual boot environment with Windows XP. My concern is to be sure that in the process of removing Ubuntu I do not make my system unbootable by removing or otherwise screwing up GRUB without replacing it with the Windows boot loader.
I read a suggestion saying that the most straightforward way to do what I want is to simply install Windows 7 and, during the install process, select my current Ubuntu ext3 partition as the Windows 7 system partition. The suggestion said the Windows 7 install process would overwrite the MBR with the Windows boot loader, effectively uninstalling GRUB 2. The Windows boot loader will find the existing XP installation and give me a choice between Windows 7 and XP at boot time. Does that scenario sound right? Would it work the way I have described it? (I know I would no longer have Ubuntu. That is OK; I intend to reinstall it later.)
For what it is worth, here is my current partition layout:

I have a computer which I upgraded to Windows 7. But when I upgraded it, I forgot about the Ubuntu Install Inside Windows partition I had, and when my disc was formatted, it deleted Ubuntu but not the partition. The partition isn't recognized by Windows AT ALL, but when I start it up the boot menu still gives me an option to boot into Ubuntu.
