I'm using Slackware 13.1. There are some software I need that not presented in repos (e.g GIS software and utilities), so I create SlackBuilds and build them manually.
When compiling some libraries I get problems with libdl - the dynamic linker library. As I understand, this library absolutely required by some other libs.
For some odd reason, it seems that this library is automatically supported on other distros (e.g. Debian), but not on Slackware. As result ./configure script can't find necessary libs and fails with messages like
Code:
checking for sqlite3_prepare_v2 in -lsqlite3... no
configure: error: 'libsqlite3' is required but it doesn't seems to be
installed on this system.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to manually boot (from the GRUB console) into a system set up as follows: crypt partition -> LVM -> root LV, and I'm having some trouble figuring out how to do this from the GRUB console.
I have successfully manually booted a system which is set up as just LVM -> VG -> root LV. All I have to do is load the LVM module. In GRUB, that partition shows up as (hd0,gpt5). Once I load the GRUB LVM module, I can see the logical volume within the LVM as well. (My volume group name is "caesar", and the single logical volume is named "root".)
Code: Select allgrub> ls
... (hd0,gpt5) ...
grub> insmod lvm
grub> ls
... (lvm/caesar-root) ...
It's fairly simple to manually boot:
Code: Select allgrub> set root=(lvm/caesar-root)
grub> linux /vmlinuz root=/dev/mapper/caesar-root
grub> initrd /initrd.img
grub> boot
Where I am having difficulty is in trying to insert crypt before LVM. I can set up such a scheme, and put a minimal installation on it, without issues. It's booting into it upon reboot that I can't figure out. Once I load the GRUB crypto, cryptodisk and luks modules, I can mount the crypto partition:
Code: Select allgrub> ls
... (hd0,gpt5) ...
grub> insmod crypto
grub> insmod cryptodisk
grub> insmod luks
grub> cryptomount (hd0,gpt5)
Attempting to decrypt master key...
Enter passphrase for hd0,gpt5 (<long hex string here>): <type my password>
Slot 0 opened
grub> ls
... (crypto0) ...
At this point, GRUB sees the crypto partition as (crypto0). But the GRUB LVM module doesn't see "inside" of the crypto partition, so I don't see the root logical volume within the LVM listed; all I see is (crypto0).
Code: Select allgrub> insmod lvm
grub> ls
... (crypt0) ...
Setting it as root doesn't work:
Code: Select allgrub> set root=(crypto0)
grub> ls /
error: disk `crypto0' not found.
So, How do I get GRUB to "see" LVM inside the crypto partition?
I would like to have a bootable disk that starts Grub legacy (not Grub 2). I have the /boot/grub/menu.lst that works for my system. When I had a floppy disk I used the option to create same from Startup Manager, but haven't found a way to create a similar disk.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to know if there is any differences on how to install and to configure GRUB 2 in the different architectures (BIOS/IBM PC-Compatibles, EFI/MacIntel and Corebbot)? Does the Ubuntu installer automatically recognize the different architectures and install the appropriate GRUB 2 package ('grub-pc', 'grub-efi' or 'grub-coreboot' according to the arch)? Or does it just install 'grub-pc'? Is the location of GRUB 2's configuration files different depending on the arch of the computer? Or are they all located in '/boot/grub/', '/etc/grub/default' and '/etc/grub.d/', no matter the arch of the computer? Are the files' structure and options to configure GRUB 2 ('/etc/grub/default' and the scripts in '/etc/grub.d/') different depending on the arch of the computer?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm just slightly confused here, but... what the? Why does installing grub-doc remove BOTH grub-pc, and grub-common? So basically it seems like by installing grub-doc, I have uninstalled grub totally (yes, it is still there as the bootloader, but i have no way of updating it now!) from my system. What's the conflict between grub-doc and grub-pc, such that grub-pc has to be removed?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an host to have a personal website and would like to create a bash script to create make a mirror copy of it and then add it to crontab to run once a week. Essentially what I want to do is to get the website by using wget -m ftp://user***@ftp.host/mydir
Once this is done I'd like to have everything in an archive called mysite.date.tar.7z I've no experience at all of bash scripting but I guess this should be an easy task? How to make the user and password not visible ? Is there any other option better than wget? (maybe rsync it works better?)
